As Chief Product and Innovation Officer, I focus on aligning product decisions with strategic goals, fostering community, and driving revenue. At The Dallas Morning News, and previously at the Toronto Star, I’ve seen how an engaged and well-moderated community can transform the connection between newsrooms and their audiences.
Viafoura helps us drive registrations, host respectful discussions, and protect our journalists while building a thriving community. It goes beyond moderation, creating community-driven content experiences that subscribers value and we can monetize. By integrating Viafoura, we’ve scaled moderation and enhanced our ability to deliver content that deeply resonates with our audience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
No solution is flawless, and community management challenges constantly evolve. Yet, Viafoura’s proactive partnership and dedication to meeting new needs consistently stand out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

When you sign a contract with Viafoura, you get more than a suite of products, you get dedicated partners who are committed to setting you up for success beyond implementation. Everyone I have had the opportunity to work with on the Viafoura team is a true partner who not only wants to understand our business goals, but will make recommendations and work with us to ensure we reach those goals.
The AI + human moderation services that Viafoura has continued to invest in keep conversations civil and productive -something the Viafoura team keeps top of mind when they are building their products and piloting new features. They understand the importance of community, and have proven that they genuinely care about healthy online discourse. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If there is one thing I would improve about Viafoura, it would be their moderator dashboard. I work for a company that has multiple properties, and I would love have the option to run searches and change site settings across every property from a central location - this would make it so much easier to make adjustments and scale tests. Viafoura has significantly supported The Independent’s efforts to create an active, welcoming comment community. By providing valuable data, feedback, and best practices, Viafoura has aided in the success of our interactive initiatives like AMAs and debates, which have driven engagement and attracted first-time commenters. This support has enriched discussions, making the comment section a hub for diverse participation.
Viafoura’s powerful moderation tools have been key to balancing dynamic discussions with civility. The “top comments” feature has incentivised quality contributions and set a benchmark for respectful interaction. This proactive approach has improved conversation quality and maintained a safe, inclusive environment by mitigating potential issues and ensuring user trust.
The Viafoura team’s reliability and responsiveness have been crucial. Their tailored solutions, swift troubleshooting, and consistent support with moderation have allowed The Independent to maintain seamless user experiences and focus on fostering community growth confidently. No complaints at all, the team are quick to respond when any issues arise day-to-day,
There could be room for improvement in the usability and interface of the back-end analytics in Viafoura. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It's very easy to use. Moderation consoles were easy to set up, settings are clear and easy to change. Support has been very good during implementation and when issues come up. Our weekly calls have been very helpful in learning more about the tools and with suggestions from the Viafoura team for increased reader engagement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We use auth0 for subscriber logins to our websites. This has caused some confusion with logins for our internal moderators and also issues with roles for live blogging. It has affected the way we handle editing on live blogging when there are multiple people contributing to the content. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Viafoura is a great looking, user-friendly commenting section with lots of cool features. It's easy to register, easy to use, and easy to navigate. The Profile, Feed and Community are great features. We also like that Viafoura sends email notifications when users receive a reply to their comment. Viafoura also has a great admin & tracking dashboard. Lastly, Viafoura has exceptional customer support. They're quick to respond via email or Slack, and are proactive about engaging with us, to optimize our implementation of VF. I was part of the email notification setup team, and VF was easy to work with when intergrating those into our branding. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
From my perspective, I don't see anything unhelpful or any glaring downside to using VF as of yet. I have limited experience with other commenting platforms that could compare to VF. However, one small change I'd like to see is that the email notifications toggle switch defaults to "ON" instead of "OFF". Also, I've noticed the email notification toggle switches itself "OFF" automatically on some of my accounts. I haven't check that recently. The other small dislike I had with VF occured when I was testing the email notifications. Some of the benign comments that I posted, would go into moderation and even get rejected on some of our websites. While other times, my comments posted immediately. Maybe the moderation settings were extra sensitive at that point? Also, the time of the comment moderation process seemed to vary from a minute or 2, to up to 15 minutes. I haven't tested this lately, but it was noticable while I was testing the email notfications. I'd also like to see more email performance data in the VF dashboard using common email tracking points like: Sent, Bounced, Opened, Clicked, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Partnering with Viafoura's team has been a top tier experience. I've worked with several vendors over the years and I've not seen any team match what Viafoura's brings to the table. Not only are they enjoyable to work with as people, but they are also consumate professionals that bring their expertise to everyday collaboratin with our team. I wish the Viafoura data product were less nascent and more out of the box. In an ideal world, we'd be internally capturing much more today than we can. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We were looking for ways to increase the engagement of our users and feed the conversation with our communities. Our search made us discover Viafoura and their commenting solution.
But on top of their easy to implement commenting technology, their world classs, culturally acute moderation services and their technical support, we found incredible human beings dedicated to their craft and who really cares about your success.
Working with them is a real pleasure, knowing that we are pushing each other forward. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is no major downside in working with Viafoura. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Viafoura is an overall effective way to organise and prioritise an overwhelming number of comments, making moderation a lot more manageable. The ability to set up queues is particularly useful for when unpredictable breaking news is gaining a lot of traction, and comments are left across articles unrelated to the topic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The software is prone to glitching, particularly when moderating in the front end of articles and when more than one person is using the account. Sometimes the automatic moderation feature is overly sensitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

My favourite feature about Viafoura is the possibility of creating bespoken queues and searches which allow to isolate certain topics or items to moderate. This is incredibly helpful in a news environment, where moderation needs and scope change quickly. The console is also easy to use overall and it makes day-to-day moderation immediate and effective. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The fact that only one account (to the best of my knowledge) can be used as the master account makes the console a bit glitchy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Viafoura has been a true partner in launching commenting on our sites. At each decision point and roadblock they have been quick to get us any information that helps us move forward with stakeholder approval.
They also offer a level of moderation that creates comfort for our brands and their advertisers. Several of our sites had previously had comments and we decided to abandon them with a previous partner as the amount of work it took to keep them from turning toxic was too much, but Viafoura has made it a breeze and the communities are flourishing as a result. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Initial launch with viafoura was shakey not due to any failurwe on their side, but because we were a new type of partner for them and the documentation was still being built out.
They weere able to turn this into a positive and itnegrate a lot of our feedback quiuckly though. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
