When using it integrated seamlessly with multi camera as well as remote access shots. I used it for 2+ years as the broadcast platform for our team sports, special events, graduation ceremonies and daily morning news broadcasts.
The Morning news was done with multi camera segments and differing backgrounds. Switching the shots was easy and my student directors and producers as well as the cameramen learned to make the switches with no lag. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Honestly, I do not remember any downsides, if we had problems it was usually our equipment or internet, Florida is famous for electrical storms... but this was rare. Whenever there was a glitch or a question, the Wirecast team was ready and able to support us, from first time set up and or remote access to resolve any issues. It's a very well featured piece of software and it gives you full TV studio like operability. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
But I've been using it for 9 months every week now and it is THE MOST buggy piece of software I've ever used.
The tech support people are nice, but every week, which is to say every show, I have a problem.
I don't think I've ever just turned it on, done a live broadcast and that's it.
Problems include crashing mid broadcast, though infrequent.
But also crashing just as you're about to go live and then causing me to miss my advertised go-live time. When that happens, it really throws you off as you're stressed.
Other problems include graphics not cutting when cued, guest audio problems, guest video feeds showing a black screen, guests complaining of looped back audio, guests video needing to be cropped and re-sized for no apparent reason.
As said, the technical people respond nicely, but I have to allocate a solid hour to every broadcast to account for technical problems ahead of schedule.
And as mentioned, I really can't remember having done a single broadcast without software based problems that can only be resolved by a series of full reboots, and in the worst cases - having to create your broadcast document (your settings, layout, graphic and video sources) all from scratch.
That's also worth a mention - be prepared to completely remake your document from scratch as the software has a habit of corrupting it when it invariably crashes. And re-creating perfectly takes time!
Telestream - sorry to have to leave this review, but it is very much true and you've never responded to my request for making up for the incredible amount of time I've had to endure fixing these problems, and on occasion, telling what what has been the specific triggers. Bugs, every version introduce too much bugs and hard to stay with a stable version Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't even use it to its fullest potential, but I love how easy it is to control the live stream. From adding slides and graphics to different sources, it makes having a separate stream from your production feed easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The thing I dislike the most isn't even an issue they can control. You can't output to the native Facebook destination and other destinations at the same time. There is a workaround, by building a manual RMTP feed to Facebook. Annoying, but it is totally driven by Facebook regulations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
