Metaplane has fundamentally changed how our data team operates. It’s no longer about reacting to business user reported issues—now, we’re able to proactively solve problems before they impact our stakeholders. Two key feature : CI/CD downsteam impact review and machine learning-based monitoring are game changers that have transformed our data quality management process. As a startup engineer with fewer resources than a traditional large company, having near-real-time alerts for data quality and anomaly detection has proven invaluable. Metaplane's Slack integration makes it easy to identify issues, and the lineage tool helps pinpoint the downstream impacts of these failures. Within Slack, it's beneficial to be able to address issues and help train the model custom to our system.
Regarding the monitors themselves, the ability to write custom SQL has been valuable for us because they can be tailored for specific use cases. The customer support is great too - I can always get an answer to my questions within a couple hours.
Overall, Metaplane empowers data teams to stay ahead of potential issues, ensuring data quality and reliability without the need for constant manual oversight. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The notifications can be excessive at times, as it takes a little bit to train the models. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One thing the data team really struggled with was not being the first to react to any data quality issues. Often it was the end user who was alerting us. Metaplane allowed us to be a lot more proactive ensuring the data team is the first to know about any issues. Integration with our data stack was also very easy and the support provided is excellent. The wider team find the lineage aspect very useful for understanding dependencies between tables. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It can be quite noisy at first but the support to ensure you have the correct monitors on the most improtant tables soon enables you to become more targetted on what you monitor. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Its simplicity. Its testing layer is effortless, and the slack integration asks you straightforward questions: is this change normal or an anomaly? Do you want to re-run the test or disable the test? We can help the model learn right there in Slack. Metaplane is effectively part of our team, like an extra person.
Also the onboarding is insanely quick and easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
They have imoproved tenfold on the initial design clunkiness. I am looking forward to them adding the ability to compare the contents of tables across databases to catch replication misses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Metaplane helps us as a data team understand many different aspects of our warehouse including data freshness, model lineage, and usage of our data sources. It sits silently processing while alerting us of issues before our business stakeholders surface them, helping our team save credibility. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Metaplane is growing out of its infancy and may not have all of the features an enterprise product may need. Although they are very open to feedback and are very willing to implement features based on customer feedback. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Metaplane has been great for monitoring anomolies in our data and for doing QA on any changes in our code. The CI and alerting capabilities are very easy to set up. I have also really enjoyed using the column level lineage that goes all the way down to our BI tool. This makes assessing the impact of a code change much easier than before. Additionally, the variety of monitors that can be set up is wide and has continued to improve. We have taken advantage of the partitioned monitors to track changes within a specific time period. Overall, this is an excellent tool for data teams and saves us tons of time! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The alerts can be a bit noisy and it takes some time tweak them so they are prividing the insights you want. I also would love to see a more detailed data diff feature in addition to the testing/impact previews that you get from the CI. Being able to identify the specific rows that are drivers for any change in the complexion of a data set would make debugging that much quicker. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Metaplane not only helps our team with data quality monitoring (test failures, alerts, etc) but also with determining cruft in our data model. Receiving alerts about data issues on upstream models is a huge improvement as it helps us triage and solve issues before they reach downstream data users. Metaplane UI is easy to navigate and the Slack integration is key - once you set up your tests, you don't need to spend a lot of time in the app. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish Metaplane had a connection with Hightouch (alongside their Looker & other downstream connections) to help with lineage. However, they are actively working on this so I'm excited to utilize it once available! Additionally, aggregated data or metadata would be nice so we could better access data performance over time. Lastly, lineage on production database schema changes lineage would be amazing (not sure if that's possible though...) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Metaplane has become a critical part of our stack. It gives us visibility into issues before they become problems for the larger org and saves us countless hours.
It is incredibly easy to set up. They have one of the most impressive onboarding flows of any data tools I've worked with. We are able to run quality tests at scale with very little setup so the time to value was very quick.
It's also super flexible. They are contiously adding new types of automated tests but it's easy to configure more complicated/custom tests for anything that isn't covered out of the box.
They provide first class support which is rare these days.
In summary, Metaplane gives our small team incredbile leverage to be able to punch above our weightclass. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There isn't anything significant I don't like. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It was easy to set up Metaplane and connect it to our snowflake warehouse, and their team walked us through how to maximize the monitoring setup for our use case. The most critical tests for us are data freshness and row count monitors from our third-party database connections, and these tests are reliable and timely in providing alerts that something is off. We've set up slack alerts to keep our whole team in the loop, and even tried out the API for custom use cases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Occasionally the freshness monitors don't capture non-standard/unusual data patterns, though the metaplane team did roll out a nice improvement in those models this year. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Metaplane is hands down the easiest and most useful data observability tool on the market. We use it to monitor failures and anomalies across all of our clients' data stacks. Most monitoring tools are difficult to set up and can’t differentiate between critical and non-critical failures, which results in notification fatigue. Metaplane is the opposite. Metaplane is quick to configure both from the start and on an ongoing basis. It automatically differentiates between critical and non critical failures, making it an extremely actionable data observability tool.
With Metaplane we are able to easily and accurately test our own ETL pipelines and the outputs of our data models and catch errors before business users even know anything is wrong. This helps maintain our reputation as a data engineering org and also saves our clients a ton of time and money, especially when we catch errors related to data integrations that power revenue-generating flows or advertising data where the cost of mistakes is high.
Metaplane is now a default part of our data stack whenever we add a new client. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We’re really satisfied customers. We recommend Metaplane to pretty much every data team we meet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is monitoring all of our data systems across many different tests to detect anomalies and let us know when errors are detected. It helps me understand when our data systems are changing, when user behavior changes, and what the downstream effects of the data quality issues are. We are easily able to turn on many different kinds of tests depending on the type of data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
They aren't proactive enough about adding new tests when new tables are created. It feels like an obvious next step for them, and it's a nice to have since I can always go in and review the full suite of tests whenever I want. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
