"A Huge Help for Organizing Docker and K8s"
What do you like best about Portainer?

Portainer has been incredibly helpful for keeping my containers, stacks, and networks organized. It saves me time by bringing all the important details together in one place, so it’s easier to manage everything at a glance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Portainer?

What I dislike most about Portainer is that some of the more advanced Kubernetes features feel a bit limited compared to what you can do directly with kubectl or other dashboards. It handles the basics well, but once you’re dealing with more complex manifests or CRDs, you start to run into cases where the UI can’t quite keep up. At that point, I end up having to fall back to the CLI anyway. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Seamless, User-Friendly, and Perfect for Homelabs"
What do you like best about Portainer?

I use Portainer for my homelab and school projects, self-hosting open-source tools for free access. It allows me to manage everything faster and set up containers, networks, and volumes extremely fast. I love that it's free, open-source, and has an easy-to-use interface with amazing performance. Portainer even offers a 1-year premium license for small home users to test its capabilities. It's very easy to use and quick to set up and learn, which gives me confidence in trusting the software since I can know every line of code. The initial setup was extremely easy, and I fell in love with Portainer as soon as I installed it after a recommendation from a friend. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Portainer: Easy UI, Effortless Container Management"
What do you like best about Portainer?

I use Portainer to manage the assortment of containers on my home server. I love the easy-to-use UI, which makes managing my containers as easy as pie. Portainer has put a lot of thought into this, allowing for efficient management. The dashboard clearly displays all containers and provides the necessary information at a glance, making it simple to assess the health of my containers and determine if any actions are needed. The setup was also straightforward, thanks to the clear documentation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Portainer?

I feel like the provision of container logs could use updating. I have found myself using Dozzle in order to monitor the logs. That is the only feature I think could be improved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Super Easy Stack Deployments with a Clear Overview"
What do you like best about Portainer?

Deploying stacks/containers is super easy, managing the storage volumes, networks, it's just super easy: clear overview. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Portainer?

so far, there's not a lot.

The only thing I would like to have improved are the notifications upon a failed deploy. It would probably be better to show the failure notification on the top of the page, instead of the temporary notification. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Visually Intuitive Management with Portainer"
What do you like best about Portainer?

I use Portainer for managing my server and Docker installations, and I really appreciate being able to handle things visually with an intuitive GUI. It's quick to deploy and everything is clearly organized, which is important to me. The GUI is not only visually appealing but also functional, allowing me to edit code and organize deployments or stacks without having to use the CLI. I find it makes managing Kubernetes and Docker clusters really easy. The initial setup was also very easy, especially with a good tutorial I found on YouTube. What do you dislike about Portainer?

Sometimes the shell editor doesn't work. It might be an issue with the VPS, but sometimes it doesn't load, and I can't get into the container. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive management and seamless Docker integration"
What do you like best about Portainer?

I find Portainer clear and appreciate that it simplifies the administration of Docker containers. I particularly like the intuitive operation and the fact that all configurations are secured. The ability to see all updates is also very useful. I think the free business license for three instances is pretty cool. Additionally, the initial setup was very easy thanks to the good documentation, including password reset. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Portainer?

I would like to have a way to delete logs directly in Portainer, as I often no longer need them. Currently, I have to do this manually via the command line. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Portainer simplifies docker management and boosts productivity"
What do you like best about Portainer?

Portainer makes monitoring and managing docker containers and docker compose stacks MUCH easier. Re-creating docker containers with small modifications from the original, without having to remember the exact command that started it in the first place, is a big productivity win. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Portainer?

There are no downsides, only things that I wish it could do, that it does not. The one thing I would like to see is some kind of scheduler, to schedule jobs like restarting a container. But it's not a problem to run another service alongside Portainer to handle that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Docker Management with Portainer"
What do you like best about Portainer?

I appreciate how Portainer simplifies container management, especially in terms of updating containers with its straightforward, single-click process to see if a container has an update available. This efficiency in container updates stands out compared to other platforms like Synology Container Manager, which I found unreliable in this respect. I also enjoy the ease of spinning up test containers with a compose file to try out new software, as Portainer effectively makes Docker more accessible without the need for becoming an expert. The initial setup is impressively straightforward, as I barely had to configure anything when using the compose file to get it running for the first time. Portainer has proven to be the best tool compared to others I experimented with, such as Synology Container Manager, CasaOS, Yacht, and LazyDocker, solidifying itself as my preferred choice. I would highly recommend it to anyone with needs similar to mine, showcasing an overall optimal user experience for simple requirements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Portainer?

I wish Portainer could manage the YAML used to install itself, as it feels awkward for it to be limited in the UI when installed via YAML from the CLI. While I understand it can't self-install, it feels like a second-class citizen. Additionally, I find the lack of built-in support for Tailscale in both the primary and agent installs to be a drawback. This feature would simplify connecting remote Docker installations to the primary Portainer via Tailscale, which I found to be complex and forced me to make compromises I didn't want to make and intend to try to resolve in the future. "Portainer has simplified container management, backup and restore, and has helped improve my skills."
What do you like best about Portainer?

Portainer makes container management incredibly straightforward. The UI is clean and intuitive, which saves a lot of time compared to manually managing Docker or Kubernetes through CLI. It’s easy to deploy and we use it frequently for day-to-day container tasks. Setting up environments, managing stacks, and monitoring resource usage feels effortless. The role-based access control and team management features are also very handy in a collaborative setup. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Portainer?

Occasionally, some features aren’t immediately obvious, and the interface can feel a bit overwhelming at first. Otherwise, it works smoothly for day-to-day container management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
