"ApptioOne is a Must Have for Budgeting and Forecasting"
What do you like best about IBM Apptio?

Our team has been diving deeper into Application Rationalization and the modeling aspects have helped tremendously in doing so. We have adjusted our allocations to show each part of an application's cost based on our data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Apptio?

The idea of an embedded AI function is great but the light bulb icon on the screen at all times is annoying. When you try to move it out of the way, it gets stuck and causes more of an issue. There should just be a "hide" option that you can click to remove the icon altogether. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Janie Carothers of IBM Apptio

Hi Dave! Thank you for your honest feedback. We love hearing that IBM Apptio is a useful tool for the team, except on Apptio Afternoons! I'll pass along this info about the TBM studio module. Thank you for being a valued Apptio customer!

"Essential for Cost Transparency and Financial Accountability"
What do you like best about IBM Apptio?

I appreciate how IBM Apptio provides excellent cost transparency and effectively bridges the gap between IT and finance data. It's great how it automates reporting and eliminates manual spreadsheet errors, making it essential for driving accountability and optimizing large-scale infrastructure spending. I like how it automatically maps complex cloud and infrastructure costs to specific business services and replaces error-prone spreadsheets with a single automated source of truth for accurate budgeting and financial accountability. The tool turns IT and cloud costs into clear, actionable business value dashboards, and it helps in bridging the communication gap. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Apptio?

The initial implementation and data tagging were manual and time-consuming. It could be improved with more AI-driven automated data mapping to reduce the manual burden of initial tagging and clearing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Helpful tool for IT cost visibility and planning"
What do you like best about IBM Apptio?

What I like most about IBM Apptio is that it provides a much clearer view of IT costs and budgeting. It’s especially helpful when I need to understand where the money is going and how resources are being used. The reporting tools are useful, and once I got used to the platform, it became easier to work with and made financial tracking feel more organized and easier to manage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Apptio?

One thing I don’t like that much is that it can feel a little overwhelming at first. Some parts of the platform are not very easy for new users, and it can take time to fully understand all the features. Also, some reports and settings could be more simple to adjust. "Empowering Financial Transparency and Planning"
What do you like best about IBM Apptio?

IBM Apptio has been a game-changer in how we manage and analyze IT financials. As an Apptio admin and daily user, I’ve seen firsthand how it streamlines Technology Business Management (TBM) processes, enabling clearer visibility into cost structures, budgeting, and forecasting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Apptio?

UX !!!!!! Can't say any particular thing. But, the overall UX can be improved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effective for Planning but Needs Interface Improvements"
What do you like best about IBM Apptio?

I like the standardization provided by IBM Apptio for each forecast, which enhances comparability and version control. This feature is particularly beneficial as it allows for consistent planning and forecasting across different scenarios, making it easier to align and compare financial outcomes. The ability to handle financial information efficiently and hold accountability by cost center owners is another aspect I appreciate, as it enables a clearer understanding of financial responsibilities and projections. These elements together contribute to more structured and transparent financial management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Apptio?

I find the user interface of IBM Apptio not nimble, making it less responsive and somewhat cumbersome to navigate. The process to load and validate actual data into IBM Apptio is notably time-consuming, taking about 1.5 hours, which can be quite inefficient. Also, I believe the addition of an AI feature that helps analyze information would be incredibly beneficial, as it is currently lacking in this aspect, potentially limiting the depth of insights I can derive quickly. "Efficient Costing with Intuitive UI, Needs Better Integration"
What do you like best about IBM Apptio?

I appreciate IBM Apptio's user interface, as it is designed thoughtfully enough to minimize the need for extensive training, making it accessible and straightforward to use for team members. The out-of-the-box features are a significant asset, as they have drastically reduced our time to market, which is usually much longer. These features meant that the initial setup only took two months, demonstrating the efficiency and readiness of the platform to meet our needs immediately. This aspect not only enhances productivity but also streamlines our operations, enabling us to focus on more strategic tasks without getting bogged down in a steep learning curve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Apptio?

I find the integration of all the modules within IBM Apptio problematic. Specifically, the integration from costing to billing lacks bidirectionality, which could enhance the system's efficiency and usefulness. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good tool to manage both financial and operational data"
What do you like best about IBM Apptio?

One thing i liked recently is that the cost visibility features are more useful, especially during monthly reviews. It's easier to check where the spending is going, which wasn't very clear earlier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Apptio?

The reporting side could be simpler. Sometimes there's too much data on screen which sometimes makes it a bit hard for me to quickly find what I am looking for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive UI but Data Reliability Needs Improvement"
What do you like best about IBM Apptio?

I appreciate IBM Apptio for its easy-to-use interface, which caters to both technical and non-technical users, making it accessible for everyone involved. This simplicity in design ensures that even complex financial operations related to cost allocation and optimization are straightforward to navigate. Another aspect that I love is the ability to create ad-hoc reports effortlessly and share them efficiently with business partners, enhancing collaboration and transparency across teams. Additionally, the commitment portfolio management feature works exceptionally well, helping me maintain oversight and control over financial commitments. The initial setup was also smooth and hassle-free, showcasing the product's user-friendly nature and efficiency. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Apptio?

I find data reliability to be an issue, as I often feel the need to validate the raw data presented. This undermines my confidence in the system, requiring additional steps to ensure data accuracy, which can be time-consuming. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Centralized IT Expense Tracking with Complexities"
What do you like best about IBM Apptio?

I appreciate that IBM Apptio provides a central location for all our IT expenses, which simplifies management greatly. When the data inputs are accurate, all tables are updated properly, apptio provides great insights to our IT costs and chargebacks. The cost allocations are precise, which adds a layer of financial accuracy that our company needs. The ability to customize cost allocation rules to fit our specific requirements is an invaluable feature that aligns perfectly with our business desires. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Apptio?

I find it complicated to explain the cost mapping structure to customers using IBM Apptio. The process of mapping cost pools to towers and then to services creates complexity. It makes it hard to navigate back to the original cost pools, which becomes challenging when trying to communicate the cost details effectively to clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
