Varonis DataPrivilege is a really basic tool for requesting and assigning access to folders and directories for individuals or groups. The simplicity is actually one of its strengths, as it makes it very straight forward to understand and use -no unnecessary or complicated bells and whistles to sift through, just a handful of fields and branches to select from, and a request is made. Though the simplicity of the tool is one of its strengths, that's also a weakness, as the tool really doesn't do much other than access requests. Varonis' solution suite of data classification and alerting tools are game-changing for managing both unstructured and structured data alike. It's the best tool I have ever used to shine a light on the unknown unknowns in our file shares. Not only was it able to locate and automatically detect PII we didn't know we had, it continued to identify new infractions on data management policy in near real-time. Initial setup is a challenge, but the Varonis professional services team did a great job helping us identify our day 1 use cases as well as coming back to help assess the results after the product had been running for a month.
