Top Rated Snipcart Alternatives
My small business has been around for 13+ years, and we used the old version of the "PayPal Button" system for our website's checkout from 2008-2022. When we learned PayPal might be discontinuing the (old version) of "Checkout Buttons" we started exploring alternatives. The front-end of our website was always hand coded, minus the (obviously sensitive) shopping cart side of things. Our site is visually unique, and our interface is memorable and popular with our customers. We needed a checkout that could maintain our unique GUI while allowing for a seamless checkout, and Snipcart allowed us to do just that. For a fair monthly fee plus 0.5% (half of one percent) of revenue, the tool Snipcart brought to the table was incredibly powerful.
Editing product prices and descriptions in our old system was a cumbersome 3-step process. The same thing takes just a few seconds with Snipcart. Item customization is incredibly deep & effective. The ability to integrate with TaxJar has been a godsend and is almost totally "hands off" once it's set up. Integration to whatever payment method you'd like was quick and seamless. Most importantly, our customers LOVE the new checkout system.
If you understand HTML/CSS and a little jQuery, integration should be extremely easy. I had a good-looking working prototype within 2-3 hours. If you don't know basic code, you can still figure it out and get things running with a little trial & error. Their support team is awesome too, and their developers were swift to help me whenever I ran into questions. My sincerest thanks go out to Lea, Jean-Philippe, Yanick, Francis, and everyone else at Snipcart who has offered my small business excellent 1-on-1 customer service via email. Snipcart's Co-Founder Charles stepped in to help out, too! Imagine that! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I really needed to think hard to come up with a dislike, but it's mandatory on this form, so here are my only (mild) dislikes:
1) There's no native integration into Shipstation's fantastic Logistics Management software. (Other types are supported; we prefer ShipStation) The Snipcart team pointed me in the direction of writing my own API to make this work, but I'm embarrassed to say it was way too complex for me. Thankfully the Snipcart team also let me know I could Export a CSV of orders and import those into ShipStation. The process takes 30-60 seconds twice daily and isn't a big deal. Knowing the team at Snipcart, they'll probably offer native Shipstation integration sooner than later.
2) On November 10'th, 2022, an update briefly caused Square Payment Processing to error out. (PayPal checkout on Snipcart continued to work fine) The team at Snipcart quickly let us know a fix was in the works on November 11th and was quick to help us incorporate a workaround the same day. We were back up and running within hours of emailing them, and they had Square back up and running on November 12th. They even offered us a special deal - totally unsolicited - to help make things right. They took care of me when a small mistake was made, and I commend them for their quick and compassionate response. In 2022 we saw 99+% uptime for credit card processing and 100.0% uptime for PayPal checkout through Snipcart. (A better uptime percentage than our former PayPal system) Considering how much smaller Snipcart is than PayPal, it's incredible that they've created a product that is MORE reliable than the old PayPal system was. Don't let this minor hiccup dissuade you. Snipcart is incredible, and the support they offer is unreasonably good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like how simple and straightforward SnipCart is. It integrated with our website very easily and it is probably the most easy to navigate payment processing app I've used. When I'm looking for information, or for how to do something on the site, it is always easy to find exactly what I'm looking for without a bunch of click-holes and goose chases. I also like that it tracks customers and tells us about abandoned carts, so we can reach out to potentially lost customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only thing I don't like about SnipCart, and it may be that I just haven't figured out how to do it, is that it doesn't notify me of orders. When I get an order, I don't know about it. I don't get an email or anything. I'm pretty sure there's a way to do it, I just haven't figured it out yet. I have to actually launch the site and check every day to see if I have new orders. What is great about Snipcart is that you can have a simple web store up and running without a database. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
