Gearset is a market leader for a reason in the Salesforce Dev Ops space, historically having been built to fill a crucial need in the marketplace it is seeing more competition lately from other competitors including Salesforce which has started really improving it's own Dev Ops tools but the comparison tool for deploying metadata still is head and shoulders better than other solutions out there along with other tools like data backup, data deployment (including CPQ data deployment) and other solutions. Gearset has long been a market leader in the industry and their pricing reflects that which can be more expensive than some solutions. Certainly it is worth the investment in my opinion but some companies might find that to be a barrier to adoption if price is high on their priority list for a Dev Ops solution. The ability to leverage the metadata API in a declarative way. Monitoring metadata changes in production environments. The ability to create filters for quicker polling of metadata during comparisons. Integrating the change management process with our ALM tools! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Managing and sharing connections can sometimes be difficult without governance and controls, but the tool does have the ability to do this. Setting up a CI/CD pipeline against Azure repos is a bit difficult as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Gearset makes it easy to deploy changes between Salesforce environments, to not only metadata but also reference data. I would never ever be without Gearset, it makes it so simple to compare and deploy components between orgs that you'll wonder why you suffered with the devops centre or change sets for so long. Nothing, it's amazing. I don't dislike anything about Gearset :) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Gearset is easy to use. It does everything you would expect it to do and does it well. I have never had such responsive and helpful support with any other software product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's a great product. If I had to ask for an improvement, I'd like the ability to write search expressions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I like best about Gearset is its ability to automate and streamline the DevOps process. It provides a single platform for managing code, deployments, and testing, which can help to reduce errors and improve efficiency.
For the current client we msotly used for CPQ data, but increases a lot the efficiency and reduces the possibility of Human error Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Mainly two points:
Lack of community Support: Gearste does not have a large community of users, which can make it difficult to find help and support when needed.
Deletion of records: Its not possible to delete records on our current org using only Gearset. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
From a declarative Salesforce Administrator's perspective, Gearset has significantly improved from using Salesforce change sets. Due to our many limitations with deploying specific metadata types between sandbox testing environments and production, it almost rationalized not having a proper internal DevOps process and developing directly into production.
The training and support we received from the Gearset team during onboarding was extensive and very responsive. Due to Gearset's level of detail vs. our former solution, there was a learning curve, although I found their knowledge base quite helpful also. As a growing Salesforce org, I am glad we have transitioned to a formal DevOps process, and the implementation of Gearset was the foundation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Now that I have used Gearset for some time, there seem to be limitations on how the metadata is transferred between environments. Notably, Gearset appears to lack the ability to transfer object settings accurately (EG: email to case, case autoresponse rules) and lightning email templates, for example. It can be frustrating to deploy an object "setting" for something relatively minor like email to case (along with other metadata components for a specific project) and not have one or two things from that package not transfer to the deployment target.
It is also sometimes a bit cumbersome to determine what metadata components are listed under each Gearset "category in the filter before you run the comparison between environments. For example, as a Salesforce Administrator, I have always known objects to be either "standard" (out of the box) or "custom" - The Gearset filter lists all selectable objects under "custom'. Another example is picklist fields - It would be easier to find a specific picklist field without searching for filter categories: custom object, standard value set, and global value set. If these were logically grouped (vs. the default filter of alphabetical), it might be easier to find specific fields. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is a great product for monitoring and deploying metadata from UAT into production for Salesforce. We can roll back any features that we might have added too early or needed for further review. It's also relatively inexpensive (although our price might go up significantly). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I think we're about to undergo a massive price increase, which might make the product to expensive for us to use. We also have CPQ and it is helpful that you are allowed to use Gearset with CPQ, but I don't think it should be an added expense. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Gearset simplifies most of the tedious back-end Salesforce maintenance tasks. Need to transfer prod data to your developer sandbox? Have a team and want to monitor their progress and changes? Want to switch to Source Code as the source of truth for your production Org? Gearset is great for all of the above. Gearset easily restores all faith in humanity after fighting with change sets for years. And their Support team is absolutely top-tier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As with any powerful program, you have to be careful. You could easily alter production metadata without even realizing it. For example, if you're using CI and make a change directly in Production, it's detected as a difference in Gearset and is overwritten, even if not selected as an object to deploy. If you are still in the process of building your fluid CI/CD platform, make sure to select "Only changes in the commit (Delta CI)" as your Sync Type. Also their sales team is frustrating to work with and discounts are very difficult to find, but once you're in the product, it's well worth the journey to get there. The best part that I liked about Gearset is that its ease and flexibility for deployments. Using it we are able to pick multiple metadata components faster and also we don't have to worry about its sequencing. And also the user interface is pretty user friendly. I am awe of this tool so I can't compain about it at all. Only thing I noticed which could be improved is about the code merges and back merges. It could be a great add on on this tool to have that flexibility with less manual intervention. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is a fantastic product for tracking and transferring metadata for Salesforce from UAT to production. Any features that may have been implemented prematurely or that were required for more review can be removed. Additionally, it's reasonably priced (although our cost could increase dramatically). Although I haven't really seen anything wrong with Gearset, I do wish you could generate a metadata dictionary using the information it collects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
