Everything I started in Netbeans it is higly user friendly almost all Java Developers should and will know a little about NetBeans at the very Least so your worry of who is gonna teach you is gone. This right here is an amzing tool to start your career in Java. It is Free, Setup is easy to run and you do not need to worry about anything else if you have netbeans with you beacuse of it super sayan speed also it comes with lot of tother editors like Javascript,HTML,CSS the servers included like GlassFish is also Quite admirable it is Highly Robust that doesn't mean it traded it's flexibility. What i like best on NetBeans is that you can use it for several purposes. You can use it for desktop applications, for creating websites, create local servers and many other things! The thing that i dislike is that it takes a lot of space of RAM to use the program, wich makes the PC a little slower. But the new app is in fact better, so the problem is basicly solved. Another thing that isn't so great is that the files that were created by the oldest version, aren't very compatible with the new version of NetBeans, so is best for you to star working with the most recent version to make sure you don't have this problem.
