Literature searches, reprint collection and organization, and reference management all in one place. I've used it for years (before the cloud version) and I rely on it heavily. I rarely read a paper other than through Papers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Very little! Occasionally hard to download pdfs. And a more usable way to sort papers into folders would be nice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

(1) It's a cloud based application, accessible through a web browser and through an app (that syncs across mac and PC)
(2) The in-built PDF annotator is a great feature!
(3) You can add papers straight from the browser (i.e. from the PubMed website) and it'll download it through the proxy for your university.
(4) ReadCube seems to be responsive to ideas from the public and update the service with new features frequently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
(1) I found the MS Word citation manager wasn't great, and could be improved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Have been a user since the initial version of Papers and it has been continually improved since then. Makes it easy to organize and navigate your article library, insert citations when writing a manuscript, and the Chrome extension now makes it much easier and faster to import new articles. Useful features are sometimes lost when new versions are implemented, but tend to be reinstated with a later update. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like that readcube is very simple and I can easily manage all my references. I love the chrome extension and that I can search literature in the app as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes is a bit slower, but mostly is working very well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The list and tag features are solid; very helpful for organizing my library. Also, their Google Chrome browser extension is seamless. You can even select which list/folder you want new publications saved to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The import process has improved, but still needs some work. You can't directly save your folders/lists from Endnote to RC Papers, but must recreate them. Also, in the library view, you can sort to have the papers listed by the first author's last name, but it does not display the last name first. So, you might see Edward Estlin Cummings, Edward E. Cummings, and e e cummings all listed, but your eyes have to search for the last name, which in my area of STEM, we often remember papers as, "Cummings et al. 1940". It would be a great improvement if the last name was listed first in this column, for more efficient scanning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Very convenient, works with both Microsoft Office and Google Docs. The Crome add-on offers seamless collection of documents and picks them up as PDFs when available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Google Docs referencing is a bit chunkier and when you manually overwrite text, for example, it changes back whenever you add the next reference. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Robust syncing across devices allows me to comment on iPad and retrieve on my laptop. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Lack of short keys (although some are coming); not all PDF imports work smoothly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Easy to use interface that is intuitive, not buggy, google chrome extension works nearly 100% of the time, smoothly and quickly, very little time wasted troubleshooting. Love the left-hand menu that allows perusal of figures while reading. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I only wish more articles came as enhanced PDF or that papers could sort out how to have this feature work for all PDF forms. Currently, it seems it only works for certain articles.
The MS word citation extension is not good because it does not appear you can use keystrokes to add citations and have to use a mouse 100% of the time. I find this slow and cumbersome. I therefore still use endnote for in-writing citation and have to make sure my papers are stored in both endnote and papers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The added functionality that Papers offers puts it a notch above the free competitors. I am a fan of the ability to hover over in-line referenced and see the full citation without having to scroll to the end and back. And, if you click on the in-line reference, it will jump to the end, but give a button to jump back to where you were reading. Further, the "similar papers" suggestions have made it much easier to get through lengthy periods of reading paper after paper. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
My primary complaint so far is support for freehand annotations. While this feature is great in theory, I have now tried a plug-in tablet and an e-ink e-reader, and neither has given a smooth annotating experience. In general, broader e-reader support would solidify Papers as the best reference manager in my mind. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

How easy it is to get paper into my own library with all the details included. I no longer have to search for paper online myself. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would love to be able to attach certain documents, such as additional data spreadsheets, to the paper pdfs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
