Mosaic Tech Reviews & Product Details

We use Mosaic primarily for the following things (which it does quite well for us):

- Vendor level breakdowns

- Budget management

- Department financials (without needing to those folks ERP access).

- Department BvA reporting

The ability to utilize Mosaic in lieu of a dedicated FP&A analyst gives our small Strategic Finance team quite a bit of leverage. It is also simple to get onboarded onto and use.

While there have been some product bugs, their support team is very responsive and has been able to rectify most bugs flagged.

Lastly, I've enjoyed the overall partnership attitude that Mosaic approaches their customers with. I've been asked for product feedback many times + I appreciate how our CSM genuinely is empathetic to our use case, even if it's not necessarily the exact product use-case vision on their roadmap. Mosaic is still a relatively newer tool in the FP&A software landscape so there is room for product improvements.

Budget loads from external sources + exports are still very rudimentary + collaboration is tricky to provision.

We also not use Mosaic reporting in anything other than internal company reporting, as there is minimal customization (but it works completely fine for our BvA process). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Mosaic has a very simple interface that is easy to understand. There are multiple systems integrations that seamlessly pull in data. Once you learn how to use the platform, navigation is intuitive . I am a primary user and use Mosaic on a weekly basis. Their support is very responsive and for quick questions, the chatbot is actually useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Mosaic is constantly improving on their product. I have used their software for several years and there have been some big improvements. A few things I dislike about the software are:

1. Have to unpublish models before editing them, making it difficult to edit a model and look at the canvas at the same time.

2. Unable to edit data coming in from data sources. I understand that it is important to keep consistency but there are instances where I want to change what department an employee is in for modeling purposes that is different than the department the employee is in in our HRIS system. It was a straightforward process to connect our other systems and get started right away. Out-of-the-box reports allowed us to see the value right away. The canvas feature allows for quick and easy ad-hoc analysis and has created actionable insight already. The planning product provides a logical, flexible way for us to forecast and makes it easier to communicate and provide visibility into functions across the company. Scenario planning is valuable and easy to use and we have incorporated this heavily into annual planning along with other processes throughout the year. The success team made onboarding and getting to value an easy process.

They are highly responsive to feedback and release new features and updates constantly. The UI/ UX is getting even better on the topline revenue planner. They continue to release highly relevant templates (sales efficiency, cash efficiency, etc.) that are relevant in the current economic climate. Their success team constantly gets feedback that makes its way into improving the platform, they take our feedback and we see it show up in the product quickly. I use it everyday and other functions outside of Finance are starting too as well.

I like that they are pushing the boundaries of what strategic finance is and building a platform to truly make my life easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Version control of models can be a bit confusing. Would be great to have a "core" operating model that would auto-populate throughout the canvases, and that didn't need to be unlocked to make changes.

"Multiplayer mode" could be improved. Would like permissioning and sharing outside of the platform (in Slack would be great) to get insights into hands of people that may not log in as frequently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The customer support team, from sales to implementation to customer success and account management, will ensure you get what you need - they are very helpful. The tool is user-friendly and intuitive to use. Once your dashboards are setup, they will automatically update to suit your reporting cadence, both from an actuals and forecast standpoint. My 'dislikes' are things Mosaic really cannot control, but I will note them here to hopefully give prospective buyers a few considerations: ensure the data in your input systems (ERP, CRM, HRIS, etc) is clean, ensure you have the time capacity to learn the tool and use it, and it may take some time to break your reliance on Excel. I love how Mosaic integrates all of our financial systems so that we can easily build metrics and models that are accurate and visually appealing. We have had a great experience getting everyting setup and rolling for 2 years now, and will be continuing to use Mosaic for our monthly and quarterly reporting needs (both internally and externally).

I have also always had a great experience with customer support (both human and AI). We recently had to troubleshoot some reporting totals between Hubspot and Mosaic, and the team was super responsive in helping us get accuracy across systems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Mosaic's ability to pull GL, CRM, HRIS data and more has been very helpful in creating reporting that allows us to look backward, but also forward. Being able to integrate dat from multiple systems was very effective. We can more easily report and forecast our business than when relying on spreadsheets. We were able to get some basic reporting out of the box early in the process, which is a nice outcome. The support team is also very helpful during implementation and when questions arise. The tool is most applicable to SAAS businesses with recurrent, consistent revenue steams. Our projects are not of that nature, but the Mosaic team was very helpful in creating solutions that meet our needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I started as the VP of Finance at a SaaS startup, and was tasked with revamping and rebuilding our financial processes and systems. I found Mosaic (or should I say Mosaic found me), and having heard about their platform before I was intrigued. I quickly realized that they built a platform that did exactly what I needed, pinpointing the exact pain points that my new company needed a solution for. I decided to move forward, and it has been one of the best decisions I've made to push this finance department forward.

I now spend more time in Mosaic than I do in my ERP, HRIS, and other data sources combined. They bring in all the data I need, and use thier impressive backend logic to turn it into actionable datapoints. I have used their platform to build dashboards for internal reporting and external stakeholders. Their modeling capabilities have revolutionized the way that I approach and execute my forecasting.

This platform is very powerful. As with all technology, there is a tradeoff between simplicity and capability. It took a few weeks for me and my team to fully get the hang of the breadth of capabilities this software has, but once we "got it"...we got it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The integration with Sage and Hubspot is great, allowing us to have one system with the source of truth for financial and sales metrics. The modelling functionality is very useful and the support that we received from the implementation team to help us build out our dynamic models was very helpful. Mosaic is continuing to add new functionality and capabilities, but there is currently a limited ability to customize the charts/tables within the tool.
