Quip Overview

What is Quip?

Quip is a team collaboration solution which combines document and spreadsheet creation and editing with chat and commenting capabilities, to allow teams to communicate about tasks and projects directly while working on them. Quip enables users to create and edit documents, spreadsheets, and checklists collaboratively in real time, through the ‘Smart Inbox’ interface, with the ability to filter and star documents to speed up searching. Document revisions are stored so users can track changes, and annotations can be added to spreadsheets and documents. Finished tasks can be checked off on the checklist, keeping all team members informed of which tasks have been completed. Rather than communicating by email, users can chat directly within a document, with inbuilt 1:1 personal messaging and the ability to comment on any content. @mentions also allow users to direct teammates to individual spreadsheet cells, or insert items such as images and code into documents. User-controlled notifications keep team members updated on any messages or mentions. Quip works across desktop and mobile, with native iOS and Android apps, and with offline functionality, users can work on documents on the go, with changes being updated whenever there is an internet connection.

What do you like best about Quip?

Good tool to take notes and share it with colleagues. We leverage Salesforce CRM and with Quip, I can easily attach notes to business meetings with Customers directly to the Salesforce Account = everything is in one spot. You maintain the data, make it available to the whole Sales team and the Services team after closing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Quip?

It's not easy to track who changed what over time in a shared document. It also is not easy to search through all various documents through the Salesforce interface. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Quip solving and how is that benefiting you?

Note-keeping of meetings or interactions with customers. It's also great to document and organize details, especially if you want to share it with colleagues in your organization. We typically had the issue, that different teams were maintaining the information in a different way. Having one tool in the CRM, that allows relatively free-form to add notes, unifies at least the place where to look for inofrmation, e.g., when one team faces a similar situation as another did 2 years ago. What do you like best about Quip?

Quip can be integrated with other platforms or data sources and you would just need to @ them to get those referenced. You can do a lot with @ like mention someone, add time or date. You also get a notification of the mentioned time Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Quip?

Handling with tables is not that smooth for me. I think we can add some more features present in google sheets if doesn't exist till now. Like Formula support and all. Also if you paste some photo in the last line of a quip doc it gets tough to work in the next line by inserting a new one, so I would just paste the photo in the second last line to not face that issue. What problems is Quip solving and how is that benefiting you?

We can create any doc and collaborate on that with team members. So we use it to document a lot of things easily and efficiently. Sometimes there might be folders of docs that needs to be shared, we can even do that with quip. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Quip?

It offers a great environment and tools to motivate me to edit files. I appreciate most that we can develop a specific goal and work towards it methodically, focusing on files and quality assurance. Quip has helped us achieve remarkable success in managing our projects by streamlining our processes, increasing communication and fostering teamwork throughout the company. What problems is Quip solving and how is that benefiting you?

This software is used because it has proven effective in managing various files, including PDFs and more complex invoicing forms. It has been fantastic as it has provided much-needed consistency in paper-heavy locations. Since the paperwork is set up in advance gradually and instantaneously, this program has greatly helped us, and it has been vital in establishing a file management area. What do you like best about Quip?

This tool is quite helpful in sharing papers. The ability to include real-time spreadsheet data and the fundamental document creation features of Quip are among its most vital points. It offers essential page linking, short reminders, a fine text-focused editor, and a few nice-to-have extra capabilities. Additionally, we may communicate in real-time about the files we are working on online and view live events. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Quip?

Other basic tools like Kanban are available in Quip, however they are overly rudimentary and not very helpful for organizing actual work. Additionally, the task management system is overly simplistic and inefficient for actual work/project management. The long-term viability is definitely my biggest worry. Given that Salesforce acquired it and that their core product generates the great majority of their money, it is probably not a top focus. One may argue that Quip would benefit from Salesforce's resources as a small product within a large corporation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Quip solving and how is that benefiting you?

It's similar to Google Docs; I use it for quick document production, but it's simpler, more interconnected, and centralized. I'm delighted the spreadsheet features are available, even though I seldom use them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Quip?

It is so easy to create, embedded and share with others.It is also so easy to embed images and always get real time updates made by others.It is very easily shareable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Quip?

Single Sign On is a challenge as always needs to login in with business or personal email ID.Nesting of 2 quip documents in a single is not possible except providing link. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
