What do you like best about SciShield?

SciShield provides a number of valuable tools to help us manage people, places and things. It connects people with training, helps us identify and mitigate laboratory-realted risks, and helps us manage and report on our chemical inventory, which is, for us, key to compliance with building codes and local fire department codes. Our training compliance is approaching 100% due to the ability to deliver course material either synchronously or asynchronously. Lab users are increasingly using the waste and incident reporting modules, which were activated in the last six months. Customer support is phenomenal. Most queries receive acknowledgement within minutes. An internal review of the lab safety program recognized the value of SciShield in expanding the reach of EHS into labs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciShield?

From an EHS perspective, there are no downsides to using SciShield. We experenced some challenges with the inventory reconciliation process, but the SciShield team helped us to resolve the problems. Our inventory experience will lead to some recommendations on better practices for the future.

As with any application, there is a learning curve to master the features of new modules. For example, when we implemented the Incident module, we had to correlate our process to the organization of the module. But the benefit of having a central and easy way for the lab community to report incidents and near misses far outweighs the tweaks to our process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about SciShield?

That everything we need for compliance within our Lab Safety Program is in one place.

Fast response time from the Customer Support Team Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciShield?

It would be nice to be able to update trainings more than once a year without additional charges. Lab Safety is every changing and it would be nice to make updates as needed to rather than haveing to wait a year. That being said, the SciShield Team has been accomodating in certain cases when we have had to make updates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about SciShield?

System can be used by PI's and researchers mostly without assistance or training immediately after setup. Learning curve is fairly short on the researcher/PI end as well. SciShield support has a short response time during business hours (26 minutes for my last request). Automatic notifications to PI's/researchers significantly reduces the need for direct email contact from EH&S. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciShield?

The system is well optimized for PI's/researchers and for normal EH&S users. For 'Power Users' in EH&S, those used to having database access, complete tracking logs, etc. it can feel a little limiting. SciShield has been responsive to support us as power users, enabling options and access that arent part of the standard EH&S access package and is working to expand the scope of that access for those that truly need it but its a work in progress. What do you dislike about SciShield?

Sometimes we wished we could have a custom solution for what we need but we understand the impact that could have on others and if others also wanted custom solutions. No a big deal though. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about SciShield?

The things I like best are the ease of use for managing the chemical inventory and it allows us to keep easily accessible records for use when needed. We use it all the time, and it is easy to train new people on the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciShield?

I am unable to see chemicals in other labs which would be helpful during collaborations, but this may be a privacy feature or simply due to my permissions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There are some features missing that I was surprised about but overall what is available outweighs those items. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about SciShield?

Integration of various systems and user friendly, customer support is fantastic Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciShield?

Some of the systems could be more robust (I.e., chemtracker) to include basic features found in competitors systems, such as the ability to build and save queries, and some of the systems could integrate better with one another (I.e., chemtracker and hazardous waste) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
