They're very intuitive for end users, with simple navigation that mirrors other common products. The back-end modeling and report building also has a really strong structure for the business analysts to work from. **What do you dislike about IBM Apptio?** The downsides are relatively small, with somewhat limited customization of report colors, text, etc. Certain products, such as Apptio BI are still being built out, so they're also a bit limited for the time being. **What problems is IBM Apptio solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's solving problems by helping our organization understand where IT resources are being consumed from a technology standpoint, as well as how those costs are allocated out to the business. It provides great detail to our business partners in understanding and acting strategically on their charges, as the previous (non-Apptio) reporting provided only a summarized monthly number. We're also in the process of implementing IT Planning which will give our tech finance analysts and tech managers a streamlined and centralized way of controlling their budget/forecasts. This will also help feed forecast/budget data into our other Apptio products for enhanced reporting. ### 5. Apptioone tool does not have any feature to add misisng tags in aws cloud, may be this feature can be introduced in future releases. **What problems is IBM Apptio solving and how is that benefiting you?** Apptioone tool helps us in generating monthly bills for us based on costcenter and divisional tags added on aws assets. it helps us knowing which application, division has more cloud consumption. there are some divisions who follow best pactises while others do not, the custom billing reports generated by apptioone helps us in knowing which divions are doing good and which not. ### 10. It is very easy to use the charts and graphs that are set according to the filters applied and also customizable as per our requirement. Asset management can also be managed easily as it keeps the track of the all the assets like laptops, desktops and other devices. It enables us to track and analyze various cost drivers like software, hardware and other expenses. **What do you dislike about IBM Apptio?** We have experienced that the new users find it difficult to navigate between the options. It has few limitations with regards to exporting which can be improved. Sometimes the performance also lags but that happens once in a while. I don't get the reason of complications. You can implement very complex models and associated processes, however some of the support tools for TBM Analysts could be better. IT provides a centralized view where IT spend can be seen and this helps eliminates confusion over the source of truth for financials as they all can be seen in one place. Additionally, the reporting features are great in CT and can be very customizable to allow budget, forecast, and actuals to be compared with variance at the same time. With this, it is very effective to be able to filter on CC, Department, ETC. to the view the client wants. **What do you dislike about IBM Apptio?** My biggest complaint so far has been on the vendor insight reporting where it does not allow for alerts to be set for all contracts but rather has to be set on an individual contract level. The desire to integrate BI reporting solutions is admirable. The IT-tailored nature of the software is great. **What do you dislike about IBM Apptio?** Software latency is a significant problem. Complex reporting structures take a long time to run in TBM. TBM reporting interface is clunky and not intuitive. The BI reporting tool is VERY basic and is a far cry from more mature tools like Tableau and Power BI. **What problems is IBM Apptio solving and how is that benefiting you?** IT accounting is a very different animal than most standard accounting environments (corporate, manufacturing, etc). Similar with other tiles. **What problems is IBM Apptio solving and how is that benefiting you?** Quick financials review, visually vs. excel, comparison to budget and forecasting, and a tool for entering budgets/forecasts, by the business owners or admins or both. ### 26. It renders the project reference data useless. The final result can be presented in report, which can filter in and out with a lot of side info- r highlight the issue/error in a short period of time. **What do you dislike about IBM Apptio?** i don't see any way we can do benchmarking for further improvement ( with IT support charges structure). Except for the monthly actual bill of IT, how forecast, plan and mini forecast would be fit into Apptio . **What problems is IBM Apptio solving and how is that benefiting you?** Running time for integrating all source info should be shorter than the current model. The reports are intuitive and provide good insights into technology spending. It's easy to look at tech spending from a very high level and then drill down to specific general ledger transactions. With the cost model we're able to track and allocate costs from their source through technical and business services, and ultimately to the consumer. We have reports that allow us to track spending versus budget, technical service costs, application TCO, business services TCO, and showback technology bills. Using outputs from Apptio One helps us have meaningful conversations between various IT departments, and with business areas as we work to remove legacy technologies and modernize our technology estate. The IT Planning portion of Apptio One has allowed us to streamline our budgeting and forecasting processes. What used to take several weeks to do can now be accomplished in a few days. Working with multiple currencies is much easier with Apptio One. **What do you dislike about IBM Apptio?** Reporting is limited to linking together only two tables per report (plus filters that may leverage additional tables). This causes users to view more than one report to gain the necessary insights. Having multiple reports on a dashboard helps, but it would be nice if Apptio One reporting behaved more like Power BI or Digital Fuel in this regard. Apptio BI does not currently have enough functionality to make it useful for many business cases. Presently Apptio One Cost Transparency reporting meets most of our needs, but we are looking forward to the day when Apptio BI has enough reporting functionality so we can leverage its email distribution and alert notification capabilities. **What problems is IBM Apptio solving and how is that benefiting you?** Apptio One helps us in many ways. - We've sold several portions of our U.S. business over the past few years, and Apptio One has helped us establish Transition Services Agreement (TSA) pricing while the buyer continued to leverage our technology services. - It helps us manage our public cloud spend, and with business cases regarding what to move to the public cloud, co-location facility, or keep in internal datacenters. - Application TCO reports are leveraged frequently as we look to consolidate our global application footprint. The reports help management understand which costs are variable, semi-variable, and fixed, and over what time horizons. - It's helped us have meaningful conversations between application teams and infrastructure teams, especially as we look to move applications to the cloud and consolidate our application footprint. Likewise, it has helped IT management in discussions with business leaders on the same topics. - Apptio One helps us track spending by supplier across multiple continents. - Apptio One makes managing technology spending from multiple continents and multiple general ledgers with multiple currencies, relatively easy to do. Before Apptio One it was a significant challenge that was easily challenged regarding accuracy. ### 39. It makes it easier for us to understand what we need to find it within the company. **What do you dislike about IBM Apptio?** With some document formats, the Apptio Software Business Management struggles consistently. Also, updates take time, which can become a challenge depending on how many files you have in your process and how much data you have. When you first work on a large screen, documents on a smaller screen or a laptop screen appear to be hard to visualize. While I believe Apptio is a great product, I think they have to work actively if they wish to be the leader of the market on this field. **Recommendations to others considering IBM Apptio:** Apptio is the ideal solution for an organization with a high IT and complexity cost.
