About a year ago, I decided to try out Netbeans 8.2 IDE, after using other IDEs, and was surprised of its simplicity and how fast it started. From then on I use it regularly for all Java development. I like best the ecosystem of available plugins, and was surprise to find a wide variety of alternatives, even for development on different programming languages. Additionally, I find its keyboard shortcuts very intuitive to use.

After deciding to upgrade the Java jdk and getting rid of previous versions, I noticed that my Netbeans installation would not open as before. I had configure my Java environment variables to point to the new jdk. After some research I found out that although I could use Java 9 SE as standard libraries, I still needed to have a Java 8 jdk installation available for Netbeans to run. I hope that a new release comes out soon with full support for Java 9. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
