OpenReel is highly intuitive and smart. They're consistently consulting with clients about what they want and need and improving the product. Most of all, the customer service is unmatched. I actually know the names of people who work there, who are available to help me IN THE MOMENT I'm having an issue. I have never been treated so well by a tech company. I know my experience matters to them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Now and then, as with any emerging tech, things break. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I like best OpenReel Capture is the ability to bring quality recordings to one place. I also eally enjoyed using the teleprompter and professional audio features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I disliked about OpenReel Capture is the learning curve because sometimes the product is clunky and not intuitive. I think this can be solved by having on-demand tutorial videos. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The video streaming quality is amazing, and arguably the best in the industry compared to Teams, Zoom and Webex. The good quality still persists at low bandwith, with zero latency which is what we need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Openreel is a great tool but it can add several different advanced features. It can also integrate third-party apps with API so that we can truely leverage power offered by cisco webex Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

OpenReel video capture software has allowed me to continue working seamlessly with clients at a time of widespread COVID restrictions. The ability to use the client's phone camera has allowed me to shoot interviews with clients all over the country. The software lets me control focus and aperture on the excellent cameras on the later model iPhones, then upload to cloud storage for later downloading directly into my editing software. All the files are then automatically removed from the client's camera. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Shooting this way is convenient, but there can still be challenges, such as getting the client properly framed, some remaining digital audio glitching, etc. Phones still can't match the quality of great cameras with great lenses, but what you can achieve is truly remarkable and appropriate for many applications. What's more, these phone-based technologies will continue to improve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The video quality is very strong, you're able to utilize the 4k camera on an iPhone and external mic's to replicate a real shoot setup as close as you can. Quality wise it's a step down from a real production, but very usable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The talkback controlls arent great. I find myself alwasy using zoom while i'm filming these to communicate with the person I'm filming. The audio controls could be better as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The basic functionality of what you want openreel to do works well. You can record people remotely with some more control over their settings and get the local device recordings after the fact. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The interface is very clunky and not very intuitive or beautiful. Buttons and text are small, navigation is awkward at times. It feels somewhere between the MVP and a great UI. Hopefully they will get there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The upload time of the files is mad! Very very fast uploading from a users device almost in real time. Great way to capture footage remotely and download to director. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I had some bugs where I ran a whole session and the session recording was unavailable for download. The file was showing as there but at 0kb file size with multiple recordings do the same. I also wish you had additional camera settings for Laptops and not just Phones. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

OpenReel is fantastic - easy to use, amazing customer support, lovely UX and straightforward steps. And best of all, the SPEED of download and quality is beyond. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Honestly, nothing yet. Everything so far has been a game-changer for our clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's generally pretty easy for the subject to set up the system. 2.0 seems to be more reliable than 1.0. I like the new upload during recording feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The image quality of 4k is almost indistinguishable from 1080p on most phones. Teleprompter is improved but still not amazing. It is way too overpriced for what it is but they can charge that because the alternatives just aren't as good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The system itself is simple to use and full-featured. Even if your subject is not tech savvy, it's easy for them to participate. In addition, the support is top notch! Onboarding is thorough, and makes getting started easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ease of use and strong support comes with a premium price tag. If you have clients that are willing to pay, it's great. But there are other systems that have similar (not identical!) functionality at a much lower cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
