Take your data and map it to a google doc template. A very simple premise that Airtable hasn't done well natively, so I'm glad Rupert at DocsAutomator came up with a solution. Medium learning curve, but once you figure out how to get it set up, all the data mapping is really intuitive. Well worth the money for my organization; it eliminated a LOT of duplicate data entry and reduced transposition errors.
Rupert is great and very responsive with bug fixes or ID10T errors. I haven't had a downtime issue continue after a conversation with him. Very cool thing he's got going here. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't really dislike anything, but I do have a feature request:
- Autofill page numbers. google docs can automatically number pages, but I'd like it to count the pages and tell me how many are in the document total "1 of 3, 2 of 3, 3 of 3" etc. This can change depending on the amount of data I'm pulling into the document. No way to know on the front end how many pages it will be...
-Formatting sizes? Not sure how this could be handled, but if a string is too long for the space allowed in the template field, it would be cool if it could shrink the font size to fit, rather than wrapping to a new line or cutting off the last bit of the string Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
DocsAutomator is particularly distinguished by the simplicity and intuitiveness of its operation. The automation of PDFs together with database services like Airtable saves us a lot of time and significantly reduces human errors. With the seamless integration into our CRM, we can quickly and professionally automate the creation of various documents from data sheets to invoices. Another great advantage is the quick and friendly help from support. They respond quickly to inquiries and implement solutions in a very practical way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only downside currently is the dependency on Google Docs. Apart from that, there is no disadvantage for us: The functionality, reliability, and handling of DocsAutomator are exceptionally convincing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
DocsAutomator is a great service & I've been using it for around 6-months now to provide document creation services to clients. They use a system utilising DocsAutomator several times each week.
Automating document creation is quick, simple & highly effective, for both myself & for my clients.
The implementation was simple to initially carry out & was easy to integrate as a working system.
The biggest difference between this & a lot of other online services is the support. Rupert is a fantastic individual who is actually bothered about what he does. If there's ever a need to ask a question, he always makes time to provide help & support.
This morning, I had a problem with not being able to create a document in Airtable, despite it working fine in preview mode.
Within 5 minutes, Rupert had set up a video call with me to identify the problem.
Through no fault of his own, Airtable seemed to be blocking document insertions. After a quick disconnection & reconnection of the account, it was working fine again.
It's for reasons like this that I support individuals like Rupert who care about what they do.
Thanks again for all your support & I will continue to support you & your work too, Rupert.

Dictator is a thoughtfully designed tool that empowers small businesses to automate their processes. I used this to help a family friend bring her dream of building a diagnostic for her therapy business to life. People fill out a typeform, which sends information to Airtable which calculates the results, then docs Automator complies the report. The functionality it has allowed us to go above and beyond the initial vision and it ended up coming out fantastic. Plus, the founder himself who is very knowledgeable about the product is thoughtful and dedicated to making sure you get what you need from the platform. Fantastic tool and great service. Docsautomator was built on top of google docs and so it has to work around the limitations of google docs. The limitations weren't prohibitive but did create a very small learning curve. Working with support helped resolve the issue Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The straightforward user experiance.
Using Google docs as the template gives me the extensive editing functionality of Google Docs.
It verifies my templates and indicates which fields are matched with my data points.
Integration with AirTable was a no brainer.
Customer support is the best I have ever encountered. I get a reply within minutes and issues are resolved within hours. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We are a small non profit in New Orleans that provides services to the homeless and the housing insecure in our area. One of our projects is a model whereby we create small communities by renting housing and having a group of people live in community. For this we have been using DocsAutomator for building House Agreements, for defining Checklists, membership agreements and more. All these items can be dynamic and still need to be printed and shared. . We love the ease of being able to use a template from google docs. Other softwares' we reviewed were much more complicated. We also love how easily it connects to Airtable. DocsAutomator is by far the easiest way to create pdfs from templates and is helping us build our community and allow information to be printed, on demand in a dynamic and flexible way.

Ideally it would have a parent child feature that would be easier to implement Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Beyond how it simplified the creation of a relatively complex report, The DocsAutomator team was extremely supportive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I tried a similar competing software and found it to be very difficult to work with. DocsAutomator allows us to use Google Docs which I'm familiar with and can edit easily Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have been using DocsAutomator for around 2 years for my app, which is in development.
Integrating this into Airtable was a breeze and even when faced with the odd technical issue, Rupert was on hand to efficiently solve my problems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

DocsAutomator has helped our company tremendously with invoice issuing automation. We use Airtable and built-in extensions there have many limitations that prevented us from creating beautiful informative invoices. After market research, we decided to go with the DocsAutomator, especially because Rupert offers 24-hours invoice template creation service, which we can't recommend enough. Rupert was swiftly fast and helpful with template creation, and we were being able to solve our invoice issuing automation problem instantly. Now, just by clicking on button we receive amazing invoice in PDF format and our clients very happy with this improvement. In other words, DocsAutomator is the best solution for Airtable invoice creation in PDF format you can find. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is not really a downside, but you need to review documentation carefully to create beautiful documents. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Based on a Google Doc template, it is so easy to use. I can quickly build a report that meets my needs in minutes and updates are just as easy. If I ever have a question, the developer is available via chat to assist. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would like to be able to add sub totals and totals within tables. There are workarounds within the source data but this would be a great feature and I think it's coming in the near future. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
