As a small business owner, Guideline has been very easy to use and implement. Before signing up for Guideline, I had the opportunity to have a virtual meeting with a representative who was very helpful in answering my questions about different options for retirement benefits that I can offer my employees so I was able to pick a retirement plan confidently. I've reached out to their customer support since then and have gotten quick responses. It also works seemlessly with Gusto. Definitely recommend Guideline. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have not found anything I dislike so far. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Having a dedicated implentation contact has been so instrumental in making the transition to using Guideline from other providers so seemless. They know the other products out there and understand the lingo in a way that they can help provide translation and get a very complex process streamlined. I appreciate how well this tool integrated into Gusto and will continue to recommend that my clients use this as their retirement plan administrator. Once things are set up, the employees can self-cater the service very easily and interact with the customer service options so minimal intervention is required. The website is very intuitive. It would be helpful to have more tiered pricing options for nonprofits and micro businesses. While there are some incentives for starting these benefits, the long term costs are hard to absorb. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

This is my first time saving with a 401K myself as well as assiting ownership with the plan for the company. The Guideline portal is VERY user friendly but when you partner that with the amazing customer support team, you really couldn't ask for a better system to help your employees plan for the future. Honestly, I have zero complaints or dislikes about Guideline. We've used them since we decided to offer a 401K plan to our employees and it's been smooth sailing ever since. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The level of automation and the relatively low cost for both subscribers and for us as a company makes this an ideal solution. As a small business setting up a 401(k) can be a daunting task and they have made it easy both in a low friction set up and in ongoing processes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I haven't found anything troubling to this point. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

As an employee, I had a terrible experience using Rippling and Guideline together.
I wanted to start contributing in December and maximize my contributions before year end. I setup everything by Dec 9th and Guideline's website showed confirmation that 100% of my Dec 13 paycheque would go into my 401k. Perfect, I thought.
But Dec 13 comes around and my pay goes into my normal bank account instead of my 401k. I submit a support ticket but don't receive a reply for 24hrs so I call in and wait on hold for an hour before talking to a human, who doesn't have answers but says she'll followup. Fine.
Finally I hear back by email that apparently Dec 9 was too late to make the change before the Dec 13 payroll run. Seemingly admitting it's their mistake for having shown me confirmation that everything was going to work, but not actually taking any responsibility for it. Incredibly frustrating. Now instead of maximizing my contributions by having 100% of my final paychecks going into my 401k, at most I'll be able to do the Dec 31st paycheck. Guideline showed absolutely no empathy and it appears they fail to understand how their lack of reliable services has real and significant impacts on people's financial lives.
An additional issue - on my support phone call, the rep casually mentioned that they don't recommend selecting "100% contributions" as it might not get processed properly. I later found a blog on their website confirming this and stating you cannot contribute more than 92.35%. How could they have possibly not realized they need to put this type of infomation directly on their platform? No one is going to think to search for this obscure blog. Why not show it to your users when they try to select an amount over 92.35%? I asked the Support team to share this feedback with their Product team, but they seem to just genuinely not care. It relieves us from having the burden to administer 401(k) so it saves us a lot of time. Guideline’s ability to integrate with our Payroll provider saves time and helps us avoid human/manual errors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While the platform is employee-friendly, there are relatively few resources for employers to help educate staff about 401(k) plans and the importance of retirement savings. More tools to assist employers in educating and engaging employees could be useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Guideline is very simple to set up and use. There is a great support community as well where representatives guide you into obtaining the benefit plan that works best for you. Everything is also automated and is automatically integrated with our payroll platform. We use the automatic deductions acording to how our benefit plan was built are deducted on every payroll cycle; biweekly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I do not have dislikes so far about Guideline! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The transfer from another provider to Guideline was made so easy and didn't take up all of my time. The ease of which they made things happen and walk me through was so nice to have. Each person that assisted in the onboarding and transfer was knowledgeable and turn around times were excellent. I love the way it integrates with QuickBooks Online and the ease of use for the employees as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have not found any downsides to using Guideline. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Guideline came recommended when we moved our payroll services to OnPay. We left Paychex because we were wanting something with a more "customer focused" feel, and we definitely got it! They worked hard to make sure we understood the transition process and worked with us to alleviate the frustration with the roadblocks Paychex kept putting up for us. I'm very happy with our decision to switch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I haven't run into anything yet. All is good Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Having Guideline to manage our company's retirement plan and employee contributions significantly simplifies the process and helps us manage it all with such ease. It's simple, easy to set up and use, integrate into our company, and reliable. As an HR Administrator, I have managed previous retirement plans for companies and by far the Guideline platform is the best one to date. I can honestly say that Guideline alleviates so much admin, menial tasks, and stress that can come with managing a company retirement plan. The customer support team are also very easy to get in touch with and they're quick to respond and resolve issues. Overall, highly recommend them to other companies. When I took over the HR responsibilities at my current company, we had to go through the process of changing the plan administrator role from the previous HR lead to me. I would say that this was somewhat of a tedious process but I am aware that this has to be done in a legitimate way for legal and compliance reasons. It took a few days to get it sorted so my only critique is to streamline this process, make it easier somehow because when there's a change within a company, these things need to be completed in a shorter turnaround time.
