The thing with VirusTotal is that a number of files and URLs can be scanned by multiple antivirus tools and the report of each would be displayed. We do get a lot of critical findings like leaked emails and passwords through its connect with multiple security vendors makes it a very special security tool. So by using this tool, you can be assured that the malicious content you are scanning has been flagged by anyone else in the world right now or not. Apart from basic scanning, it will provide you with complete details about your scan result as the basic properties of a scan like the algorithm used on that URL or File, file type, file size and if it is URL then it will unwrap the URL.
You can integrate VirusTotal with other security applications like Knowbe4's PhishER and take full advantage of this tool with that application. The integration is very easy and will take less than an hour to integrate properly. VirusTotal is a very good tool that will help you analyze the URL, datasheet, and documents very well. This tool will help you in the Phishing related emails that contains malicious URL and documents. This tool is very easy to use. You just need to copy and paste the URL or upload the file directly and it will analyze that URL, IP, or file and give you the result from top cyber security analysis tools like Abusix, Antiy-AVL, Acronis, and other similar tools. It will verify your data from 92 security vendors and then tell you which security vendor has flagged this URL or data as malicious. Then in the details tab, you will know the history of that URL, HTTP response, serving IP address, status code, body length, hash, and header and it will also rewrite the URL in its original form. It has a community from where you can see if anyone from the VirusTotal community has flagged this URL or added any comment about that.

There are some features in virustotal like Scanning with yara, which is only available in premium mode only.

None of my favourite app I review as 10 out of 10. This is everything. It hepled me to check my defected file by 65+ of virus protectors software's in a single web page. Virus total has been amazing to use as an IT Professional. The ability to drop uknown files, hashes and URLs and get quick results about it's potential maliciousness is amazing. This was greatly improved when we integrated it with PhishER. We can scan numerous URLS and help automate responses to malicious emails. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The publicizing of files that are uploaded to paid users isn't super clear. We've had issues with staff uploaded PDFs with customer data not realizing this limitation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
