The Lumos StepUp program is user friendly. It has tests that mimic the real standardized assessment which provides students with familiarity and the chance to gain confidence in their test taking skills. Furthermore, the Lumos StepUp program is proven to improve test scores. With so much emphasis placed on test scores, students need individualized instrutction which this software can provide. As students move through a plethora of questions, they become increasingly familiar with assessment styles and are able to see where their gaps are. Due to the vast number of questions, teachers and students can work to facilitate mastery in weak areas. I have seen the huge difference that this program can make in my students' lives, and I know that it has helped many students learn at their own pace.

Two additional benefits of the program are the homework assistant and the coach. Not every student has a parent at home that can assist them, but Lumos StepUp's unique access to artificial intelligence (AI) makes it possible for those students to get extra assistance as needed. As a teacher, I also love that a coach will review their work from time to time and see how they are making progress. This allows students to see that their performance is not just to check off their list, but because people really want to see how this program is helping them succeed.

With Cmas coming up I want to make sure I've covered all my bases and Step Up helps me see what gaps my students have. I also like that I have quick access to support materials for those gaps and don't have to look everywhere for worksheets.

Sometimes the interface can be a little confusing and I need to look around for different reports. For example, if I am looking for student specific results versus group reports it seems like I click on a bunch of links before finding what I need. I love how when working with the students and the program we can all see how many students have answered(should clarify I activecast to my board), and then we can all see the clear explanation of how to correctly solve the problem. They have lots of resources and videos available to use as well. I am currently using it with a small select group of students during an extended school day whose scores on last years state test were bordering the next proficiency level so we can give those students that extra boost this year to gain a level on the state test(that is my goal as a teacher and our goal as a school this year). I really enjoyed working with the Lumos Learning. I was able to set up my students to work on their assignments and watch their progress as they submitted their answers. We were able to review before their state assessment and it was a huge help to them as well as myself.
