Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) Pros and Cons

I like the simplicity and ease of use from a UI standpoint. From the main dashboard, we can easily trigger a VM to become a full-fledged Kubernetes cluster on GKE, which isn’t the case with other providers. Another feature I appreciate is the “Solutions” sidebar, which provides a great overview of available services for different purposes—even for users who might not be familiar with them.

From a CLI perspective, I like the RBAC functionality. Another strong point is its support for a variety of integrations. Additionally, customer support is excellent, especially when dealing with technical or billing-related issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Nothing. One thing I would love to see is an option to automatically provision an external load balancer when configuring an ingress controller like NGINX in Kubernetes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I liked the Services like Cloud Run, Cloud Run functions, BigQuery, VPN Gateways , VPC Access connector, App Engine. Also the Cloud DNS service is an amazing thing to ensure more security with the resources and Concept of Project is another intresting factors when comparing to AWS or Azure Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I Faced some challenges mostly with App engine and IAM , i didn't feel easiness in these areas. Also the authenication part is bit complex and not quite easy Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

A robust suite of AI/ML services (Vertex AI, Cloud TPU). It was really helpful with pre-trained models for sentiment analysis, risk assessment and customer segmentation. The team had an easy process to train and deploy custom models for portfolio optimization and fraud detection.

Regarding infrastructure, Kubernetes Engine and Cloud SQL reduced the operational overhead and low latency for our users worldwide.

It took months to find the balance for optimizing cloud costs (don't start a project without it!).

Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) offers running containerized workloads on managed cluster where master nodes are managed by Google and worker nodes can be managed by client or by google. Building and running greenfield microservice is easy, but sometimes it becomes difficult to resolve monolithic application dependencies; hence converting and running workloads on GKE becomes difficult. I am working on Mahindra as cloud engineer , all use case that we have on our company I will work on , like deploy application on Compute instance , GKE and pass servcie cloud run also . and data analytic part : we used cloud composer , big query , data proc cluster .. as storage we use cloud spanner , gcs , sql .. at ui and servcie side google cloud is ok , Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
