Greenplum is fast because of MPP architecture. Segment fail-over and recovery is very good as system automatically fails over to the mirror segment if a primary copy becomes unavailable.

There is no option to create procedures like we have in OracleDB. We do have Functions but procedures would make a lot of requirements easier to achieve.

We had a data lake setup in Greenplum for a retail project. The DB is capable of handling millions of data and follows an MPP architecture. 1. Amazingly fast due to Multiple parallel processing.

2. Multiple queries can be triggered at a time. The result will be displayed in milli seconds.

3. Queries are almost similar to Oracle. So easy to adopt.

4. Dumping huge files in the database is quick.

We use the Pivotal Greenplum database to warehouse website analytics data, in combination with sales and other analytics. It is a massive amount of data, but Pivotal Greenplum handles it with seemingly ease. Moving from an Oracle solution, the amount of time I spend waiting for queries to process is significantly less!
