Keysight Eggplant Pros and Cons

It’s great to get an automation system set up for testing with people who don’t have a technical background. As someone with a clinical background I was able to pick it up and feel fairly comfortable getting started scripting. Two years into using the software I feel fairly comfortable in being able to leverage almost everything eggplant functional has to offer but I’m still leaning new things all the time. The IDE can be a bit clunky at times especially with larger Repositories of images and scripts. There are definitely some scripting and debugging quality of life changes that could put eggplant over the top. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

1) Very less or no coding knowledge is required to use this tool

1) Object recognition is based on Image and Optical Character Recognition(OCR) , so any change in image or OCR the scripts will fail.

Sometimes the SUT takes time to identify an image that we give as Text. This often affects the Continuous Integration of a test case even though we use certain parameters like ValidWords. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Eggplant is really useful for drawing n creating flow diagrams which is beneficial for users without technical experience. The interface is user friendly n it is very cool in identifying objects. So to create an end to end scenario it is not a big effort in Eggplant.Functional automation testing for end to end scenarios is really convenient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I would say the only downside is the cost. May be you can have separate categories so that user can select the optimum one preferably with less cost based on his/her usage Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The best thing is the minute tangling of icons and words which eggplant uses to detonate and verify the test cases on accurate basic which helps to determine not just the performance optimisation but also the ui change aspects across screens developed for automation. The api modules or methods used can be more simplified like a reusable function that could be used repeatedly which will reduce the automation script across screens of desktop or any web application Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I really appreciate the simplicity for scripting in Eggplant Performance for performance test based scripts. The ease of doing Correlation and Parameterization is appreciable.

I come from a non-technical background, and due to to the nature of the project, my firm required me to learn the tool for RPA.

It was a breeze to learn how to use Eggplant and the support team was really good and adept at teaching a non-tech person like me. So its easy to say - If I can learn & use, anyone can! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
