However, I'm sure Tekla out of the box has clean tools that work. Also since we work from servers and with the amount of people using them at once, it sometimes crashes. I have used SDS/2 and Revit Structural and neither compare to Tekla. The modeling is smooth and easy. There is a large community "warehouse" where you can go get items that have been previously modeled or use macros to aid in modifying your parts. The drawing creator is spectacular. It is beyond user friendly. On top of all of this, you can use the Tekla Model Sharing to collaborate with other users and integrate it with Tekla EPM (formerly FabSuite) for Drawing Management, Project Management, and Production Control **What do you dislike about Tekla Structures?** Like all BIM softwares, it's expensive. There are a few modeling techniques that you feel should be easier than they are, especially since you use them on most projects (bolts and holes inparticular). **Recommendations to others considering Tekla Structures:** Spend the money and get the software. You won't be disappointed. Also, take the week class that they usually hold down in Georgia. It's worth it. **What problems is Tekla Structures solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our detailer that has been here for over 20 years is going to be retiring in the next year and she has only known hand detailing and AutoCad. I am learning to use Tekla as I have previous detailing experience. We have a Beam Line and a Pipe/Tube Laser machine that Tekla can produce files for that cuts way down on the time from finished drawings to items being delivered. It also produces all of our Tekla EPM files for us to order material and nest down the jobs. ### 29. Tekla has purchased FabSuite and created Tekla EPM that integrates your model and project management software. I have used Tekla, SDS/2, AutoDesk software, and many others, and Tekla was the easiest to learn. The miscellaneous modeling is simpler and more efficient than the competitors. The Tekla warehouse is a game-changer. It allows you to go and grab models that others have made and shared with the Tekla community. This saves a crazy amount of time. It's also effortless to set up different companies to detail for. Tekla also has a model share feature that is excellent. It gives you the ability to send models to customers and give them the opportunity to look through the model, view drawings, and basically do whatever they like without altering the original product. **What do you dislike about Tekla Structures?** If you don't have any experience in structural modeling, this software will be very difficult to pick up and start using with no training. It's a bit pricey to get it up and going but the maintenance fees are reasonable. **Recommendations to others considering Tekla Structures:** Tekla offers training across the country. They will even set up in your office and work one on one with you or your detailers. PAY FOR THE TRAINING. This will save weeks to months of clicking around trying to figure out how to do a simle task. **What problems is Tekla Structures solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are able to model projects to their fullest extent and produce files that we use with our automated equipment in our shop such as our Voortman Beam line and our EMI Tube Laser. At first, you get the training which is very useful although the modern UI design that also comes with a user manual makes modeling in Tekla Structures very easy. I used Revit, Archicad yet, Tekla is the best when it comes to modeling. Plugins & components catalog is very powerful when it comes to detailing rebars, girders, etc. What I like the most is it's UI design, really modern design and every year big updates! **What do you dislike about Tekla Structures?** I really don't dislike anything on Tekla Structures, support is very fast when it comes to questions. The use of Tekla is very easy yet, I learnt using plugins & components catalog from support which makes my modeling more faster as I would model everything from scratch.
