## SketchUp Reviews
  ### 1. 16 Year User and Still Love It!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John C. | Preconstruction Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2023

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

It helps me visualize my project and review constructability. It also is a great tool to create fabrication drawings from a detailed construction model.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

I wish I could save my toolbars and user interface when prograding to the newest sketchup. i always have to re configure my tools. I also wish the default materials were updated and added to.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sketchup has helped me create visuals to help clients and colleagues understand the project better and it has helped my career tremendousely.

  ### 2. Great for Remodeling

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

I can easily draw up a customers ideas in a way that they can see what they'll really look like. I like that I can add actual things from the 3D warehouse to add depth to my drawings. I use Mozaic for kitchens and it is easy to export kitchen plans from Mozaic to SketchUp.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

I need to learn how to use it better. When I try to modify things after I've created them, I seem to mess up everything I drew.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't need to use AutoCad to design remodels. I can do it in a way that home owners can see and understand easily and then turn around in LayOut and make a plan for my guys.

  ### 3. A great work tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ethan M. | Business owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

I used to hand draw designs for clients, and every change took ages to implement. With Sketchup I can quickly update to the client's desires and get working faster. This tool has helped me get more business because of this!

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

There is a learning curve to getting started that may be a barrier for some. But if you are persistent the rewards are great!

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating a visual workpiece that clients can see prior to any physical work being done.

  ### 4. SketchUp is a nearly perfect software for preliminary architectural design.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh J. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

As an architect, SketchUp is one of my most valuable and versatile tools in preliminary and schematic design. It is user friendly, plays nice with other softwares, produces great 3D imagery out of the box, and allows for quick study models in the early design phases.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

There aren't many downsides when using SketchUp for what it's best at. I have found the software can be stretched to its limits with very large, very detailed models.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Perhaps the most valuable solution that SketchUp provides is bridging the gap between the architecture I can dream and the physical buildings that my clients perceive. Especially in the early design phases, I can quickly create study models and 3D images to better communicate my ideas that otherwise wouldn't be fully understood with floor plans or 2D elevations.

  ### 5. Great tool for evaluation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike S. | Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

Quick visualization tool. Quick to intersect complex volumes and determine how an intersection occurs. Can export non-orthsgonal model views to CAD linework to save drawing time.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

Very annoying that you can't zoom in ultra close without a display error. If you are trying to fix a tiny model mistake, you cannot get "close" enough to see/find the issue.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick visualization of model volumes. Ability to show clients views that explain what we are trying to communicate.

  ### 6. My right hand for design presentations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carolina S. | founder and owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 05, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

this is my main tool to work on any type of model and custom pieces. User friendly and once you get familiar with it the workflow is amazing. I use the Pro version because I use layout to title blocks and make my drawings more professional. This is one of my main programs that I use on a daily basis.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

sometimes it lags and I feel that the MAC version is less user-friendly than the Windows one. I think the integration should be improved there.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Putting my vision into a 3D model to show my clients the potential of their space.
They get the chance to sense the spatial awareness of their place
My design process gets shortened after the approval and I can easily transfer my readers to CAD and work on something more detailed from there

  ### 7. Extraordinary Software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeffrey T. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

I've used SketchUp since their early days in 1999 in Boulder. As an architect I have found the SketchUp is by far the best tool to quickly generate visual communication imagery in the design phase for both internal and external audiences. There is a vibrant community of artists, architects, planners, and visionaries who seem to agree with me and support the SketchUp community with outstanding extensions, plug-ins and other clever bolt-on capabilities .

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

The least helpful thing about SketchUp is it's capacity to work natively with curves and everything that follows from that.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communicating what a new space or a building can look like, and how it works, is only done effectively for a lay audience (like most of our clients), by using SketchUp 3-D visualizations.

  ### 8. Sketchup is great.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** jay r. | registered interior designer / BIM manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2023

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

Sketchup is so easy for all levels of design professionals to use. Anyone from a beginner out of college to the experienced project architect can use it and learn quickly.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

It would be great if Sketchup had a better connection to Revit.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sketchup allows for quick design options to be created. The model can be taken as far as you want from initial sketch concept to full construction documents.

  ### 9. Quick learning curve!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Valerie W. | Principal, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

Clients love to see the work produced on Sketchup. Sells the job immediately. The new features in Layout will eventually eliminate most of my autocad work.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

The clients want me to draw while on Zoom. They like to see options occuring immediately.
Too much of my time is wasted by entertaining these clients.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The fact that Sketchup is moving more toward working drawings will eventually save time.

  ### 10. Couldn't Work without IT!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Renee C A. | Project Coordinator/ Interior Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2021

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

Ease of use! I'm obsessed with Layout. I used layout for all kinds of presentations. I use Layout with Sketchup for consturction documents and presentation drawings but I also use Layout for other photo presentations. It's much easier to use than Adobe for presentations with photos. LOVE IT... It's my go to first!

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

The cost keeps going up and up and the product stays the same.

**Recommendations to others considering SketchUp:**

It can do so much and use for so many things... your imagination is the only thing that will hold you back from loving SketchUp!

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Furniture plan, floor plans and complete construction documents. It's so easy to show clients a fly through. It's great for rough sketches and quick renderings as well as heavly detailed drawings

  ### 11. SketchUp is invaluable.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2023

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

It is extremly important and invaulable to our business in order to portray our designs to our clients. It is our go to 3D modeling program, very easy to use and can be as detailed as needed to portray your design. It is very easy to learn. Tutorials are easily available for anything you are haveing an issue with.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

Using shadows really slows down the program but that may just be the computational power of my computer.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the issue that many people have trouble reading traditional architectural plans and sections to translate that information into a 3D understanding of the design.

  ### 12. Universal tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Justin C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

I am a landscape designer and really enjoy using Sketchup to bring to life the ideas of the clients. If there is an idea you can make it with Sketchup. I enjoy how you are able to learn at your own speed and how there is a large community who give great ideas and tips to help improve your job efficiency

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

Layout needs a lot of work. Updating models takes so long, it would be nice if it was more integrated with sketchup, almost like a live update similar to Lumion

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The updates may be heading in the right direction but I feel like it's very much on the first steps of that direction so we aren't seeing much yet.

  ### 13. Useful for Every Project

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt V. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

I can quickly and easily draw what I need to show customers to help close the sales process of a cabinetry or furniture project. The better I can show what they'll have in their home before we go under contract, the more likely they are to move forward with us.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

Mac computer updates create major usability issues that can take awhile to be resolved. I spent the first 3-4 months of 2024 crashing SU 2023 multiple times a day and was very frustrated.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allows for a quick and accurate representation of the work I plan on doing. When the customer can see their project in 3D they are understanding what they'll be receiveing before we enter into a contract.

  ### 14. Easy and Versatile

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kenneth K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

I find SketchUp very easy to use and learn in its basic mode. There are many plug-ins that are free or cheap that expand its capabilities and accessable through the program with the plug-in warehouse. We use SketchUp in our Architectural firm to help visualize space for the us and the client. We can import 3D Cad and Revit files into SketchUp and modify them with our Design team with speed and ease prior to commiting to the drawing set. The end product sometimes are generated directly through SketchUps export image feature or we import the models into our Rendering program. Our rendering program has a Syncing feature for real time updates from SketchUp with out the need for reimportation.

SketchUp is also a fun program to use. I have used to for designing and figuring out materials to build bunkbeds for my kids to a rabbit house for the back yard. My children have used it to design diarams for school in the program. They then "pull the model apart" and print the peices on paper and glue them to cardboard. They cut them out and fit them together for a precise fit. They even at times model tabs and keyholes to aid in the construction. SketchUp is very fun, easy to use, and very useful for personal and professional needs.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

Right now the only down sides I have run into are:
1. Some of the plug-ins like "Joint Push and Pull tools" , "Weld", "Align" which I recall being a part of SketchUp(?) , and some modeling tools that detect extra faces should be standard Sketch-Up tools.
2. Updates to the program effect ^^^^ point 1. While we like to keep up with the SketchUp updates we cannot afford to loose these second party plug-ins. It takes as long as a year / 14 months for the authors to update these vital plug-ins IF they are still around. Therefore we push back any updating until the plug ins have caught up to the latest SketchUp version. I would be nice if there was an incentive program for 3rd party programmers that produce useful modelling tools to be released as a part of the professional SketchUp subscription.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We primarily use SketchUp as a stepping stone for a final high quality computer rendering. We use it for the ease in which we can determine space inside a building, we use it for site line studies, quick studies for schematic design to help set the design direction... and at times we use them to get a perspective we can print out and hand draw sketches over.

  ### 15. User friendly out of the gate

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lee F. | Principal Designer + Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

I like that integrated into SketchUp, you can find 3d models, finishes etc... to add to your model without having to download elsewhere and bring in to your model.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

I would like to have palettes I can personalize with favorited 3D models. (this may already be a feature I just don't know about)

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Studying spaces in 3D in the design phase

  ### 16. SketchUp Review 2024

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

The ability to control almost every aspect of a model. When I need to make a piece or part for a model it is completely up to me to be able to create it. I am not so limited as with other programs that are built with more automation - where the program takes over on some level.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

The ability to control almost every aspect of a model - it means I have that many more opportunities for user error. I also am pushed to rely on plugins to help do some of the automation that makes it's use faster when needed. The fact there are so many plugins is great. The costs and reliabilty of some make it daunting at times.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Many times when I need a specific part of a model or more control it gives me the opportunity to create exactly what I need. Being more proficient and spending more time exploring plugins may help my productivity. Ultimately I use it as support for a variety of projects. I have used it as a stand-alone solution on occasion, but find I often cannot devote the time needed to delve into the details of larger projects.

  ### 17. Must have for Experiential Designers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2023

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

I love being able to quickly make a massing model to scale, that I can use for underlays during concept phases, then further develop a model out all the way to final fabrication drawings that our build partners can use without having to draft out separate full construction plans.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

I wish it was easier to create rounded forms and edit them. Right now it is easier to bring in models made in other programs then just drop in, or photoshop them in, but would be great to be able to build right in Sketchup. Would also love more components built to spec from different brands/suppliers of funishings.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quickly being able to get a space built out to scale. This saves so much time in getting ideas out in front of clients for faster review processes and getting to an approved concept that can get built out right off the model.

  ### 18. friendly interface, easy and versatile software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** jasibe m. | architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2023

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

extensions, plug-ins, versatility, export options
not so expensive, good improvements every year,
good information in the youtube channel and forums

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

the lack of precision, modeling behaves weirdly sometimes.
after creating a big or more complex model, it behaves weird, either it crashes, or you have to sort of clean the model, which is time consuming,
get better visualization without buying another render program.
should get a one to one support sometimes, is hard to solve an issue, and you need help with the model

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

fast drawing, fast modeling, easy to apply and modify textures, many options for plug-ins

  ### 19. Great user friendly software for beginners and very convenient and efficient software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Benjamin W. | Teaching Assistant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

The sketchup 3D warehouse is amazing. It allows for a great variety of entities and objects to be used in projects saving a ton if time

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

I use a lot of plugins because sketchup doesnt have some commands that would make life a lot easier especially when it comes to organic shape building

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides a user freindly interface that allows for someone to learn within only a matter of a few hours

  ### 20. Great program with occasional small issues

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darcia T. | Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2023

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

I love that it is intuitive, easy to jump into but robust enough for deep-dive design work.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

I use Layout for production of construction drawings, and with some versions there are some hiccups. The Sketchup team has fixed those issues, though.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease of use with only what I need, no bloat like some CAD programs. Makes my work relatively faster.

  ### 21. Great tool at an affordable price compared to others available

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

I like the affordability, I like the library to source pre-made items from, and I like how easy it is to learn.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

I don't like how you have to draw literally everything from scratch. I don't like how sometimes things can attached to hidden locked elements and cause them to get deleted. I wish you could create a component like a wall - with predefined features/details- and then simply drag that out to whatever length you need, WITHOUT it causing all the other wall lengths to change.
I don't like how long it takes to draw things, and how sometimes it's almost impossible to diagnose what I'm doing wrong that causes me to have to draw and redraw things over and over again.
I wish it would give me prompts to help me remember certain things. For instance, if I have a scene set, and then I toggle a section off (change it to NOT be the active view) I wish a prompt would pop up asking me if I would like t update that or other scenes before I move on to the next thing.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sketchup is providing a way for me to create floor plans for my interior design clients, to create 3D drawings to test my ideas and convey what the space could look like to clients.

  ### 22. with integration of pluginns sketchup is next big thing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** kandula h. | Project Architect, Architecture & Planning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

we can create quick 3d models that will convey our design idea and are presentable

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

it frequently experience bug splash and it hangs when we use profiles

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it helps for my imediate presentation work

  ### 23. SketchUp: The Essential Tool for 3D Modeling

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2022

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

Having been a SketchUp user for quite some time now, I must say that it stays one of my most favorite creative tools. Being an architect and a designer, I find its intuitive interface along with a wide range of functions perfect for 3D modeling.

Few things can beat SketchUp when it comes to simplicity. SketchUp lets you bring any idea to life – from simple objects to complex compositions, they are all easy to make.

It’s hard not to be amazed by how flexible SketchUp is. Whether I need to draft something quick or work out elaborate details, it easily fits into my workflow. There are countless plugins and extensions developed for it.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

Curve modeling can be challenging.
SketchUp can sometimes struggle with performance when working with large and complex models.
Software native feature rather than complete reliance on plugins.
Achieving high-quality renders with realistic lighting and textures may require the use of third-party rendering plugins or exporting models to external rendering software.
Collaborative modeling and multi-user file access.
Better file and software compatibility.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Conceptual design sketches with a growing warehouse products selection and library makes the workflow and production flow smooth and the work process more productive.

  ### 24. I have a love hate relationship with SketchUp

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leonard P. | Owner/Designer/Innovater, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

I have been using AutoCad since monitors were monocrome, and when I first started learning SketchUp I was frustrated that the progam didn't have some of the AutoCad features, but as I got better, I now am frustrated that AutoCad is missing some SketchUp features. SketchUp has a very short learning curve and is a very fast way to get 3D "sketches" for form strudy. It's easy to use and has some great features that I wish AutoCad had. The warehouse is a great feature, but also a deterent.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

The web based program is an issue, and the editing can be trublesome. Sometimes they snap is sloppy, and creates little anoying errors in the drawing that won't close. The warhouse makes me worry about sharing my files with anyone. For fear my drawings will get easily spread to the universe. And where is the mirror function? I get tied of stretching things inside out. Give me a mirror tool.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AutoCad seems to hate 3D, but Sketchup LOVES it! There are oddities that happen durring drawings that I don't understnd, but for form modeling, it can't be beat.

  ### 25. such a powerful design and precentation tool!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan B. | Senior VP / Principal, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2023

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

It is intuitive and very user friendly.
This makes the learning curve very fast and easy to implement.
Allows for instant and fluid dialog of design decisions

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

Hard to use as construction documents for large complex projects

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Instantly visualization of design elements and making design conversations withing our organization and other stakeholders very fluid and efficient

  ### 26. All the right tools, not too hard to learn

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nate T. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

Sketch up is easy to learn , hard to master. this is a good thing on both counts. I was able to quickly learn to navigate the tools, and I had my first drawing done in a couple of hours. At the same time, there are countless tools and ways to make your drawings better and more detailed. I have only been using sketch up for the last month, but I believe I will be using it for a long time to come.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

It can be complicated to move around your model, and I found it difficult to convert to 3d at times

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use sketch up to do general job sketches for my construction job. It helps me and my clients to visualize the project and to make sure that the dimensions we are using work and that we arent missing pieces.

Allowing me to do 2D and 3D sketches for our type of business in a short amount of time.

  ### 29. Long time user

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason S. | Principal Solar Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

It is intuitive and approachable. Anyone can model in 3D. But it is also precise enough for pro use.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

Everything is a point or line. There are no tru curves. Curves are made up of definable segments.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need to help clients visualize outcomes, and SketchUp provides a quick and easy pro tool for that.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** trisha y. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

It is so versatile & easy to navigate. Using it for our clients has really elevated our sales process and makes it so easy for our clients to visualize our products in their space using the 3D Renderings we create in sketch up. We use sketch up everyday in our line of work.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

I would like to see more shortcuts (when inputting colors/patterns) to eliminate using the mouse. We use huge screens when working in sketch up so trailing through the screen to click on something is so tedious.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is scaling our custom furniture to space it correctly in the renderings.

  ### 39. Great tool for quick mock ups.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** William L. | C, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2023

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

I really enjoyed how easy it was to learn how to use Sketchup. The basic membership is also a great way to start since you don't need to commit to a huge software package to get going. Once I really started making complex designs, all I needed to do was upgrade so that I could run the software locally and increase performance. There is a huge knowledgebase online that makes learning easy. I went from nothing to building complex home plans in a matter of months. Awesome product!

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

Not everyone in the architectural community uses it.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy to make architectural drawings.

  ### 41. Serious shortcomings compared to other software

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** al p. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 30, 2023

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

It's easy to pick up, good for using with Enscape.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

It's lacking basic modeling features for Architecture:

It's crazy to have to pay for the software and then pay for Flextools to get basic features like placing a window or door.
This should be built into the software and it's a major reason I will no longer be using Sketchup in my workflow in the future.
Also there's no dark mode which is standard in most modeling software. Sketchup could be incredible but imo it's going to fall behind in the future.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None, it makes my life harder using this program.

  ### 42. Amazing! Love this program!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brieannon D. | Interior designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

Simple tools. Easy to understand. Very helpful for quickly mocking up mechanical designs in 3D space, for conceptualizing process flow, and for space constraints. Also extremely useful for layout designing of building space, for looking at floorspace, and for utility layout.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

Large files tend to bog down the computer somewhat. I know my hardware should be able to very easily handle Sketchup's load, so it is a bit frustrating at times.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building layout, and plant design streamlining. Mechanical design streamlining and visualization.

  ### 44. Could use faster evolution

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

Ease of use and accessibility, a lot of people outside the profession can utilize it easily.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

Not many features that have utility to me have been added in a long time, as well as the pricing model.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Conceptual design & ideation

  ### 45. excellent for fast modeling, could use more tools, on line version disappointing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rich L. | manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

fast and intuitive, one you have some experiance

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

Lay Out is very slow. it should not be a seperate program. I wish it was as quick and easy shechup is, Lay out is slow and cumbersome

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Showing off ideas to customers. Creating shop drawings.

  ### 46. 3D Play-Doh

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maria Alejandra E. | Design Professional 4, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2024

It is very very user friendly, easy to use and understand. Of course it can get more complex to use depending on the user requirements, but in general terms is the quickest way of putting 3D ideas to life and develop in different fields of art, architecture, crafts and design, among others

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

Sometimes it can be unstable and have bugsplats. Also, despite there are ways to make organic objects, you have to rely a lot on the plugins that are online, and can also increase the instability.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is very easy to use and help understanding a 3D model with different tools, views, styles

  ### 47. Easy Modeling and Rendering

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

Intuitive modeling workflow. Abundant 3rd party plugins to help with complex modeling tasks. Works best with Enscape and additional plugins to achieve photorealistic renderings. Easy material mapping and editing. SketchUp for IPad is great for modeling and viewing projects on the go. New AI integration with Diffusion is intriguing as well.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

Drawing production from models not as intuitive. Often model in SketchUp first then move to another software for drawing production.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Early conceptual design. High quality rendering used for marketing and client presentations. Modeling on the go with the IPad.

  ### 48. It's a great tool for discovery and form as well as an opportunity to understand connection points.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hope A. | Interior Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2024

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

Once you've learned the software it pretty quick and easy to use.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

It doesn't translate to AutoDesk software nearly as well as I would like, as a practicing designer in a architecture firm.

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps our firm trouble shoot constructablity issues and answer connection point questions. It also is a fast and loose way to ideate during the Schematic Design and Design Developement phases. It's a good tool for rendering intial mock ups for the client as well.

  ### 49. This is the best program for designers and architects!

**What do you like best about SketchUp?**

Easy to learn, easy to create schematic drawings and representations for clients.

**What do you dislike about SketchUp?**

Sign-In is glitchy. Saving files is counter-intuitive in comparrison with other products (like microsoft).

**What problems is SketchUp solving and how is that benefiting you?**

3D Cabinet Renderings and Floor Plan Solutions. Ease of exact measurment input and adjustments.
