What do you like best about Kannu?

The overall modular approach lets many different instructors approach setting up classes differently. It's great for structuring your core classes to be consistently organized every semester. The system and software is easy to use for the instructors to setup with varying levels of tech experience. The students also like the organization and consolidated resources. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Kannu?

Some of the initial set up is quite tedious and the dates don't transition well between semesters. The solutions for the user is to set up two different versions of the same class for different semesters, but it would be nice if there are some power user data modifications systems such as using a csv to manage all the dates Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Kannu:

Good for visual arts college classes, has lots of opportunities for customization and modular design Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Kannu solving and how is that benefiting you?

Kannu helped keep some of the visual arts classes more organized and well documented. For design education classes, it helps provide a good basis for documenting student research. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Kannu?

Course cards look very cool, modern and clean and is one of the most elegant course catalogue looks I've come across.

Session and coursework building is simple, quick and efficient.

Excellent communication features. We use the individual and group messages with students a lot. And students love to use these too since they have very familiar look and feel like popular social messaging apps.

The Course Galley feature is very cool. This was our first step to encourage students to engage in peer assessment. Once they got used to commenting or liking a peer's work on the gallery, they were able to do more detailed and criteria referenced peer assessment.

The entire faculty team love the announcement feature, especially the ability to schedule any number of future announcements. We use them a lot to remind students to keep up with learning tasks, due dates, etc. All it takes is an hour at the beginning to the term to set up the entire messaging for the term (with planning of course!)

Automatic grading of quizzes is a huge time saver, especially for classes with peak student numbers. We even run final exams in full automation by programming the start time, end time and fully automatic grading.

In-video quizzes is simply awesome. Helps heaps to make videos into interactive learning tools with very simple quiz setup. This is a gem.

And finally, the folks at Kadenze work with us (you) to solve challenges and to roll out features. Kadenze doesn't treat us like another client, we feel we are in a learning technology partnership, and that gives us the confidence to disrupt course delivery practices and effect change. What do you dislike about Kannu?

A faster server would be great (we can never get enough speed, can we?! :) ). Also, a deeper drill down of individual student engagement analytics would be awesome. We believe this is in the works. The App version of the Kannu is awaited. Though the mobile version of Kannu works/feels almost like an app, ability to send push notifications, etc. would be awesome. We would have loved to have the ability to lock/release individual sessions based on completion of the previous lesson in the sequence (and not just by time/date). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Kannu:

Kannu is suitable for media rich and student centric course delivery. It has a reasonable learning curve, so you might want to make the best use of the demo period by getting your instructional design leads / course authors to really build and deploy a micro course to familiarise with the workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Kannu solving and how is that benefiting you?

Blended delivery of on-campus courses helped reduce tutorial time. It is also helping to reduce the time spent on grading standardised assessments.

We rolled out bite sized online courses that cater to a large segment of learners who could not come to our campus. This helped us make education accessible and affordable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Kannu?

The Kannu LMS continues to be a great tool that helps me to help for my students. The platform has the flexibility to format my courses the way I want to teach them. The process of creating a course on Kannu helps me to think through what I want to my students to learn and how I can guide them through the learning process. In this regard, Kannu is more than a learning management system, it is a vital part of my teaching practice. Anyone who has ever taught a course knows that unexpected tangents happen and these may often have a huge impact on student learning. This LMS allows me to add material that I could never have anticipated at the beginning of the semester or that was discovered by my students during the semester. This allows me to model real world, real time discovery and synthesis. This adds to the student experience far beyond just the content of the course. I appreciate the flexibility, but also the fact that I can copy a course from previous semesters to upcoming semesters. After all, some content is predictably similar among permutations of a single course. The value added when copying a course is that over time the content grows and the archive of resources can be curated as the subject matter itself develops and changes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Kannu?

All Learning Management Systems have a learning curve, Kannu is no different. Luckily the curve is fast.

What problems is Kannu solving and how is that benefiting you?

This program helps organize and deliver course resources to my students. I has the capacity help me evaluate and provide feedback to my students. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Kannu?

Finally, a LMS whose interface was clearly designed by people who care about making full-featured systems, understand the importance of elegance, and grok the educational experience for teachers and students. Having long struggled with Coursework (tolerable) and Canvas (yikes), working with Kannu has been a breath of fresh air: 1) it doesn't feel like an endless hodge-podge of obligatory features checked off by some corporate committee, but a purposeful integration designed by educators; 2) the portfolio feature is simply excellent, particularly for courses with creative projects. Its presentation really elevates (rightfully) a sense of accomplishment and pride for the student as they go from project to project, and something they can later point to as part of a job application. LMS's are complex, and Kannu is no different (there is a learning curve). Yet Kannu is lightyears better than other LMS's I've used for one core reason: everything about it gives me the sense that it intensely cares about its quality of use, and by extension what my students and I can do with it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Kannu?

Compared to other LMS's I've used, there is nothing Kannu does less effectively, and many things it does significantly better, more elegantly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Kannu?

Kannu provides an easy to use and responsive interface for student learning, assessment, and online community. Plus it comes with features that are essential for people working with technology and media, such as the ability to work with program code, video, sound, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Kannu?

Kannu is not as flexible as tools like Moodle; it may not do absolutely everything you can imagine. But the tradeoff is that the things it does are actually very easy to understand, and it looks nice in the process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Kannu:

If the feature set matches what you need, I highly recommend it! Your students/users will be very happy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Kannu solving and how is that benefiting you?

I have used Kannu to run an online course with several thousand students. It allows me to spend time interacting with students about the actual course content, not worrying about course logistics. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Capabilities for uploading and embedding rich media e.g. video, audio Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Kannu?

Nothing I dislike - but we’d love to use it to run student competitions with judging and feedback. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Kannu:

Kannu looks and feels great! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Kannu solving and how is that benefiting you?

We needed a way for our in-person university students to self-learn and self-serve before and after our courses - they had pre-work and resources to prep before, and competitions to submit to afterwards. Kannu let us easily set up and run online components to these courses under our own organization’s brand with a lot of customization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Kannu?

This LMS is the best to deal with media content. Given how pervasive these often heavy audio / video / media files are, Kannu is handling it best. The online galleries are second to none too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Kannu?

The one thing that I think could be improved is the resources associated with a given class. Right now, it is just a list of links and adding structure to this would be useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Kannu solving and how is that benefiting you?

Kannu is helping to solve the problem of online teaching of media-heavy and computer-intensive classes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Kannu?

Kannu support is top notch. I've always gotten a prompt and thorough reply and I can tell that my input is making a difference in the direction of the product. Kannu makes it very easy to manage student submissions, which is a big deal for us because our projects have complex and varied deliverables. As an art and design school, interface and experience is important. Kannu is well designed, and the experience had by students is consistent with our aesthetic and interface standards. Finally, this is not glamorous, but extremely important: Kannu functions well as a communication platform for the course. Communications between faculty and students, students and students, and students and TAs can all happen in one place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Kannu?

Our school is a "google apps" integrated through and through. We use google apps, especially google drive, for everything. I would love to see Kannu/google drive integration. Without that, there are a few tasks that end up being redundant, such as end of semester archival and departmental selection of the best work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Kannu solving and how is that benefiting you?

I teach large coordinated studio classes (multiple sections of students, I teach a section and lead a team of teachers who each have their own sections). Organization takes a huge amount of time. Kannu keeps us all on the same page and saves me so much time that I would otherwise spend holding meetings. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
