What do you like best about Hivebrite?

Hivebrite’s platform is not ‘just’ information, like sharing the latest news, a calendar, or an alternative for the company’s website.

It interacts in a new way, stimulates engagement, makes it possible to capture the value of a community. The potential of cooperation and reciprocity makes it different from, for instance, LinkedIn.

The platform works intuitively and is adaptable. The technique allows activating involvement and engagement. The combination of an open (public) space and various private groups is excellent. So are the directory with geolocation and the combination with LinkedIn; this personalizes the vast community of (in the case of the f University of Amsterdam) alumni spread worldwide. Data management features are imperative and work very well, so do events and other calendar features.

We especially liked Hivebrite's support to realize the concept we had in mind, including some fundamental changes we had to make during the process. Working with Hivebrite turned into a genuine partnership. Hivebrite created new features upon request. What do you dislike about Hivebrite?

The feature that could use some update is the graphic design. Pictures, posts, the social media feed: they are a bit too voluminous (to my taste).

I advise others to work on a solid (business) plan before starting operations. It will prevent assumptions and help oversee the scope of the work upfront, during realization, and after delivering the platform (including putting an adequate professional, internal team on the project). The alumni of the UvA represent a vast community spread over the world. The platform UvA Bridge enables to involve many individuals, turning their value into support and inspiration for students and scientists. What do you like best about Hivebrite?

The community platform solution that Hivebrite offers is extensive in terms of features and supports community management from start to finish. The platform and features are very customisable, so you can adapt it to the needs and branding of your organisation, making it seem like a custom platform to your users.

Features we like best and use most: events (+ registrations), social wall to publish messages, 121 networking/matchmaking, and private groups.

The admin panel is intuitive and there are lots of helpful articles and FAQ's.

In terms of user experience, Hivebrite has improved this part of the platform a lot. We now rarely have downtime and the design looks fresher than a couple of years ago.

The support from the success managers and tech support team is great. They are friendly and very responsive.

What do you dislike about Hivebrite?

It's not a custom solution and they have many clients, so our needs and wishes for the platform are taken into account for new developments and in the product roadmap. We even get to take part in beta testing and product labs, but the features will never be 100% what you want them to be.

It can take a long time until (bigger) technical issues are resolved that are client-specific.

We have to manage the Google Play and App Store accounts ourselves. Hivebrite does the technical upkeep of the mobile apps, but we have to ensure that we comply with all the Google Play and App store requirements, which requires extra resources. What problems is Hivebrite solving and how is that benefiting you?

FoodHIVE is the one-stop-shop for food system professionals. It will ensure that you keep up to date with everything happening across the food system, as well as giving you valuable access to members of the EIT Food community.

As a training coordinator, I rely on Hivebrite daily to manage groups, organize events, engage with users, and explore features like journeys and mentoring programs. The platform offers a wide range of tools that cater to various needs, making it versatile and powerful for handling multiple tasks.

What do you like best about Hivebrite?

Hivebrite's back office allows clients to customize so many aspects of their users' interface -- from the site map's design to branding elements and content/copy. This customization capability results in a platform that can look, read, and feel unique to the client's use case. It's like "next best thing" to building software yourself, but when you use Hivebrite you don't have to carry the burden of the product's development on your own shoulders. Instead, you've got the backing of a top-notch solutions engineering bench, client success leaders that really care about your use case, and onboarding specialists that are wizards at helping you get your Hivebrite site to do what you want it to. What do you dislike about Hivebrite?

Each module that drives Hivebrite's core offerings can only be employed for one aspect of the site map. It would be better if a module (its intended functionality) could be enabled in multiple dimensions of our site. (Otherwise, once you've used that module for one page in your site, you can't use that module again.) We also wish we had more customization capabilities when it comes to user search/filter options. Finally, our biggest wish list item for Hivebrite is that they add on a 1-1 meeting scheduling workflow to power actual connections made through the people directory or mentoring module. What problems is Hivebrite solving and how is that benefiting you?

Our users need an easily accessible platform on which to convene -- some of them are college students/alumni, others are real-world professionals. These users aren't consuming a product or service as paying digital customers; rather, we're trying to gain their buy-in and commitment to our online Network so that we can facilitate an online career information, networking, and opportunity platform, through which the career-seeking users gain personal, professional benefit. In short, our users have to WANT to be active on our site... it's not required. For them to want to be active, we need UX workflows that are seamless, UI that is appealing, and the ability to enhance the site regularly. It's a problem when we can't shape those things. And, all too often, SaaS clients really can't shape those things very well because of SaaS products that are cookie-cutter and stagnant in development. But, Hivebrite is different. It's better. It addresses our needs and therefore solves the problem we would otherwise have ...of a site that isn't as desirable as we want it to be, and our hands and feet tied in our ability to do anything about it. What do you like best about Hivebrite?

Hivebrite is a great tool for community building in a decentralized environment. It enables faculties and alumni associations to create their own environment within the platform according to their own needs, while still maintaining one source of truth for alumni data management.

We received a strong support during the onboarding phase and implementation of the platform. It is possible to customize the platform to the style and needs of your organisations.

What do you dislike about Hivebrite?

Given HiveBrite is a Saas, the customization is sometimes limited. Certain changes to or additional features can be requested but won't be developped if not many customsers have a similar request. It is also possible that you are paying for features that you won't be using, while additional new features sometimes require an additional fee. The system tends to have bugs. The implementation with existing company software is not always possible or requires additional solutions. HiveBrite allows us to have a single source of truth for alumni relations throughout a large and decentralized organization. The platform contains a strong mailing module which our large number of admins make use of very often. It allows our alumni associations and faculties to communicate with their alumni. What do you like best about Hivebrite?

What do you dislike about Hivebrite?

It is not customizable enough; the app doesn't always work properly, and neither do the notifications. A live feed without an algorithm doesn't make much sense in large communities with different user profiles coming from multiple industries. It is a good solution for a creating an international community with a specific focus, in our case entrepreneurship, innovation, early-stage startups and education. Also, it is a good alternative for university partners exploring digital tools; some of them do not have enough resources to manage a platform by themselves. What do you dislike about Hivebrite?

As it is a solution for many clients the customization ends at one point and for your specific needs you have to hope that other clients also needing that. Therefore we would like to have more freedome in our group management. For example to have the option that people in groups can also post events by themselves. As we are an international community Hivebrite allows us to have one digital meeting spot for a lot of people. So with this digital interface we can bring people together which don´t see each other often.

What do you like best about Hivebrite?

Hivebrite offered a very comprehensive Onboarding journey and we felt very supported by our Onboarding specialist. Since onboarding, we have received ongoing support from our Customer Success Manager.

The user interface of Hivebrite is clean, customisable and easy to navigate. Using different types of pages /spaces likes groups, forums, live feeds, we have been able to build our platform to meet the unique needs of our community, and can quickyl and easily make adjustments as the needs of our community change.

The communications tools are very helpful and easy to use. With Hivebrite we can create dynamic, professional, nicely designed email campaigns to match the look and feel of our community.

The customer support team are very quick to respond! If I have an issue, I know that I won't be stuck with it for long.

What do you dislike about Hivebrite?

The analytics features, which are relatively new and have helped a lot, could be improved further. There is still quite a bit of manual work involved to do a deep analysis of engagment data.

Integration with other support tools is limited. It would be great to be able to link Hivebrite with Zendesk, for example.

It would be great if Hivebrite could be used to offer e-learning opportunities for our community, either through an integration or through more advanced native features. What problems is Hivebrite solving and how is that benefiting you?

We maintain a community of 900+ online language teachers who are based all around the world and who, without an online community platform, do not have a space where they can share and connect with each other. Hivebrite solves this problem. By offering our community members a space for sharing and connection, we are facilitating peer-to-peer support and skill development. Additionally, providing a community space that is visible and accessible by all teachers, boosts the sense of community among the teacher and lifts their overall satisfaction with working for Babbel. What do you like best about Hivebrite?

The platform works really well for our members to connect and host events. There's so many helpful details that really make it easy to connect. But as for an admin side, this is the best customer service I've ever experienced. They respond so quick with any questions we may have, are flexible with our plans, are amazing trainers, and they take our suggestions into account when creating new features. I've been working with Hivebrite for a year and the amount of advancement on this platform is incredible. Our reps, Erin and Rachael, are the best reps I've ever worked with. What do you dislike about Hivebrite?

The only major downside to Hivebrite (or really any member platform) is getting those members to be social. You're competing with other social apps that have extreme algorithms to keep users on the app. So creating a habit practice with your members can be challenging, but I really don't think this is Hivebrite specific. What problems is Hivebrite solving and how is that benefiting you?

We have a global community of women in IP. So, there's really no place for everyone to connect in person. We have a pretty concentrated membership in Silcon Valley and in D.C., but everywhere else is more sparse. This site allows folks from Australia to connect virtually with folks from San Jose or Charlotte. We use Hivebrite to host our events, and that has been extremely successful. We host in-person and virtual events like networking or CLE events. We get incredibly high registrations for our events every month, even virtual events. We also use Hivebrite as a revenue source. Occasional workarounds: While the platform is generally robust, there have been a few instances where we've had to find manual workarounds to achieve specific functionalities.

1. Connecting a geographically dispersed community: As a global organization, Airwards needs to connect individuals and organizations passionate about drone technology across continents. Hivebrite provides the digital space to do this seamlessly.

3. Facilitating meaningful interactions: Hivebrite provides a variety of tools to foster interaction and engagement beyond just basic communication.

What do you like best about Hivebrite?

Hivebrite's flexible design, ease of implementation, ease of integration, member interaction features, and customer support stand out. With no (or minimal) tech skills required, you can customize the layout of every page with drag-and-drop page elements and automated content. Member profiles can be customized to reflect the precise information that is relevant to your community, and members can find and connect with other members in a variety of ways through the platform.

What do you dislike about Hivebrite?

What problems is Hivebrite solving and how is that benefiting you?

I've used Hivebrite for multiple use cases, including

1) Education/learning - helping people connect around shared learning experiences. The Hivebrite platform made it easy to create "hubs" for each class where the students can connect, access content, share content, engage in threaded conversations online, and more.

2) Industry and functional Networking - people in certain corporate roles were isolated and in need of connecting with people in the same/similar roles in other organizations. Hivebrite's platform facilitated connections between people who were geographically dispersed, enabling networking, support, idea sharing, and more. It also created a natural word-of-mouth marketing engine for a product suite that supported people in these roles when existing clients connected with prospects.

3) Employment search - Hivebrite played a central role in helping connect job seekers with organizations that were interested in those with particular career profiles. Hivebrite gave the employers the ability to identify and connect with niche candidates easily and quickly while helping candidates with unique backgrounds find organizations that value their uniqueness.
