What do you like best about Amazon Linux 2?

Integration with AWS is real Smooth

Pricing is little on the lower side since AWS Promotes it.

The configuration is secure as it should be.

Since it runs on AWS Infra the product is really optimized to be lightweight.

It gets pro-support from AWS.

Security updates are regular Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Linux 2?

Since it's a proprietary Operating System, AWS has the ultimate control over it locking out the open source community to contribute and for any such product that becomes a constraint to evolve.

It is platform-specific so in future if you plan to move to any other cloud service not sure how that would be seamless as it would be with other alternatives like Rocky Linux or Alma Linux Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Amazon Linux 2:

If you are looking for an OS on AWS with no charges but premium support and security Amazon Linux is the best option. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Amazon Linux 2 solving and how is that benefiting you?

I had to choose and AMI Image from AWS that has the premium support but tight on budget so after a lot of looking around Amazon Linux was the ultimate solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Amazon Linux 2?

To design and operate cloud apps, you need a secure, robust, and high-performance execution environment. It has been fine-tuned for improved performance. For on-premises development and testing, Amazon Linux 2 is available as a virtual machine and container image. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Linux 2?

All AWS CloudHSM tools will be unavailable on instances running Amazon Linux 2 version 2018.07. The AWS CloudHSM SDKs are now incompatible with Amazon Linux 2 version 2018.07 because it includes a modified ncurses package (version 6) that is incompatible with the AWS CloudHSM SDKs. What do you like best about Amazon Linux 2?

There is no other unnecessary tools and add ons features, also it is best in terms of security and giving better performance. So i would like to recommend this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Linux 2?

There is only 1-2 things i dont like which is some of ubuntu based pacakage not available in YUM pacakage manager, and also less material available to install pacakage and mannge using YUM. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Make better documentation for YUM and also provide more pacakage and plugins like apt like ubuntu so people can do all the stuff using amazon linux 2 as well. So that i would like to see. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Amazon Linux 2?

We have our website hosted out of an EC2 instance. The website is a little compute instance and it's handled effectively. The basic dashboard and other insights are super useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Linux 2?

The tech support for any account type should have been given for at least the first month. If a new user spins up the EC2, he/she shouldn't be left in the dark, though there are Amazon docs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Amazon Linux 2 solving and how is that benefiting you?

Bringing out my organization's website or clients' production environments being published from a secured server. The ease of spinning servers is super fast, unlike the legacy systems. Within 3 minutes, I see a full-fledged app hosted. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Amazon Linux 2?

Faster to spin up new instances within minutes, very flexible to work with a variety of ways to create Instances be it console or API, SDKs. It's very much flexible to work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Too much of UI enhancements at a time look good but always makes it a bit hard to get used to it the first time. Maybe Instead of whole new drastic changes at one go perhaps there should be small changes to make it pleasing for end users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Amazon Linux 2?

Amazon linux comes with support of 5 years with linux kernel tuned for optimal performance on Amazon EC2. its easiest to start working on any given task in mind quickly for any POC's to be implemented Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Linux 2?

I don't see any downsides on this so far. Power architecture can be added going forward as there is no support for IBM Power platforms Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We use Amazon Linux 2 for different application executions and anything which can be quickly deployed on the cloud and easily. we also automate using tools like Cloud formation and terraform if we want to create multiple instances of Amazon Linux 2 instances.
