What do you like best about OnCenter?

Scaled takeoff imagery - OST scales the takeoff according to input parameters; e.g., a linear take-off set to 6" appears as a 6" line on the sheet. A count take-off set to 3' x 3' appears as 3' x 3' on the sheet. Output organization - OST allows you to group & filter according to various user parameters (division, section, assembly, etc.). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OnCenter?

The text & imagery auto search & recognition can use more development. The cloud version (ConstructConnect) has a visual scale versus the actual scale option. It would be great if OST had the same capability. For example, in the could version, a user can perform a rectangular count take-off that is 10'x30', but visually represent it as 1'x1' on the sheet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering OnCenter:

This is the most cost-effective take-off software available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OnCenter solving and how is that benefiting you?

Take-off is exceptionally efficient. An average user can easily digest 150 sheets per week. OST allows my department to increase the number of bids per year with less staff. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Nothing to add except maybe a better way to link drawings Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about OnCenter?

On-Screen Takeoff does a great job for overall project estimates of all materials in almost every uniformat division. It provides many different markers and colors that help with taking off each material under various conditions (area, linear, counting, etc.) which help with documenting the project neatly and efficiently under a single file by one user or multiple users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OnCenter?

It is a slow program that takes a while to load. My company uses it through Citrix Receiver so that plays a hand in the speed of the program, but despite the fact it can be inconvenient at times when we are simply trying to change sheets and it takes a few seconds to load, or even scroll on the same sheet. Exporting to excel or other programs can get a little messy too but once you understand how to do it, it can be helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering OnCenter:

This is where I get most of my quantities as it allows for clear and concise material documentation. I recommend to use if you are going into estimation and need to get quantities as a group. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OnCenter solving and how is that benefiting you?

Problems being solved include group QTO's that all people in the precon team can make their own quantity take off from the same file for consistency. Benefits include clear estimations and layers allow for division of areas to be notified for pricing differentials. Another benefit is that the program identifies the sheets that have counts or markups on it and use a color to identify these sheets for you to see so you don't have to go on the useless sheets that are unimportant to your take off. What do you like best about OnCenter?

I love that you can have a legend displaying take off on each individual page. I like that i can overlay different drawings. I also like being able to display the take off legend on each page Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OnCenter?

I dislike that it is difficult to copy and paste. I will this software and Plangrid were merged. This would be revolutionary. I also wish I could upload all drawings into the system so i could track my drawings as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering OnCenter:

I would recommend using the legend that shows take off on each drawing by going on cover sheet tab. The second tab will give you options of what counts you want displayed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OnCenter solving and how is that benefiting you?

I like checking the scale by measuring the scale bar on the drawing. Also, i recommend checking dimensions on the drawings placed by the architect to confirm your scale is not off. I remember one time, i checked the horizontal and vertical scale and the vertical was 20% off. I work for a construction management company and would always recommend scales are doubled checked before doing a takeoff. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

-ability to overlay and manipulate existing counts

- the ability to import files in colors

Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OnCenter?

how its hard to use the worksheet feature in the program.

sometimes its hard to import PDF files from some designers because the way the PDF is made into layers.

- how only one person can work on a file at a time but others can view it

Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering OnCenter:

if you need a simple program to count items on plans without needing a super computer this program will help you alot and it works in and lives in your office network so it makes it easier to have multiple people work on a file Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OnCenter solving and how is that benefiting you?

try to count items on landscape plans for bidding a project . and it makes counting so much faster compared to just manually counting everything.

and it helps us keep track of purchasing items since we reference the counts on OST to what is on plan and what is fulfilled Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Easy to use, can easily import PDF, and images of plans.

Very simple to break up a project into zones and different work areas.

Low cost Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OnCenter?

How you can only overlay 1 plan over another. And sometimes can’t read PDF files that have layers crashes the program and makes you use other software to convert then bring files in Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering OnCenter:

If your company needs a simple program to count sheets and items this helps a lot with counting tools even built in budget sheets Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OnCenter solving and how is that benefiting you?

What do you like best about OnCenter?

What I like about OST is that it is so effective and simple that we can start any employee using it. Uploading and converting plans is simple, PDF viewing is nice, and I highly recommend turning on full screen crosshair to align things across an entire plan. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Managing servers for multiple people to use is not the greatest. Also required to buy a license manager. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OnCenter?

I wish that OST would get more specific with lumber takeoffs. I would like the program to breakout the number of studs, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OnCenter solving and how is that benefiting you?

Our takeoffs are much faster. Since it is all kept in a database I don’t have to worry about losing takeoffs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
