What do you like best about Netsmart OrderConnect?
Its main purpose works e.g. e-prescribing, recording the prescription information in a structured way.
Data from OrderConnect may be retrieved and put into your company's systems.
OrderConnect also populates with data from your primary EMR system to include information that is helpful to prescribers for ensuring they have selected the right client. All entered allergies, prescriptions, etc. are captured and may be synced between systems (be careful though, see dislikes). This is all relevant data that serves as a helpful reminder as medications are being prescribed or reviewed.
OrderConnect did receive upgrades in anticipation for DSM 5 / ICD 10 diagnostic classification code requirements.
OrderConnect helps fulfill some 'meaningful use' requirements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What do you dislike about Netsmart OrderConnect?
Only Internet Explorer 10 is supported. You may even use older versions of Internet Explorer (not a good thing); however, that may pose security risks due to unsupported features and old versions of IE only support older encryption protocols that are no longer recommended for encrypting protected data.
If you want strong encryption protocols to be used and support for modern and secure browsers then OrderConnect is not for you!
OrderConnect's user interface or website design is not the greatest. OrderConnect was built on old technology from another decade now.
Its reliance on old technology makes it rigid and inflexible for your prescribers. Prescribers do not want to futz around with technical issues like remembering which browser or computer to use. These problems are inevitable with OrderConnect which only supports specific versions of Internet Explorer.
The data syncing with OrderConnect and probably your EMR and/or other EMR systems must be understood carefully. For example some syncs should only go one way, but there may or may not be a safeguard in place to prevent you or your users from entering data in the wrong system. You will have a data mess on your hands if data is entered on the wrong end of that one way data sync street. Beware of this and ensure that the rest of your company understands the correct process e.g. define which system a particular dataset (e.g. client name and demographic info) must be entered by users.
There are still relics lying around in the OrderConnect web app that may make things confusing as they do not function or cause unintended results.
There's a training video that goes over using OrderConnect; however, it's not useful b/c it is filmed using a very early version of the application when it went under a different name.
You may find technical support phone numbers on the website and related documentation that need to be removed b/c the application has a long history and the numbers no longer work or the number do not reach the correct people. Ensure you have the right method and process for contacting OrderConnect technical support. Technical software bugs are likely to happen.
OrderConnect does face service outages now and then and when the service is down you need to have other ways of executing your business processes that relied on it. I would say the rate of outages during normal business hours is a blue moon event i.e. rare, but I have experienced it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
