Product Description

DX is a developer insights platform, designed by the researchers behind DORA and SPACE. DX is the only solution that provides both qualitative and quantitative measures, helping developer productivity leaders pinpoint their biggest opportunities and translate their impact into dollars. Many solutions provide metrics - but most don’t focus on the right things. DX’s research team has developed a new approach to measuring developer productivity that focuses on the developer experience (see paper here). Developer productivity is complex and requires a comprehensive approach in order to fully understand. DX offers a suite of tools which help you capture data from surveys and systems, both periodically and in real-time. DX is relied on by developer productivity leaders at companies of all stages — from startups like Vercel and Brex to Fortune 500 companies like Pfizer and eBay. In addition to its products, DX provides expertise in implementation, program design, and transformation to help leaders adapt to changing environments and drive continued impact year after year.

What do you like best about DX?

Our company has always cared about developer experience but rolling out DX has given them a way to make systematic improvements. As a team we review the results every sprint and triage actions we’re going to take to improve. It feels like it’s become embedded in our retros and made them much more productive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DX?

We really want the ability to find the right person that should review a PR and ping them directly. My manager has said this is on DX’s roadmap, but it’s something we’re missing right now that would definitely be used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about DX?

DX provides critical visibility into how the engineering organization is performing through a combination of qualitative and quantitative data. Notably, your organization's performance can be compared to a larger set of industry data to see where you stand. For a company that's serious about making the developer experience a competitive advantage for their business, it's game changing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DX?

Some of the more nascent functionality like Data Cloud requires a fair amount of effort to draw more advanced insights from. Though access to the raw data through SQL is available, visualizing the data through the DX interface is behind what you can do with other data analytics tools. Fortunately this can be circumvented by plugging the data directly into existing business intelligence tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?

DX radically cuts down the time required to collect and make sense of developer experience data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about DX?

The transperancy of the tool and how everyone can log in and see the results.

How there is a prioritised list of drivers and what your team would like to see improvements in.

A breakdown of teams, department and compay results so you can easily identify issues that are wide-spread amongst multiple teams in the organisation.

An atlas tool that gives you ideas for quick wins, near term and long term stargeties to drive improvements in your teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DX?

It is very powerful so time needs to be spend to fully undersrand how to use it effectively for your teams and organisations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?

It is helping us to surface and document issues developers are having with systems and processes and presenting these issues to team leaders and senior leadership so they can be addressed and tackled. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about DX?

Now that we've fully rolled out DX, our Developer Productivity initiative can gauge progress and find areas of pain to focus our improvement efforts. Compared to our legacy Engineering Sentiment survey, DX gives us a higher participation rate, an expertly crafted survey, and immediate turn around of the survey results. This allows us to feel confident in the survey data and take action immediately. Additionally, the professional services included in the DX subscription are second to none, it feels like DX is part of our team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DX?

The only pain point we have, which is mostly not a problem w/ DX, is making sense of our org chart and then getting it in shape to import to DX. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?

Developer Productivity is a top initiative this fiscal year Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about DX?

The survey product has been very useful for us!

- We consistently see particpation rates of 95%+ whereas before we were seeing under 50%. For context, we run the survey quarterly.

- It's easy to set up

- Everyone can easily analyze the results and gain insights

- The support provided by the DX team is great (shout out to Jen) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DX?

We're still learning how to derive significant value from their products such as Data Cloud, PlatformX and Onboarding. More handholding and guidance here would be helpful Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?

DX is solving two problems for us,

- Getting high participation for gathering feedback about the developer experience

- Making it easy for everyone to see and analyze the results which helps drive improvements in the numbers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about DX?

DX gives you feedback about how productive and effective your developers are by simply asking your developers. You get regular quarterly surveys that take qualitative questions and turn them into measures to be improved. Use it to understand your opportunities as well as your successes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DX?

The survey product is the backbone of their offering. You need a culture that's ready to give feedback and a leadership willing to make changes in response to that feedback. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?

Measuring developer experience, efficiency, and productivity. We were previously relying on homegrown surveys which weren't backed by the latest research like DX is. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about DX?

Industry benchmarking, comparisons with previous snapshots, and heatmaps provide valuable insights by thoroughly analyzing the results. These tools are extremely useful for understanding the precise status of the metrics. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DX?

It would be helpful to have a hypothesis when numbers move up or down drastically, along with a module for root cause analysis of these changes. The Interview feature is quite useful, but additional enhancements would be beneficial. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?

It helps in providing developer productivity index for our company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
