If you need to do something new, there's probably a tool for it. Generally tools are straightforward and the userhelp is really good, explaining all the possible choices on each tool's setting right next to the setting box.
Being able to drag and drop elements from window to window, including tools, Model builder etc is a real time saver. Inter-compatibility and conversion tools mean you can switch between CAD and other programs with ease.
The label engine is the best I have ever used, and the 'convert to annotations' feature means if you are still unhappy you can manually improve the labelling in the layout window. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Trying to find tools using terminology that is often unexpected!
Usually always get there though, internet searches really help. There is often more than one way to do something which can clutter the toolbars unnecessarily.
Occasional problems with exporting to .pdf or merging when a lot of data is being used can be frustrating. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

ArcGIS is users friendly. You can analyze data easily and make beautiful maps and reports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have no dislike with this Software .You get frequently updates if there are any bugs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

If you know this program well, you can do a lot with it - this includes simple map making to advanced spatial analyses. Lots of industries use this software, from Architecture and Urban Planning to the Police Department to UPS and Fedex. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The challenge is knowing how to use the software. The learning curve is quite steep to do simple tasks, and even steeper to do advanced tasks. Often times, staff will need to attend a training class or program to become comfortable enough to use this software on their own. The UX is also not very great, and not intuitive at all - same goes for designing a map once you've created it (often you'll need to export to Illustrator to pretty it up).
Warning - this program ONLY works on WINDOWS OS (not Mac). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
ArcGIS has had the longest run of GIS software. Due to this, it is the most well-documented GIS software available to industry and the consumer. As GIS software, it is adequate and serves the needs of most users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
ArcGIS is expensive and does not interface well with external software. Compared to new (and free!) offerings such as Google Earth Engine, ArcGIS is heavy and difficult to fine tune. For example, ArcGIS' functionality is more like an Adobe Photoshop project than it is an easily-editable and lightweight programming script. As more functionality and processing power is needed for GIS applications, this is quickly becoming a liability. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
python integration. great for creating customized processing of data, customized script tools. large user community leads to easy problem solving through online forums. fast customer/it support Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
convoluted data exporting, limited data manipulation options in-program. more current versions have unresolved bugs and data manipulation issues that have not been addressed or resolved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Intuitive tools, great for beginners to use. Easy to understand interface Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The interface is a little slow for advanced computing and analysis. Python or other programming languages are slightly easier Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
After you have had a basic class it is very useful to do all sorts of demographic research, land use, water quality analysis, and extract layers to make and print other maps. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes it is slow depending on your processor of your computer, and also loading individual layers. I have had the program freeze before when loading too many layers. There are also parts of the program that I have not learned yet to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I like best is that you can visualize certain pinpoints on a map. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I dislike is that it takes a lot of training to use this software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like how GIS can integrate between survey and CAD work. I like how integrated cities-counties-states are in sharing information that serves for the betterment of all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
GIS is a powerful program. It takes time to understand enough to become effective at utilizing its many tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
