"AI-Driven Insights with Effortless Precision"
What do you like best about Hex?

I really like the AI agent in Hex because it's very intuitive and does a great job of understanding the questions I'm asking. It turns these into actionable results and, if it's unclear about anything, it asks follow-up questions. My favorite part is using the AI agent to quickly and efficiently find the data I need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hex?

Sometimes it isn't totally intuitive (if I ask it to pull in data like another dashboard it doesn't always match filters) but eventually I can get it right after asking questions to the agent Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Versatile Data Tool with Minor Hiccups"
What do you like best about Hex?

I love the downfall cell update logic and how you can access upstream cells easily. The separation of the App Logic and Notebook parts helps to show exactly what we want to present. It combines freedom in data querying and visualization with the ability to present things neatly. I also enjoy being able to query easily and be quite 'drafty' with my querying, while still presenting something clean to stakeholders. Also, being able to pull out a viz in a few minutes is really nice Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hex?

I've been having python version problems lately, and I can only do up to 3/4 nested sections in the Notebook, and I would like to be able to create more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"AI-Driven Data Analysis Made Effortless"
What do you like best about Hex?

I like Hex for its AI feature, which helps me keep progressing by identifying what breaks my queries. It can test join keys, figure out where my script is wrong, and even help me write an entire query when I explain what I need. I also appreciate the ability to bring multiple data sets together from different places and review them in various ways. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hex?

I find it challenging to easily identify join keys in the exploration tab. While you can click through two data lakes, I wish the AI could help identify matches to other data tables or data lakes. Additionally, I wish that Hex would let me separate my notebook into separate tabs, similar to how the front-facing app is separated. I don't like when my notebook scrolls for so long and wish I could toggle between tabs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Versatile Tool with Integration Perks but Sluggish Performance"
What do you like best about Hex?

I like Hex mostly for its interface, which makes it easy to create queries using different codes like SQL and Python. This allows us to access data from different sources efficiently. It's helpful to have everything in one place, especially since we deal with multiple sources of information that need different processing and SQL languages. The integration with Google Forms and other tools is also very helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hex?

Hex is very slow, which is a big downside. I also have issues with cache not refreshing as expected, especially with large projects, and it takes a long time to refresh. There are limitations on tables, particularly with conditional formatting, as it can only be applied based on the value of the specific column, rather than referencing a different column or using a formula for more dynamic functionality. "Effortless SQL-Python Integration, But Row Limits Can Be Restrictive"
What do you like best about Hex?

It is so easy to combine SQL with Python! I love how accessible it is to call variables created in different cells. The charts and pivot tables tools also work great and are very intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hex?

This is probably related with my subscription tier, but I cannot work with tables with millions of rows, so I need to reduce my datasets early in the projects, which may be a bit limiting sometimes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful Python/SQL/Markdown (and R), but needs universal Cmd/Ctrl+Enter to run cells"
What do you like best about Hex?

The combination of Python, SQL, and Markdown within one "script" is invaluable. Sometimes Python doesn't do enough and I need to write some SQL code. Also we have a lot of R users in our organization so adding that is super helpful for us! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hex?

The fact that I can't press "Cmd + Enter" to run a cell is borderline criminal. The way you have users run code by defaulting to run every cell is awful. It genuinely makes me want to use other products. "Cmd + Enter" or "Ctrl + Enter" is universal in programming. It should be the case in Hex as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Enhanced Visibility and Integration with Hex"
What do you like best about Hex?

I use Hex for understanding revenue, costs, capacity use, and reliability of our infrastructure. I appreciate how it makes it way easier to get visibility into what's going on and to share insights between technical and non-technical parties. It's like a lingua franca for working with finance. I really like the ease of integration with BigQuery and the overall look and feel of the dashboards it creates. It's easier for me to use Hex to query BigQuery than using BigQuery's own UIs. The initial setup of Hex was also very easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hex?

There are a few things: 1. The autocomplete is still really bad for Python. 2. Better inline views of tables, etc to guide me in creating queries. 3. I'd love to have some more chart types to play with. 4. There should be better support for blending different time series into the same plot without creating additional dataframes and hacking it the hard way. For example, blending a revenue query with a cost query is actually kind of hard. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great for Data Analysis, Improvable in Charts"
What do you like best about Hex?

I like the organization of the notebook in Hex, clean and tidy thanks to the ability to rename everything, and I find it easy to update using the search tool. I appreciate the ability to comment, which allows me to ask for feedback on charts directly. I find the integrated AI very useful for solving errors by providing context, for performing extractions with great accuracy and Python code. Additionally, the ability to give personalized instructions is an advantage, as Hex is able to correctly filter the various tables based on the requests made. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hex?

The default charts of Hex are limited and lack important features. They are not very interactive once published in a dashboard, and the axis names cannot be parameterized with input. The collections function is unclear and lacks a system of folders and subfolders, making it difficult for stakeholders to find the dashboards and analyses of their interest. The settings for publishing a notebook are unclear regarding the use of the cache. The graph mode of the notebook is interesting but currently confusing and does not help in understanding the organization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"AI-Powered Data Analytics Game-Changer"
What do you like best about Hex?

I love how Hex's AI agent keeps improving with every release, really empowering my job through brainstorming, code building for SQL or Python, and general debugging. It's pretty smart and handles notebook cells, such as deletion, creation, input, and filters, effectively builds apps on its own, and significantly speeds up the delivery of data apps. I use Hex for data analytics, developing data apps, sharing notebooks with colleagues, and cooperating with fellow data analysts. The integration with Slack for notifications and the ability to attach graphs in Notion smartpapers are also valuable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hex?

I don't like the repetitive clicks for formatting metrics and repetitive specifications to prompt the AI agent. Also, the repetitive cell creations just for adding text in the app builder are tedious. The notification system should be more flexible about the conditions to trigger alerts, not limited to when a dataframe reaches a certain amount of rows. Initially, using Kjingas grammar for dynamic filters was not straightforward, and it was unclear how to feed SQL codes stored in strings from other dataframes. "Efficient Low-Code Platform with Easy Setup"
What do you like best about Hex?

I really like how easy Hex is to use. They have a lot of prebuilt components that require less customization, which makes it more straightforward. I also enjoy being able to query from other data frames that you can produce within Hex. It's self-referential and allows for efficient data manipulation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hex?

Hex has released a couple updates that have broken some of my setups because some logic that previously worked no longer works within the new update. It's a bit frustrating having to go back and update every single one of my setups when one of those updates happens. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
