What do you like best about SciShield?

We use SciShield for our organization's safety data management, and the experience has been positive. The platform is user friendly, with an intuitive interface that makes it easy to organize and access important safety data, enhancing our overall compliance. SciShield enables us to conduct lab inspections, training, and manage chemical inventory all in one place. In particular, the ChemTracker and SDS auto-match functionality has streamlined our processes and significantly cut down the time spent manually searching for and attaching SDSs to chemicals — a game changer for our team.

Furthermore, SciShield's customer service is excellent. The support team is responsive and knowledgeable, guiding us through the setup and implementation process and addressing all our questions and requests promptly.

Overall, SciShield has become an integral part of our safety program. It is a reliable tool for anyone looking to modernize their safety data management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciShield?

While our experience with SciShield has been largely positive, there are some limitations to note.

First, SciShield lacks the ability to customize features. Having the option to tailor the platform to our specific workflows would be invaluable. This flexibility could enhance our overall efficiency.

Additionally, the ChemTracker/SDS auto-match feature, while useful, could benefit from a more comprehensive database. Ensuring that every product in our inventory has an assigned SDS readily available is crucial for maintaining compliance and safety standards. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is SciShield solving and how is that benefiting you?

SciShield has solved our data management and chemical/SDS inventory problem. It provides tools to streamline data collection, storage, and retrieval, saving us time and making it easier to access critical safety information.

The auto-generated emails feature is also very useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about SciShield?

The user dash board is designed well and allows users to get an overall complaince 'snap-shot' of their lab(s). As an EHS professsional I'm able to get all necessary information, i.e. inspections, training, personnel, chemical inventory, etc. all at my finger tips. SciShield's customer service is awesome. I've submitted questions to their support team and within the same day had the answer and issue resolved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciShield?

We had to adapt our safety program slightly to better fit the design of SciShield. Some of the intergration from our old system to SciShield took quite a bit of work, but their on-boarding team was very helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is SciShield solving and how is that benefiting you?

What do you like best about SciShield?

I love that I don't have to know everything about SciShield, since help is always avaialble. I use SciShield all the time since I work with EHS, but sometimes I get stuck and cannot solve a problem. Every time when I reach out to support, I get the issue resolved right away. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about SciShield?

Personal Touch - I like the fact that I can contact VPs and even the President of the company when I have a significant or important request. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciShield?

Sometime the company's ambitions cause them to look to add new functionality, at times to the detriment of product fixes to current functionality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is SciShield solving and how is that benefiting you?

Prior to implementing SciShield, there was no way to track researchers and assigned research spaces assigned to a Principal Investigators. Additionally, while we (EHS) had always (50'ish years) tracked and recorded required safety training for all students and staff, we had difficulty tracking at a glance the training that individuals were required to take based on their research activities.

SciShield gives us a quick and accurate view of the compliance aspects in the lab. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about SciShield?

SciShield is user friendly, intuitive and easy to navigate from section to section. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciShield?

Would like the flexibilty to create folders specifically for Bio, Rad, Chem, Animal, Insect, , Permits, MTAs, Shipping, etc. Current documentation allows sorting by type or key word. For large labs, seeing page after page of documents is a little overwhelming. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is SciShield solving and how is that benefiting you?

Chemical inventories helps with hazardous waste planning.

Equipment inventories helps with identification AND location of various equipment that may require annual certification and/or inspection.

Training module provides support to lab staff, maintains training history, provides timely reminders, and allows upper management to identify overall laboratoy safety compliance in real time.

Just found out about the Document Library in Research Tools and couldn't be happier to now have an easy resource to provide critical resources directly to the research/faculty/students.

Rolling out the "new" Bio module Spring 2024 and hoping it will "standardize" IBC submissions/reviews and verify compliance to the NIH Guidelines across the University. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about SciShield?

SciShield has allowed our campus to keep academic and research information on one platform. This alone saves so much time in pulling data for reports and inspections. The magnitude of modules- allows for the use of one platform for the university.

SciShield listens to customer ideas to continuously improve the platform.

Customers always have the newest version of the platform- there is no fee to upgrade to the version of a module or feature within a module.

Each customer gets an implementation expert who is extremely knowledgeable and works with you through implementation and beyond.

Top-notch customer service is always available. Customer support is very responsive, they are there to answer questions and always take suggestions on how to improve the platform or make it more user-friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciShield?

No mobile app- allowing for ease of access across campus to update information easily.

Integrate a camera that can read chemical labs into ChemTracker to make the reconciliation and adding new chemicals easier for the research groups.

Limited equipment tacking- being able to add more categories related to safety or research integrity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is SciShield solving and how is that benefiting you?

The platform saves time in many areas. Auto messages and Smart Mailer save so much time for our office.

The inspection findings are tracked allowing us to know what to focus on with training and areas to work on to improve our safety culture.

Triggering and trackingappropriate compliance training. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about SciShield?

The inspection module has made such a huge impact on our Lab Assessment Program. It has allowed us to do more inspections in the same amount of time. It has cut our follow-up process time in half (or less). We now do all inspections on a tablet that allows us to complete the assessments in the field and review their members and hazards in real-time with the PI. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciShield?

We could really use more workability with field work as we are a land grant university and many of our PIs do significant work in the field. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is SciShield solving and how is that benefiting you?

It has solved our lab assessment process issues as well as our chemical inventory management, which has allowed us to cut down the time it takes to do inspections and conduct more inspections in the same time-span. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about SciShield?

SciShield provides a number of valuable tools to help us manage people, places and things. It connects people with training, helps us identify and mitigate laboratory-realted risks, and helps us manage and report on our chemical inventory, which is, for us, key to compliance with building codes and local fire department codes. Our training compliance is approaching 100% due to the ability to deliver course material either synchronously or asynchronously. Lab users are increasingly using the waste and incident reporting modules, which were activated in the last six months. Customer support is phenomenal. Most queries receive acknowledgement within minutes. An internal review of the lab safety program recognized the value of SciShield in expanding the reach of EHS into labs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciShield?

From an EHS perspective, there are no downsides to using SciShield. We experenced some challenges with the inventory reconciliation process, but the SciShield team helped us to resolve the problems. Our inventory experience will lead to some recommendations on better practices for the future.

As with any application, there is a learning curve to master the features of new modules. For example, when we implemented the Incident module, we had to correlate our process to the organization of the module. But the benefit of having a central and easy way for the lab community to report incidents and near misses far outweighs the tweaks to our process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is SciShield solving and how is that benefiting you?

With a small EHS staff and independent academic departments, not to mention the challenges of working with faculty, SciShield has allowed us to centralize resources and expand our reach. I now have a means to report data to senior administrators, and we are able to identify problems, such as non-compliance with PPE requirements, and address them at the lab level as well as administratively. The ChemTracker module has proved crucial in helping us comply with new hazardous chemical reporting requirements. Online courses make training more accessible and provide accurate tracking. As we have implemented additional modules, lab workers have begun to realize the benefits SciShield offers them. EHS has been able to get important and timely information about the activities in labs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
