Base SAS is used for Analysis and debugging. Also the SAS EG connects to Oracle, MS SQL and Hadoop so this is the biggest upside for data analysis and review. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Base SAS's UI is less modern and intutive compared to other IDE's like VSCode Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I appreciate Base SAS for its comprehensive set of data management, statistical analysis, and reporting tools, making it a versatile and powerful tool for data analysis and manipulation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Base SAS can have a steep learning curve for beginners, especially those new to programming or statistical analysis. Also, Integrating Base SAS with other tools or systems might not be as seamless as with some other analytics platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like the its flexibility and customization options. It can prodcue high end graphics using SGPLOT, SGPANEL and SGRENDER statments. It gives the user freedom to produce the highly comeplex graphs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
SGRENDER template writing can be comlex at start so it needs special training to utilise its all features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It runs batch code very well and has options for form like entry in a an in screen view. Most of the legacy code we have was built that way, but now I mostly use it to run code I initially created in EG, but now want to run on an external scheduler that runs a bunch of different programs in different languages. It's really not suited for the new programmer or the programmer with a bad memory. I often struggle to remember the correct syntax or option names so I find it much harder to use than EG. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I'm using BASE SAS since long time almost 10 years. The best thing about Base SAS is its versatility and comprehensive set of data management and statistical analysis. It allows to handle, analyze, and visualize data effectively, making it a powerful tool for data-driven decision-making. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One aspect I find challenging with Base SAS is its interface, it's not much handy to new user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

With its extensive collection of graphing features, SAS/GRAPH is perhaps the best thing for me to produce a wide range of charts, including bar graphs, graphs with lines, scatter plots, pie charts, and more. I can present facts in the most effective way for various audiences and goals because to my adaptability. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only thing that I am not particularly thrilled about is that it comes with the SAS suite. If someone doesn't have access to SAS or needs to share visualisations with people who don't have SAS licences, this software requirement may be a problem. It limits the graphs' mobility outside of the SAS environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Base SAS is the best analytical tool, especially in the clinical trial domain and research, which needs statistical procedures. This provides easy-to-use-in-build methods with many options, fewer codes, and less complexity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
SAS is expensive. This is not an open source and limited graphical representation tools are available compared to R. Text mining is free in R but in SAS. SAS is more of a procedural language in comparison to R. It has more lines of code than R. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
