I was led through a routine SEMrush Local onboarding flow, adding logos, selecting categories, and buried in size-10 font was a $725.38 charge I never knowingly agreed to. The platform emails daily about non-issues to drive engagement with upsells disguised as helpful actions. When I needed support, live chat routes to a ticket system with no live humans available. For a platform charging $299/month before add-ons, that's unacceptable. The real cost of SEMrush is never the sticker price. Local SEO, AI Visibility, Content, and Advertising toolkits each add $30 to $220/month on top of already steep plans. Semrush has so many different tools / apps that have assisted with taking some very complex reporting for SEO, social, AI and traffic & marketing, and made it very easy to pull together. It has been an easy process to integrate multiple platforms to get the reporting and show how our internal team can implement the changes needed to grow our brands and revenue. We have also had some really amazing individuals work with us to ensure we have the right level program to get the most out of it. I like the position tracking in Semrush because it helps me see if we're winning or losing on certain search terms and allows me to dive in and understand why. Their pricing is pretty high, and it's become kind of "nickel-and-dimey". For example, services that used to be included at the base level are now "add-ons". I’ve been using SEMrush pretty heavily in my SEO work, and what keeps me coming back is how practical the data is. The Keyword Magic Tool is one of my favorite features and the best way I’ve found to uncover long-tails and build out topic clusters fast, definitely more flexible than what I usually get from Ahrefs. I’ve also been testing their AI tools, and they actually help me understand how my brand shows up across different AIs, not just the regular SERPs.
