## Wirecast Reviews
  ### 1. Feature-Rich, Reliable, and Powerful Once You Learn It

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard S. | Technical Support Manager, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Wirecast?**

A large number of built-in features and integrations. The latest version also seems very reliable. The UX is complex and takes some time to learn, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes a powerful tool.

**What do you dislike about Wirecast?**

As a regular user, I find it stable so nothing to complain about really.

**What problems is Wirecast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It makes streaming easy for our purpose

  ### 2. Smoother live video mixing thanks to its comprehensive functionalities

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan T. | DevOps, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2026

**What do you like best about Wirecast?**

All the features it offers for live video mixing allow me to work in a better way and with greater fluidity.

**What do you dislike about Wirecast?**

The price could be better, as there are more economical options. I am also concerned about resource consumption.

**What problems is Wirecast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like being able to connect multiple video sources and do the live mix, or save it to upload later.

  ### 3. Wirecast for St. Walter Church

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julie M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Wirecast?**

We like that Wirecast has so many layers and shots that can be created to present a Mass to those online parishioners so that they feel as if they are there.

**What do you dislike about Wirecast?**

We have had a few glitches and issues with it not communicating properly with our streaming service Streamspot. There have been some pain points.

**What problems is Wirecast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Wirecast allows us to present a very professional stream, we are able to incorporate the media from EZWorship effortlessly.

  ### 4. Horrible support and false promises - Buggy Software

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel S. | National News Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Wirecast?**

It did have a great interface. Pity the software was buggy and crashed. Not good for a professional / broadcast product.

**What do you dislike about Wirecast?**

After dealing with the support team & management of this organisation, I allege the company has acted in an unethical way, providing false information following serious technical issues with their Wirecast Live Encoding software.

Promises were made that a fix would be available, and they confirmed they could replicate the issue, however this story changed and we were left in the dark with no fix.

The management team came up with excuses and delays, and in the end, no resolution or fix was found.

After a final and formal complaint a year later, still with no fix, the end result was receiving an email stating "I understand you are hoping to get a refund for $299 from your Wirecast Pro purchase from 03/27/2021. Unfortunately, that is outside of our 30 day refund policy."

The fault was reported within this 30 day time period, and they had advised a fix would be issued. It never was.

Despite wasting some 50 hours problem solving and educating their own staff how their software works, this was their final send off.

"After careful deliberation, I regret to inform you that Telestream will no longer be able to help you with your live streaming needs and will decline your refund request"

Simple answer.
I don't recommend dealing with this organisation or relying on their software for your needs.

**What problems is Wirecast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Unfortunately, they don't seem to care and you will lose hours of your life teaching their staff how their product works (Or in this case, how it doesn't)

OBS is free and is more stable and actually works better.

  ### 5. Wasn't as sleek as we had hoped

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh H. | Worship Pastor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Wirecast?**

Wirecast solved an important, ever-changing probelm for us: to provide live streamed content to our church and it's members. It allowed just us to reach people where they were, whether on vacation or just stuck at home.

**What do you dislike about Wirecast?**

Wirecast seemed to always be a bit glitchy. Aside from it proprietary program that needed to be downloaded to run it, Wirecast's communication with the server was spotty at best.

**Recommendations to others considering Wirecast:**

For those that may have a lower budget for live streaming products, Wirecast is a great option. Though, be aware, the programs and CPU requirements that the program requires will cost you the money that you are saving in order to use the product.

**What problems is Wirecast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Wirecast gave us the ability to be more effective with our message and also reach people wherever they were, whether at home or on vacation. Just because someone wasn't in the building didn't mean they had to miss what was going on.

  ### 6. Complext by Comprehensive

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Charlie v. | Partner, Research, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 30, 2021

**What do you like best about Wirecast?**

Wirecast connects easily to multiple platforms for streaming, controls multiple cameras simply, and allows for layering of text and logos over video.
It seems easier to deal with than Davinci (the only other option I explored).

**What do you dislike about Wirecast?**

File management is not as obvious as it might be.
We do find ourselves trying to find where things have saved from time to time (but that's probably operator error).

**Recommendations to others considering Wirecast:**

If you just want something dead simple to get a stream out, consider something like StreamYard, but if you want something that looks quite professional and can grow with your needs and equipment, this is a good choice.

**What problems is Wirecast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been able to broadcast meetings, teaching sessions, and special occasions, all with relatively little training and not much trouble.
It's a nice system, and it lets us reach out to folks well beyond our geographical location.

  ### 7. The Best Paid Live Streaming Software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Wirecast?**

It is very robust and can do more than live stream. You can connect various pieces of hardware, such as cameras and USB devices, to create your own little live streaming studio.

**What do you dislike about Wirecast?**

Parts of the interface can be overwhelming and require users to learn and educate themselves on using the application. Compared to OBS, though, this application is very advanced.

**Recommendations to others considering Wirecast:**

Wirecast is really the best out there, but it's not the only option. For non-profits, I would recommend looking for some open source software that can get the job done.

**What problems is Wirecast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping our clients do live streaming is a tremendous task. Once we install all the hardware equipment in place, it's just a matter of connecting it to Wirecast. This is what makes the whole operation look seamless.

  ### 8. Wirecast- A perfect streaming solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mingo B. | Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Wirecast?**

I like how simple and easy using Wirecast can be! The simplicity of training others on the software is incredibly valuable!

**What do you dislike about Wirecast?**

Nothing! Even setting up your outputs and streaming accounts has become so easy and user friendly!

**What problems is Wirecast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As an up-to-date user of wirecast, I've gotten to see the updates and improvements over the years and know Wirecast only has the users in mind!

  ### 9. Works Great!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jami B. | Associate Pastor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 30, 2021

**What do you like best about Wirecast?**

I am able to stream to multiple platforms using Wirecast.

**What do you dislike about Wirecast?**

Pricing has always been an issue because we are a church and are on a budget.

**What problems is Wirecast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to reach our congregation that are not able to visit us in person.

  ### 10. Wirecast works great for live, 2 camera high school sports

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason P. | Freelance Video Producer | Videographer | Livestreaming, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Wirecast?**

The interface is straightforward and efficient for switching between multiple cameras and media files. The live scoreboard is simple but effective and a more elaborate one could be created with Photoshop if needed. We record to disk and stream live straight out of a laptop without problem.

**What do you dislike about Wirecast?**

There are occasional glitches, for example with recognizing a source or changing the audio of one source to be replaced with the audio from a different source. Most issues are fixed by closing the program and restarting, but that is inconvenient at best and catastrophic to need to do during a live stream. Because I always run a test stream before we go live and thus have time to restart the program if there is a problem, I have only once needed to restart during a live broadcast.

**What problems is Wirecast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Multicamera live sporting event switching and streaming with a live scoreboard.

  ### 11. Easy to Learn even if you're not a Videographer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Wirecast?**

My company asked me to learn how to do a live simulcast within three weeks. I had no idea what to do. We went with a digital publishing platform that told us the easiest software to learn would be Wirecast, so I got it. Although I would not say its simple to learn, it is easy to learn. Since what I needed to do (overlays, blending audio and video, cuts between scenes, integrating various video and audio sources) is not simple stuff, the program was able to meet the demand, but the layout if intuitive and there are a lot of helpful YouTube videos to learn it.

**What do you dislike about Wirecast?**

I had a hard time figuring out how to pull audio from Zoom into Wirecast. It took me a lot of work to figure out that I needed a program like Loopback to be a virtual mixer. There is a lot to learn with program production.

**Recommendations to others considering Wirecast:**

Get an ATEM Mini board for mixing video, an Loopback as a virtual sound mixer on your computer if you are using a Mac like I am. These work well with Wirecast.

**What problems is Wirecast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Wirecast allows me to pull various audio and video sources and blend them into one signal or show to send to our social media platforms. Once I learned the program, I found it easy to use and will use it again. The upfront cost may seem a bit daunting, but the time it saved me on doing my tasks was a quick ROI.

  ### 12. Wirecast Is good but better if there were lives for all the shots imported

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steven S. | Production Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2020

**What do you like best about Wirecast?**

Easily managed layers and quickly accessible

**What do you dislike about Wirecast?**

No live shot outside of program and preview

**What problems is Wirecast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Made graphic overlays easier and organization simple

  ### 13. Wirecast is WYSIWYG and User Friendly with great support.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** m. twinkelle t. | Semi Retired, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 17, 2020

**What do you like best about Wirecast?**

When using it integrated seamlessly with multi camera as well as remote access shots. I used it for 2+ years as the broadcast platform for our team sports, special events, graduation ceremonies and daily morning news broadcasts.
The Morning news was done with multi camera segments and differing backgrounds. Switching the shots was easy and my student directors and producers as well as the cameramen learned to make the switches with no lag.

**What do you dislike about Wirecast?**

Honestly, I do not remember any downsides, if we had problems it was usually our equipment or internet, Florida is famous for electrical storms... but this was rare. Whenever there was a glitch or a question, the Wirecast team was ready and able to support us, from first time set up and or remote access to resolve any issues.

**Recommendations to others considering Wirecast:**

If you are using a different broadcast service, I recommend that you talk to the Wirecast team and give it a try. It is especially user friendly and easy to set up and allows for hassle free streaming. We used different backgrounds and overlays and it was remarkably easy to set up.

**What problems is Wirecast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When I first took over the broadcast program, we had wirecast but it was not being used to its potential. It was a new program for me so I spent quite a bit of time with the support team to set up the studio and learn how wirecast used multi-camera etc. They were patient and their help made the learning curve short. I have a lot of experience with technology, film etc on both Mac and PC platforms (30+ years) so learning a new program was not difficult but explaining/teaching has to be easy. I found Wirecast to be intuitive and so did my students, and like I mentioned before, the Support team at Wirecast was always ready to answer any question that arose... so we had a great experience with it.

  ### 14. Really great in theory but incredibly buggy

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 04, 2020

**What do you like best about Wirecast?**

It's a very well featured piece of software and it gives you full TV studio like operability.

**What do you dislike about Wirecast?**

But I've been using it for 9 months every week now and it is THE MOST buggy piece of software I've ever used.

The tech support people are nice, but every week, which is to say every show, I have a problem.

I don't think I've ever just turned it on, done a live broadcast and that's it.

Problems include crashing mid broadcast, though infrequent.

But also crashing just as you're about to go live and then causing me to miss my advertised go-live time. When that happens, it really throws you off as you're stressed.

Other problems include graphics not cutting when cued, guest audio problems, guest video feeds showing a black screen, guests complaining of looped back audio, guests video needing to be cropped and re-sized for no apparent reason.

As said, the technical people respond nicely, but I have to allocate a solid hour to every broadcast to account for technical problems ahead of schedule.

And as mentioned, I really can't remember having done a single broadcast without software based problems that can only be resolved by a series of full reboots, and in the worst cases - having to create your broadcast document (your settings, layout, graphic and video sources) all from scratch.

That's also worth a mention - be prepared to completely remake your document from scratch as the software has a habit of corrupting it when it invariably crashes. And re-creating perfectly takes time!

Telestream - sorry to have to leave this review, but it is very much true and you've never responded to my request for making up for the incredible amount of time I've had to endure fixing these problems, and on occasion, telling what what has been the specific triggers.

**Recommendations to others considering Wirecast:**

Try all other options first - speaking for myself, the cost of my time and stress in dealing with these problems is arguably just not worth it.

**What problems is Wirecast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Wirecast creates more problems than it solves would be my answer to that question.

  ### 15. Intuitive design and robust for professionals

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2020

**What do you like best about Wirecast?**

The animated transition, ease of dragging and dropping assets during production

**What do you dislike about Wirecast?**

Bugs, every version introduce too much bugs and hard to stay with a stable version

**Recommendations to others considering Wirecast:**

The layering of scenes and assets needs some practice to get use to as compare to other streaming production software, but it will be rewarding. The build in animated transitions help with spicing up the production on the fly. But becareful on the latest updates, sometime it can break your presets. Always test the flow after any updates.

**What problems is Wirecast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The CPU usage is a lot lower than other common paid software out there

  ### 16. Great streaming software with lots of flexibility

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Religious Institutions | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2019

**What do you like best about Wirecast?**

I don't even use it to its fullest potential, but I love how easy it is to control the live stream. From adding slides and graphics to different sources, it makes having a separate stream from your production feed easy.

**What do you dislike about Wirecast?**

The thing I dislike the most isn't even an issue they can control. You can't output to the native Facebook destination and other destinations at the same time. There is a workaround, by building a manual RMTP feed to Facebook. Annoying, but it is totally driven by Facebook regulations.

**Recommendations to others considering Wirecast:**

Easy to use, solid, reliable platform for streaming

**What problems is Wirecast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We stream our church services, so having the ability to go from source to source without having to do it all through the switcher is a big help.

  ### 17. Wirecast provided a smooth way to broadcast sporting events.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Broadcast Media | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2020

**What do you like best about Wirecast?**

I found Wirecast to be helpful with using smooth transitions and easy accessibility

I would like to have more knowledge of Wirecast and maybe be offered more tutorials on how to navigate the software.

**Recommendations to others considering Wirecast:**

Learn as much as you can to be able to find use in everything it has to offer!

**What problems is Wirecast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**What do you like best about Wirecast?**

At present Wirecast only does encoding in h.264 and would like to have other options too.

**Recommendations to others considering Wirecast:**

Use it.

I use Wirecast mostly to stream live content and one of its benefits is that it allows me to send multiple streams.

**What do you dislike about Wirecast?**

There is not much that I dislike in wirecast . This is a great software and I do like it a lot. A bit more user friendly interface would have been helpful but that is very nominal issue compared to the highly updated features provided by the software.

**Recommendations to others considering Wirecast:**

It is a great software. Do use it if you are a regular game streamer looking for a great rush of subscribers on your gaming channel. It smoothens the live stream sessions and is of real help.

**What problems is Wirecast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2019

I like the ease of use that we can basically turn on our live-stream laptop, fire up Wirecast and get started with a live-stream.

**What do you dislike about Wirecast?**

I'm really reaching here, but I don't like that I wasn't notified of new requirements for streaming when they were implemented. The last time we had a live-stream, I had to get on the phone with support because the stream was failing, but then they told me the streaming requirements had changed since the last time we used the product.

**What problems is Wirecast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to successfully live-stream to all of our remote employees.

  ### 29. Solid casting program for all your sources

**What do you like best about Wirecast?**

The rock-solid stability that you get with Wirecast compared to something like OBS.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephen K. | Executive Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2018

**What do you like best about Wirecast?**

The best part of Wirecast is how easy it is to use. Being able to setup and plan a live stream is very simple. The user interface is intuitive. And it offers a lot of solutions and flexibility it it's setup.

**What do you dislike about Wirecast?**

Wirecast doesn't update their software very fast. For example, their current version isn't supported by MacOS High Sierra and crashes when you try to go live. So having to wait for them to update their software in timely fashion can be a little frustrating. Also, this software requires a very powerful computer and a laptop just isn't able to process the data fast enough, so a very powerful desktop computer is needed for high quality video.

**Recommendations to others considering Wirecast:**

Wirecast provides an easy to use live steaming software with tons of capabilities which allows for freedom and flexibility.

**What problems is Wirecast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a virtual office with staff in 5 states and two countries, and Wirecast gives us the ability to easily live stream our monthly staff meetings via YouTube. And being able to have staff interact in real time in another timezone is so cool and helpful. **Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Wirecast?**

You can do a thousand things with this software. You can basically do everything a news network can. You can have multiple talking heads, people connecting via Skype, mix together live feeds and canned video, special titling, multiple scenes. The list goes on and on. Usually I just do the broadcast myself, so I can’t be switching around to a bunch of different scenes. If you had a person in a “producer” role they could do all the scene swapping, then even more is possible.

**What do you dislike about Wirecast?**

It can be slow at times and crashes.. this isn’t something that happened too often but I have experienced it a few times

**What problems is Wirecast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Best part and most useful thing is you can run it on a Mac or Windows notebook!
Specifically, Wirecast can accept input from most devices that you can connect live to your computer, including webcams, DV/HDV camcorders, and other cameras via hardware analog inputs. In my tests, which were done primarily on a MacBook Pro
