The best part about Surfer is its content editor. It is easy to use and integrate the final result into WordPress. I love the NLP optimization. But I also fell in love with the new Surfer Topics that they've integrated as part of the Surfer Editor.
I use it every day as part of my SEO journey. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The AI credits alone are a bit expensive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Surfer's AI article writer has helped me keep my content consistently updated - something I struggled with in the past. I run a busy real estate office and can't always find the time to sit down and bang out a killer SEO article. The more my responsibilities grew at the office, the more neglected my websites became. Surfer changed that. And allowed me to not only write with quality SEO in mind, but also to learn from it so that I could spot weak points in my own writing and find ways to take advantage of their tools to make an article better (I'm currently going through some old articles and giving them a refresh). Their topical authority maps give you a visual way to see content gaps that really helps you not only fill the gaps, but understand how SEO relates things to build those topic clusters. You will absolutely become a better writer with more SEO knowledge by using this product.
And their customer support can't be beat. Seriously. They are incredibly helpful and always friendly. Their Facebook user group is a wealth of knowledge and even the founder has jumped into a conversation to help answer my questions on several occasions. Very welcoming place - for all skill levels. That it's so helpful. Somedays I will get sucked into a hole of creating content and drafting article after article trying to catch up. It's great, because I do get to stay ahead, but it's terrible because I could easily disappear down that rabbit hole for days without coming up for air. (And yes, I'm being a bit tongue in cheek - I really have little negative to say about Surfer.) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The support. Hands down amazing. Very responsive and generous with credits (when you goof and duplicate a report).
On top of support, Surfer folds Clearscope, AI, and Semrush into one powerful tool. We launched a 50-page optimization campaign in February with multiple experts updating pages in their wheelhouse remotely. The common ground was that we all used SurferSEO to make sure our content scored high, had no gaps based on competitors, and checked all of the SEO boxes.
WIthout Surfer, we would have cobbled together several apps to achieve our goal—which we hit thanks to the running start Surfer gave us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One point off for super picky reasons—even amazing software has room for improvement. One feature I would love to see is the ability to edit inside the auto-optimize window. I appreciate Surfer's auto-optimize efficiency for hitting keyword brackets, but Surfer uses an AI engine to do this, which means that the sentences are loaded with that typical AI voice (passive, participle-heavy, modal auxiliary verbs out the wazoo, and marketing jargon). That would be fin (irritating, but fine) if I could edit that crap out inside the optimization window (the purple one). But I can't. I have to blanket accept everything, and remember where the change was to go in and edit it to sound conversationally human.
I would also love the target keyword to appear next to the SEO score (the dial) inside the surfer UI the same way it appears in the Google Docs extension—which works seamlessly :) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It works. What more can I say? It serves its purpose perfectly and it is all you can expect from software. Knowing Surfer made me who I am and got me where I am now.
PS. Getting the highest possible Content Score is always fun. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
You can't move, hide or unpin the Surfer panel, which sometimes collides with other elements of Wordpress or Google Docs. Also, Content Editor refreshes itself every now and then which disturbs me when I have Optimized and Partially Optimized keywords turned off. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The best part about Surfer is its content editor with entity optimisation. This makes it one of the best tools for content creation optimised for SEO in the true sense. It's easy to set up guidelines & processes around this as well.
The other features like keyword research & topical map creation are good as well. But I use SEMRush for all keyword research - haven't really tried switching entirely to Surfer.
Finally, the AI editors are really robust. Lot of customisation possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Surfer is expensive! Both the content editors & AI editors are pricey if you're on beginner plan. Of course, the costs get justified the moment you move to higher plans. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Surfer is an excellent all-in-one SEO tool. Initially, I began using it mainly for entity optimization while using Ahrefs for content & topic research. But Surfer’s other features like topical map creation and page audits, are equally good. In fact, I’m now considering making a complete switch to Surfer.
Finally, the best part about Surfer is its outstanding support team. Having used the platform for ~2 years, I can confidently say their support is unmatched. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only con about Surfer is its pricing. I am on the enterprise plan, so it's still kind of affordable. For entry level users, the pricing can be really prohibitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I’ve been using Surfer SEO since 2021 and it’s the best tool for content optimisation. It saves me hours a month or hundreds of dollars I’d otherwise spend outsourcing. I also use it to help grow my clients websites with the content optimisation features. On top of that their support is super fast and responsive, a big plus if you ever get stuck or have questions. All in all great but the pricing feels a bit expensive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Surfer SEO stands out for its keyword optimization tools. Using the keywords has significantly boosted the relevance and ranking of my content. I'm especially impressed by the term" feature, which suggests terms for me to include streamlining my work and making it more focused and productive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Surfer SEO offers a range of features. It may be costly, for small businesses or individuals. Moreover navigating its functions can be challenging. It took me a while to understand and make the most of all its capabilities. Despite these challenges the benefits have proven to be worth it making it a valuable asset, in my SEO arsenal. The best thing about this SEO tool is that it does it all. Whether it is keyword research, plagiarism detection, NLP optimization, AI content detection, website audit, or humanizing AI content. It does it all.
The value I am getting from SurferSEO is just beyond amazing.
Its super easy to use, integrates with all GSC and WordPress easily, and is very easy to implement when it comes to SEO.
And customer support has never disappointed me either.
I use SurferSEO every single day to take my website to the next level.
If you want one tool to do it all, SurferSEO is what you need! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have a legacy plan. So, I can't buy more credits once I have exhausted my plan.
But this feature is now available in new plans.
Might have to upgrade to the newer plans. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
SERP Analyzer and the AI tools are my favorite part about Surfer. Also, Surfer is pretty east to use and impliment when it comes to your blog content. I found myself using Surfer every few days to write simple articles for my brands. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
My least favorite part of Surfer is the cost right now. It's not accessable to everyone to try out. It's $100 per month for the entry level plan with no free trial. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the topical map, which helps me find content gaps that are missing from the website to ensure that topics are covered well in the content. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would like to be able to update the topical maps manually or more frequently than once a month. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
