What do you like best about Google Cloud?

I've been using google cloud as my primary cloud on my day to day basis. The things that I like the most are:

1: Major feature is it offers per-minute billing, which its competitor does not offer

2: The cost of resources is less competitive compared to other providers.

3: Google cloud offers us higher discounts on longer commitments.

4: Google cloud is best at its machine learning and Bigdata services.

5: last but not least, google cloud has a very interactive UI. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Cloud?

There are a few things that I don't like about GCP are:

1: The one thing I dislike the most is that they don't have proper documentation for their services.

2: GCP has less number of features and services as compared to AWS.

3:GCP don't provide that strong support for issues . Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Google Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?

Google Cloud has its tool, Google Kubernetes engine, which is a fully managed service that manages all the nodes and pools, so i won't have to worry about the configurations, and I can focus more on the application development.

Creating and maintaining an application or website has become very easy with the help of the GCP cloud. Within 1-2 minutes, your website or application is live , which is very fast if we compare it with others.

Migrate to compute engine which recently helped me alot while migrating my AWS workload to GCP compute engine VM. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Google Cloud Run?

Cloud Run provides a way to run containerized applications or workloads directly without the need to provision resources. It is well supported in terraform and integrated in the GCP ecosystem so that it can access an image repository, provides an endpoint that can be called by other tools such as schedules, workflows, or API calls, has the expected benefits of monitoring, logging and security, and supports a versioning system (revisions) so that changes can be rolled back quickly. It also supports several widely used programming languages so it is feasible to use for the majority of the scenarios. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Cloud Run?

Depending on the specific situation, sometimes you cannot delete a specific revision thus polluting the interface.

It has a timeout that might be inconvenient for long running workloads or specific processes that depend on third party services that have long response times.

Due to the managed nature of the service, some settings are difficult to edit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Google Cloud Run solving and how is that benefiting you?

It provides a very easy way to deploy and expose services that would run workloads while leveraging containerization. This is benefitial for developers that already have a containerized setup and would like to deploy it on the cloud. Cloud Run is also managed, so compared to other tools, it provides a very fast implementation speed that would allow for a service to serve production without configuration complexities. What do you like best about Google Cloud Run?

Google Cloud Run is a fully managed compute platform that enables you to run containerized applications in the cloud. Some of the benefits of using Cloud Run include:

Fully managed: Cloud Run takes care of the infrastructure, scaling, and maintenance of your applications. You only need to worry about building and deploying your code.

Serverless: Cloud Run is a fully serverless platform, meaning that you only pay for the resources your application consumes when it is running. This can result in cost savings compared to traditional compute platforms.

Automatic scaling: Cloud Run automatically scales your applications up and down based on demand, ensuring that your application is able to handle any workload without requiring manual intervention.

Container-based: Cloud Run allows you to deploy containerized applications, giving you the flexibility to run your code in any language or runtime that is supported by containers.

Easy to use: Cloud Run offers an easy-to-use interface and a variety of tools, including the Cloud Run command-line interface (CLI), Cloud Run for Anthos, and the Cloud Run Button, to help you deploy and manage your applications.

Overall, Cloud Run is a powerful and flexible platform that can help you build and run applications at scale in the cloud, with minimal overhead and maintenance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Cloud Run?

It is difficult to say what might be least helpful about Cloud Run as it depends on your specific use case and requirements. Here are a few potential limitations or challenges that you might encounter when using Cloud Run:

Container size limitations: There is a maximum container size limit of 10 GB for Cloud Run applications. If you have very large applications or need to store large amounts of data, you may need to find an alternative solution.

Cold start times: Like other serverless platforms, Cloud Run applications can have longer cold start times when they are first deployed or after a period of inactivity. This can be an issue for applications that require very fast response times.

Limited runtime support: Cloud Run currently only supports certain runtime environments, including Node.js, Python, .NET, Go, and Java. If your application requires a different runtime, you may need to find an alternative solution.

Limited network connectivity options: Cloud Run currently only supports HTTP traffic, so applications that require other types of network connectivity may need to be run on a different platform.

Cost: While Cloud Run can offer cost savings compared to traditional compute platforms, it may not be the most cost-effective solution for all applications. It is important to carefully evaluate your costs and potential savings before choosing a compute platform.

Overall, it is important to carefully evaluate your specific requirements and consider whether Cloud Run is the best fit for your use case. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Google Cloud Run solving and how is that benefiting you?

What do you like best about Google Cloud Run?

CloudRun is a service that allows you to quickly and easily deploy container-based services without the need to deal with the complexity of full GKE. CloudRun is based on knative (https://knative.dev/docs/) open-source project and is provided as a managed service within GCP. This means two things:

1. There is no vendor lock since you can always migrate your deployment to knative project hosted on any other platform

2. There is no technology lock since CloudRun uses standard containers. It means that if, at some point, your project outgrows CloudRun limitations - you can always switch to GKE.

This makes CloudRun a great starting option for many projects. It removes the need to deal with GKE complexity until the project gets traction. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Cloud Run?

There is not much to dislike. Your projects either works within CloudRun limitations (and than CloudRun is great) or it don't (in this case CloudRun won't work for you and you need to use GKE). Of course, there is always more features that you can wish would be added to CloudRun out-of-box (like permanent storage for example). But since service is limited by design - it is not about disliking it, but about the question "can your project use it or not"... Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Google Cloud Run solving and how is that benefiting you?

In case project is represented as a singe container, CloudRun allows to deploy and scale this project without any overhead or complexity. We use it for many small projects or prototypes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
