It is notorious among the specialists in the business and preferable and most recognised set of tools for the major companies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are other tools such as Ataccama that have much better user experience for developers and flexibility to work faster and more efficient. Probably they are more cost effective too. However Informatica products maybe more reliable and with more history behind it which could be a plus for the companies using it. There is no doubt that these are powerful and recognised tools.
As far as personal experience with the Informatica MDM tools they are sometimes really rigit to use. Especially for some very common tasks. I also feel that the creativity part is someone restricted too.
The one thing that I most disliked were the Informatica MDM courses and final examination which didn't meet my expectations. Especially the test. So I don't truly recommend them. I found the test for the certification to be very subjective with a lot of unprofessional (maybe even wrongly asked and wrongly scored) and dubious questions that feel detached from the course materials and the product essentials. You might find yourself scoring almost 100% on difficult questions and important matters and on fields that you feel are pretty straight forward and you know them best you might reach extremely low score and wonder how it might have happened. Something like 0-20% which could cost you a lot in the end result for the test. This is due to the fact that a great number of questions look quite fancy and you don't know what they exactly mean. Even though you might be quite familiar with the material and implementation yourself you might question the logic behind those questions on practically very easy and/core practices within the scope. So there is a lot room for improvement on the questions to aim first and foremost to improve the knowledge of the participants and to find out which ones are ready for self-reliant professional experience.
