The ability to create content in a cloud format that works with our creation goals. Fairly easy to use and intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
So incredibly slow saving to Softchalk Cloud. Glitches and won't save often enough. Very frustrating. I think we are finally used to the lack of speed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Softchalk Cloud lessons integrate easily with our Learning Management System, and they allow interactive, self-grading activities to engage students with the content. The lessons are extremely customizable and easy to develop for most faculty. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are times when Softchalk Cloud formatting can be glitchy. There have been times when content has been lost when the desktop editor freezes between times it is saved. There are times when it is necessary to code in HTML in order to make necessary formatting changes, and many faculty do not have that knowledge or ability. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

SoftChalk Cloud allows me to create lessons that have clean lines and are easy for students to follow. It is user friendly for both my production purposes and for students engaging with the final product. I like that it doesn't look clunky and my students can come in, get the info they need, and be able to move on to complete the assessments for what they have learned. It is streamlined and the product is really made with both the teacher and student in mind. It even integrates into other Learning Management Systems like Canvas. I don't see a downside to using SoftChalk Cloud, nothing to do with this product has inhibited anything in my courses or effectiveness in teaching and learning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
You can embed just in time learning so students practice over time and learn repetitively through remediation. You can create an interactive journey of knowledge. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The formatting is finicky and it often creates unwanted areas based on html code. If you do not know coding it is difficult to create an aesthetically pleasing form. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Ease of use and built in accessibility features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
That it is more promoted for K-12 instruction instead of higher education. Not many in higher education are familiar with it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Softchalk is so easy to use. You can create online courses in less than 30mins. When you load them to the Softchalk cloud you can deliver to any LMS using the cloud links. It is a very flexible way of delivering materials online in many different ways including ebooks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Although the product is great it looks a little dated in the way it looks and I look forward to a new look and feel in the future. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is often difficult to update course content when we are running multiple sections. SoftChalk allows us to make a single change to the page and provide updated information to all sections. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The online editor is a little buggy so I still rely on downloading the SoftChalk lesson, make changes and upload it back to the cloud. This process can be time consuming. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I most appreciate that SoftChalk Cloud allows me to create lessons and other content that includes interactive features, the ability to easily add multi-media, and focuses on usability and accessibility throughout. If you know how to work in a basic word-processing program, creating great-looking lessons or content in SoftChalk requires a very small learning curve. I also like that I can use the Cloud feature as an LOR and link my content into multiple places in our LMS or point users directly to a lesson or web resource by providing the URL without having to go through the LMS or hosted web site. I appreciate being able to create page names for ease of navigation but wish that it would be possible for the page names to be more than 7 characters long. Sometimes 7 characters just isn't enough to have a descriptive page name that makes sense. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the ability to layout in shortened pages rather than long pages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The support for safari or macs in general is abysmal. I've stopped using SoftChalk because of it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

SoftChalk Cloud is by far the easiest and the most flexible way to create and manage online course content that can also be LMS-independent. Educators do not need to obtain or learn any computer/web programming skills in order to create both interactive learning content that can be easily integrated into their online courses. The major disadvantage towards using Softchalk Cloud is that it requires a Java-based app to in order to create and edit content. Although, this allows content to be viewed on multiple platforms (Android, iOS, Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, etc), the required use of Java slows down the application's overall performance and has even caused several software crashes. The fact that faculty can edit from anywhere an ALL places where the module exists is updated is a plus. With multiple sections of a class this feature is crucial to quick updates. I also like the widget feature. In particular the timeline widget and Quick self checks. These are extremely helpful. Being able to embed a video and then stop to self check can be helpful for a student to make sure they understand the concept prior to continuing on with the lesson. The quick and easy interface seems easy to use and learn. We trained about 4 faculty who were interested in using it. it went well and they said it wasn't too hard to use. The only thing we had issues with was the LTI integration with Moodle. We did struggle a bit with getting that to work on our new fall server. Once we went through the help materials in more depth and looked at our settings we were able to get it up and running smoothly. The quizzing feature took a bi to get to go into the gradebook, but we eventually got it to work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
