"Microsoft Word - Good Publishing Tool"
4/5
What do you like best about Microsoft Word?

The review feature of tracking changes and adding review comments is the best environment I have liked to use in the peer review process. That supports multi-author collaboration, allowing them to see edits, and at the same time accept or reject the changes with a note as feedback or a suggestion to the editor user. The editing of a common document by multiple hands is possible without leaving the original content. The sharing of a piece of a document and folders through OneDrive or SharePoint is possible now. What do you dislike about Microsoft Word?

I found that the speed issue when working in real-time on long/heavy documents, especially those having numerous templated styles, as well as predefined form fields and new content controls, including macros. This led to formatting and refreshing issues when working with complex layouts and rich media content. The fear of losing the expected outcome due to formatting inconsistencies. "Why Microsoft Word is the industry standard for All Things Writing!"
4/5
What do you like best about Microsoft Word?

It has been refined and updated over its long history. It is intuitive to use. For example, if you want to insert hyperlinks, references, etc. (like if you are doing a research paper or an article for publication), it takes only a few button clicks to add links, pictures, etc., to your piece of writing. One can literally click a button and begin writing. Formatting, i.e., text size, indentation, paragraph spacing, etc., is straightforward to use. Also, its spell checker now checks for correct grammar usage, instead of merely misspelled words. It is like having a simpler version of Grammarly at your fingertips. Microsoft Word has many templates for creating ANY writing, whether it is a job resume, a business letter, a flyer for a business or an event, etc. The templates are literally available at the push of a button and are incredibly simple to use. What do you dislike about Microsoft Word?

The least helpful aspect of Microsoft Word is that little, innocuous actions can sometimes be more complicated than they need to be. For example, if your document has an extra page or two that needs to be deleted, you need to perform a sequence to delete those pages. The sequence itself is straightforward: Highlight the page you want, press a button, and then type the page number you want deleted into a window. The problem is that often it doesn't work. Please repeat the process multiple times. Or, if you wish to copy and paste text from the web into a document, it often does weird things, like keep the newly pasted text highlighted in a darkened color, which is difficult to remove. You frequently end up typing the text yourself, which wastes crucial time and eliminates the convenience of copying and pasting. In summary, its little actions that one needs to do [while using the software] that can sometimes be more difficult than they need to be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Microsoft Word: A Must-Have for Everyday Writing"
5/5
What do you like best about Microsoft Word?

Microsoft Word (MS Word) is the best writing software there is. I have tried others, and it is not the same. The convenience of MS Word is that it works well with other programmes, such as Grammarly.

I can recommend MS Word for professionals, students and anyone wishing to create digital documents or just to record their thoughts. MS Word is a robust, reliable programme, and no matter which PC you create the document on, it will open on another PC.

MS Word has so many features; I have not used them all, and I have been using MS Word for over 25 years. MS Word has released many editions throughout the years with new features. You can currently subscribe to the online service or purchase a one-office suit. I prefer the online subscription because it includes regular updates and document storage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Word?

The main issue I have with Microsoft Word is that it is rather expensive. When it was a one-time fee for a physical disk, it was manageable, but with the subscription cost, it adds up.

I would like some improvements to the programme's navigation to find what I need. Formatting can be a problem when trying to align your writing with the layout you need. Formatting is very difficult when it is not a basic paragraph-style document, such as a report or book. Anything creative, photos with captions, tables, graphs or specific requirements, for instance, for a dissertation can be difficult. Printing these types of documents is also difficult, as Word documents and print settings, such as margins, can cause problems.

There is also a steep learning curve, and if you are not computer-savvy, you may struggle. Most users would learn a lot at school or college and pick up the rest as they go. Older adult learns who have no experience will struggle when learning without any guidance.

But honestly, even with these problems, I still use MS Word frequently and would not use any other programme.

I cannot complain too much as I am using Microsoft Word to write this review. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The Go-To Tool for Team Documents and Client Materials"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Microsoft Word?

For me, it's all about getting the document to look exactly right and working with my team without headaches. When I need to put together a client proposal or an internal process guide, I know I can rely on Word's formatting tools to make it look polished and professional. The real game-changer is the collaboration. Having multiple people from my logistics team jump into the same document to edit a standard operating procedure, leave comments, and track changes saves us from the old nightmare of ten different email attachments. It just works, and everyone knows how to use it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Word?

Sometimes it feels like there are too many options, and I end up clicking through menus to find the one specific setting I need, which can slow down simple tasks. Every now and then, the formatting acts a bit strange, especially if someone opens a file on a different version of Word or we convert it to a PDF, and I have to spend time fixing it. Also, while the online version is handy, it doesn't have all the features of the full desktop program I paid for, which can be limiting if I'm trying to work from another computer. For creating basic, good-looking documents as a team, it's perfect, but for anything that needs really complex design, I'd look at other software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
