I like that LanguageTool is an open source grammar and style checker. It is great for quickly checking text for errors, and I appreciate that it offers suggestions for corrections that go beyond just basic grammar rules. Additionally, I like that it is available for multiple languages and can be used in a variety of applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I dislike the fact that LanguageTool does not offer real-time feedback and corrections for users. While it can be useful to have the ability to review a document before submitting it, it can be difficult to make corrections quickly and efficiently. Additionally, LanguageTool does not have a comprehensive list of rules and exceptions that can be used to customize the grammar and spell-checking experience. It's super easy to use and gets the job done fast. The AI feature is a valuable aid in paraphrasing. It's great for checking spelling in desktop apps as well. I use it every day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is and acts like a double-check for every online text I have to write. It gives you an excellent spelling check and suggestions to enhance your writing, and it is easy to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The auto language recognition could be better. Whenever you use two languages in the same document, it won't detect it, and one language will look as if it's all wrong. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
LanguageTool supports multiple languages, not just English! Supporting multiple languages allow me to switch between languages without switching tools too. And since LanguageTool supports browsers via extensions, has native desktop apps, and supports keyboards on mobile devices, I get consistent grammar and spellcheck across the board. LanguageTool allows me to add new words to my personal dictionary, but doesn't allow me to classify the word and as such LanguageTool accepts words from the dictionary but disables grammar checking. Even worse, the words added are language neutral, but I added these words from a text that was written in a specific language. For example, writing about companies that use a fancy lower case company name requires adding the company name to the dictionary, but since I can't classify my dictionary additions LanguageTools starts failing to spot errors. The tool does prompt changes. But if I correct one word in a sentence, there is no option to replicate it in other sentences. Using this feature, the task can be completed quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
