We have been using StarChapter for about a month. So far not finding it at all easy to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The onboarding process is deficient. They expect you to watch videos to answer any questions you have. Personal training is not part of the intro package. Very unhapy with thewior support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like how it is organized. It is very easy to maneuver around from section to section. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish it were easier to trace payments back to the respective member, since payments are made by admin assistants often times. There are a lot of steps in order to set up a new member as well. It is very difficult to manage corporate level memberships because it forces you to enter in a dues rate per person, not for one membership. So for a $100 membership with 3 people listed underneath, starchapter forces you to say that the dues cost $33.33 per person and multiplies it by the number of people under the membership, which results in weird rounding. Also, it doesn't offer email analytics apart from opens. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I loved Star Chapter's knowledge base. It offers a wealth of resources and was always helpful for me when I couldn't figure out how to do something. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes I had a hard time with formatting a mass email or announcement. The center button gave me issues sometimes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
StarChapter, specifically Dana Ingle and team, did a fantastic job at rolling out the new M2 design template. At first it wasn't approved, due to potentially not meeting APICS/ASCM branding guidelines, but after a follow up with APICS Partner Services Manager (Leann Goettel) deemed it approved, then we got to work right away.
Things I like the best are:
- Modern look
- Hamburger button
- In Admin section, "Dashboard Snapshot" section is nice for quick summary of chapter health Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Things that are least helpful are:
- StarChapter not supporting Internet Explorer
- Not being able to embed job board on website (i.e. not being able to have LinkedIn default search for Supply Chain Jobs in Cincinnati)
- Email Manager is not intuitive and seems very difficult to send out mass emails; should be as simple as sending out mass emails to distribution groups (i.e. Outlook, Gmail, etc)
- Survey Manager is not intuitive - it's much easier to use Survey Monkey and send out a link unfortunately Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

StarChapter has provided great solutions to organize our non-profit chapter. We hold monthly meetings and collect money for these lunch meetings. StarChapter organizes our chapter member and non-member lists, helps us communicate when and where our meetings will be held, and helps us collect money for the meetings. The best thing about StarChapter though is their customer service. When I wondered if we could create Continuing Professional Education certificates through the website, they answered me with a solution. Now I can send the certificates to everyone who attended a meeting with a few clicks. We are very pleased with how StarChapter has organized us! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I can't think of much that I dislike about StarChapter. When they did a redesign, I had to relearn where everything was at and it sometimes feels less intuitive to me. However, change is always hard. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The website does so much. It is so nice the website automatically puts a guest on the non-member database. This was very useful in generating new members. Last year, the chapter created a membership record with a 20% increase. I don't underestimate the meetings and benefits the chapter offers, however, having a professional website certainly helped. The learning curve. Some updates need to be double and triple checked to make sure all the steps are complete. Also would love to be able to create badges that include both members and non-members alphabetically. I end up either downloading, sorting, then creating through Excel or creating all badges and then manually alphabetizing i.e. time consuming. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Star Chapter works well for our member meetings invites and our newsletters. It does a great job at sending to our members on schedule. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I use Starchapter for several organizations, and I find it to be a bit clunky on the back end. For example for me to update the gallery on the site, I have to go to two different places and multiple steps to get them uploaded. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like that any of the chapter officers can access membership lists, emails, income, receipts should someone be ill or away on vacation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I find many of the functions cumbersome - esp newsletters. There needs to be a specific training on how to make them look professional for those of us that are volunteers and this is not a job skill we have. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I think the ease of use and that I can quickly teach a new volunteer how to make updates. This is an all in one product for non-profits from managing membership to coordinating events. It has multi functional platform that allows the user to everything in one place - newsletters, blogs, sponsor management, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Setting up registration can be a bit challenging, it would be great if it had the ability to build sessions into a registration. As for the membership management piece, it makes things a bit tricky when folks let there memberships lapse and they are moved into the "former member" category none of their membership history is saved, such as their join date. The newsletters are a bit clunky for an online format, when sending through an email they are extremely long and most folks are not taking the time to scroll through them. The restriction of admins make things difficult for volunteer based organizations as you need to upgrade your plan to accommodate this even though your membership may not be at the level that is needed. I love the user interface and how easy it is for me to update content on the website. The administrator dashboard feature is very informative and very useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing. StarChapter is a breath of fresh air compared to the last platform I worked with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
