The best thing about Mathjax is that it get automatically loaded with webpage. So it don't require additional additional of plugins or any 3rd party software installation.
It really work well to convert mathematics notations to display on web pages. For conversion it uses JavaScript with MathML, html and CSS.
Moreover its open source and good to alter as per the requirement.
I have used this in my blogs and corporate websites to load the notations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If MathJax didn't find any notation to convert or didn't found the fonts then it check User system for the language conversion. Moreover if data didn't get converted, it try to load the MathMl through that system which further impact the webpage performance.
