Ellucian is one of the leading SIS in the market; it covers in-depth the areas related to student operations and data following the traditional US model. The interface has been improved in the recent versions. it offers some flexibilities and drills down many levels in each object. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The large size of Banner limited its flexibility significantly, and for any university that is not following the US standards, Banner will be very difficult to customize and accomodate any special request or diffrent process. the baseline version is very basic and lacks sveral needed functionalities (propoer reporting). The system is not user friendly and can only be used by trained and experianced users. Operating the SIS and administrating it requires a big team, and therefore I would not recommend it for small to medium Universities/Institutes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Having to memorize the names for the Banner screens, or not knowing what screens I need to look for. This changed once I started using the software more frequently, but it would be helpful if there could be some sort of index to search from. As a student and staff, I feel that Banner Student provides students with all of the information they need in a single location. I can find eveything I need to know about my courses, my grades, and my transcript, not to mention registration. In my experience, Ellucian PowerCampus support offers minimal customization options. Certain functionalities within the application have consistently malfunctioned over the years, lacking updates or resolutions. I need more enhancement and doing some calculations inside the banner, especially in tuition, as we use a huge pat of fin aid awards based on a discount of tuition. Banner is, first of all, term-based. This helps when working with a student to provide snapshot data regarding a student's term-to-term progress.
