What do you like best about Base SAS?

Learning SaS Viya through online resources, and the great Support Forum and Team, made this an accessible tool to adopt. I appreciated the ease of use in saving datasets for my own use and to collaborate with peers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Base SAS?

Long learning curve and extremely complex nuances to learn. While this can be appreciated for those data analysts who smart backgrounds, it took me a while to learn how to use SaS Viya for simple analyses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Base SAS?

It is an extremely easy programming language that can be used for all kinds of data manipulation, transformations, statistical analysis, scorecard development, and validation. It provides a comprehensive set of in-built modules and functions for data mining and predictive modeling. The ability query and handle large complex database with ease makes it an excellent tool in the commerical analytical space. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Base SAS?

The license cost of this software is high as compared to other software/tools in the same sphere. SAS only supports basic machine learning algorithms, which is a significant drawback while working on predictive modeling. SAS doesn't provide good support while working on textual and unstructured data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Base SAS solving and how is that benefiting you?

In our team, we used SAS Base to query transactional data and customer demographics from Enterprise Data Warehouse. The primary aim was to build risk-based scorecards using logistic regression models for unsecured portfolios. SAS Base enabled our team to query large chunks of data at speed and further run exploratory data analysis for understanding hidden patterns and variable interdependence. The Proc SQL suite of commands in SAS allows users to manipulate data, thereby performing complex transformations as part of data mining and statistical modeling. What do you like best about Base SAS?

A lot of character functions are available to transform and manipulate your data. Data processing speed is really fast. Inbuilt procedures gives a great statistical insights about the data. Best functionality is Proc SQL as it is pretty much similar to SQL. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Base SAS?

Proc Import and Export sometimes doesn't work as expected. Not much training material available over the internet to learn. Licensing cost is relatively high as compared to their competitors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
