Top Rated Node-RED Alternatives
Node-RED is a beneficial tool to integrate all kinds of protocols and web applications services and cloud computing and best for IoT and Automation.
I enjoyed using Node-RED mostly on hardware integrations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
1) Sometimes, finding errors in which flow is coming
2) importing JSON flow from some website references: If any of the tags are not available in that JSON, Node-RED shows a popup saying these Tags are not available. It will stop the remaining working deployments until it resolved by manually remove or install those tags. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Node-RED is the best solution for automation and integrating any devices available, be it Zigbee, MQTT, Wifi, a wide range of cloud devices and services and a lot of messengers and notification solutions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The library of Node-RED is huge, there is a lot of packages to look at and to try before there is a perfect match. And the memory footprint seems somewhat high. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It eases the development of api's and it is user friendly for people with less coding skills. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
More of drg and drop ui and less of coding which coders doesnt like Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Node-RED main strength is its simplicity. With a visual paradigm, managing IoT protocols, automation, and technological barriers is a piece of cake for almost everybody. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes the number of nodes tends to be high, increasing the complexity and making interpretation difficult. Luckily, grouping and "sub-flow" mechanisms mitigate this frequent problem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is based on javascript which is probably the most used langauage in the world. Also it has great community support which is quite helpful for beginners. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The documentation could have been better and in more detailed. There are a few concepts for which there is no clear docs available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Node-RED has a list of pre-developed libraries for almost all famous sensors. So, you need not to worry about writing long codes for each and every other sensor on your project. UI will help you to map out whole automation process and sensors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Node-RED comes with a bundle of internal dependent files and information which consume a lot of memory. So, if you're running low on memory then Node-RED isn't a good choice according to me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It's easy drag and drop features and custimisable engine and rules made my life much easier , I don't have to train new people about this tool .must have for any clud team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It does not come standalone and we have to use it with any other third party tool or cloud service provider for deployment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Node-Red is a really simple to use "language" and HiveMQ simply works (seamlessly) with it Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing to disike about HiveMQ - with the web front end and ability to access the broker via node-red I have apps up and running within minutes (ok, maybe 30 minutes) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The best thing about Node-RED is the ease with which we can program. Also, there is a node for everything; for MQTT, HTTP, JS Functions, SQLite, delay, split, I can go on and on. Since it supports npm packages, it is effortless to create any complicated flow. The other thing is since it is visual, it makes it that much easier to troubleshoot. The debug node is also very useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One thing that's difficult to work around is the global / flow variable, especially when multiple messages are coming into the flow with less gap between them. You can always use the delay node at the start of the flow to ensure the completion of the flow before the flow variable gets overwritten. Other than this, I have not experienced anything that I would dislike, and I love it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I used the Node-Red software for a research project in college where we were monitoring the pressure, temperature, and flow rate of hydrogen in a liquid hydrogen refueling container. I needed software to interact with the various mechanical components, preferably free and open source. The best part about Node-Red was that it was a free solution to our monitoring problem, and there was documentation available for connecting the 4-5 components we had to connect to monitor the hydrogen gas successfully. One example of the use was opening a solenoid valve when the pressure of the gas was too high, and implementing this in Node-Red was extremely easy and convenient. When I first began using the software, there was documentation for Raspberry Pi, but we were using the Revolution Pi and didn't find as much documentation related to this product. Over the years, more flows have been added for the Revolution Pi hardware, but the discussion section was also helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

*Was pretty new to programming and got stuck up at many stages and the community was really helpful, as I have posted the issues and got help very immediately.
*And of course the compatibility, node-red is supported in almost all IoT devices like in raspberry pie, IoT devices from siemens, weidmuller etc.
*Very easy to troubleshoot and modify. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Still, many devices lack support for node-red. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
