The biggest downside of using SketchUp is using LayOut for construction documents. It is pretty easy to create a design development set, but as soon as you start getting into CDs, LayOut really struggles. It can crash from time to time and really gets overwhelmed with larger models. Often we need to split CD sets into smaller chunks, which can really be annoying. Also, the usability of LayOut is super simple, almost a glorified PowerPoint, but I wish the simple commands worked more like SketchUp, such as the move tool.

SketchUp is a simple software, only knowing lines and planes, but sometimes it would be really nice to have some more complexity, such as knowing what a roof, wall, or foundation is so that it is easier to change thicknesses throughout the model without having to redo things everywhere.
