FalconView is reliable and easy to learn. It appears to have been designed for use by analysts, and performs functions that either have not been reproduced in its competitors; or require significantly more work to accomplish similar tasks. For example, converting coordinate systems in Google Earth (e.g. MGRS to GeoCoords) requires menu navigation and several clicks. By contrast, converting coordinate systems in FalconView can be accomplished by pressing "Ctrl + G" on the keyboard and typing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The interface is getting dated, and some features available in other software is not yet available in FalconView. For example, the integration of digital terrain elevation data (DTED) as a 3D view; or the ability to arbitrarily rotate the map, which is almost universally available by click-dragging with the mouse in other software. One major pitfall is that, in the versions of FalconView I used, it was not easy to move information between FalconView and other industry standard products.
